Weekly Workouts

I ran.... 19 miles.
I hiked... 4 miles.
I lifted... 3 days.
I tapped... 0.

Saturday- Hiking 4(ish) miles @ King's Gap. The trails were a little hard to follow but it was very pretty! We will be back.

Sunday- 9 mile run @ Swatara State Park. My dad's friend Clayton organized this run. He wanted to see how fast he could run the 8.6 mile trail loop. He did it in about an hour and 5 minutes! I'm not sure how long it took me but my pace was 9:52, so quite a lot longer! I love this trail, and even though I was running alone most of the time, I had fun. Normally I would run this slower but I didn't want to be out by myself forever, so I pushed the pace. On the way to the run, I felt a slight PIMA. Very weird this PIMA has been popping up for 2 days, disappearing, then popping up again! Later in the day, I felt my adductors on my right side were a little sore. Maybe I strained them on the run? Strange!

Monday- Lifting back at home. PIMA still there. Still felt my adductors a bit. I did 18 unassisted pull ups! (Not in a row, but still the most I ever did in one day!)

Tuesday- 6 neighborhood miles. My adductor started talking to me at mile ONE and felt tight from mile three until the end. Freaking A.

Wednesday- Lifting chest @ home. I was still a little sore from my back workout! Work was crazy because we had musical rehearsal all day, so by the time I got home I felt so tired and achy, as if I did a long run or something! I skipped tap class because I was so exhausted!

Thursday- Lifting back @ home. Wanted to give my adductor some healing time.

Friday- 4 miles. I was nervous to test out the 'ol adductor but it was feeling good. I stopped at 4 miles because I wanted to end on a high note! Hopefully I can run tomorrow a full six miles without it coming back. Wish me luck!
I know I tend to be overly cautious, but I can always run more, I can't run LESS and undo damage!

Are you overly cautious, the right amount of cautious, or not cautious at all?

  1. I think you made a smart decision with the pains. You still got in some good workouts despite having a crazy busy week at work too. Maybe the cutback will help some? I think too, when I am stressed out, I have more niggles pop up. I seriously think a lot of mine is psychosomatic now- I am anxious about running and getting injured because I've been so injured lately. Still, it's always better too be TOO cautious especially without any races coming up.

    1. I hate when I can't tell if a feeling on an awareness is really or imaginary! It's so freaking weird. Hang in there, it will get better- your mind will calm down, I promise.

  2. I am VERY cautious and even with that I found out my peroneal tendonitis turned into much worse...even though 2 doctors told me "all was OK". Can you imagine how I will be after this?!

  3. Oh you know I am overly cautious to the point where I need to just get over myself and do it sometimes!

I had quite the run on Thursday, I almost texted you about it. I'm sharing it on the weekly wrap tomorrow!

  4. I think I am overly cautious too! I guess its better, but still its SO hard to know if pain is really or all in our heads. Looks like you still had a great week!

    1. I at least feel better knowing all runners are crazy when it comes to knowing whether something is a real pain or not.

  5. I hope the PIYA went away! I had pain on my butt a few weeks ago, so I rested for a few days.

I think I'm the right amount of cautious... I worry, but wont' lose sleep over things I can't control. I just hate losing sleep, so things get blocked from my mind intentionally.

    1. My PIMA did go away! I have no clue why it keeps popping up and going away...
