Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday!

After a very tiring week, I had a pretty tiring weekend too. But it was fun. Here's what we were up to!

After quite an eventful week, the thing I hoped for the most was to wake up in the morning with no headache or sore throat and hopefully feeling refreshed. Refreshed I was not, but my headache was gone. Instead of a sore throat I had that scratchy voice that's good for singing jazz songs.

I ran 4 miles and my adductor felt good so I stopped before I pushed my luck. Then I did some core stuff after. My hair is getting so long that it is just RIDICULOUS when I wake up in the morning...

Work was stressful. Let's leave it at that!

I had a doctor's appointment in the afternoon and got some good news about the nerve problem in my leg. The doctor thinks it's probably a pinched nerve that will go away on it's on.

After work Paul and I had a meeting with a field consultant from Solar City. We are going through the process of getting solar panels for our home! We are so excited and I can't wait to tell you more about it when I have time to write more!
Then we headed to our cousin's house for game night! Steph and Ken are fun people, I won't know why we don't hang out more often!? (Okay, I know why, life is busy!) We played Code Names and Catch Phrase.

On the way home, we were dying for a milkshake. It was really late- after 1:00am. We drove by three McDonald's but none of them were open. What the heck!? I thought McDonald's was open 24 hours. We were bummed.

Since we were up so late on Friday night, we were quite alarmed when someone pounded on our door at 7:45am. Who knocks on doors that early!?

LOWES! OUR NEW WASHER ARRIVED!

Do you love the carpet in our basement?

I went back to bed and Paul facilitated the guys moving our new washer in and our old washer out. Apparently, this washer is only going to cost $36 a year to operate and uses a lot less water than our old washer. We might get a new dryer too but first we're going to try a wash line. We already hang a lot of stuff in the house but want to see if we'd be able to hang it all provided we had the room.

I snapped these pics of me and Chrissy. He woke me up with his cuddles!

When I got up, I headed straight over to Randy and Michael's house to play with their little Bitty Bot while they were on vacation. She was so lovey and ready to PLAY.

Then I went for a 6 miler. My adductor felt absolutely perfect the whole time, which made me happy!

That afternoon, I hung out with my friend JK-L. We gabbed and gabbed and gabbed. Boy have I missed her!

That evening, Paul and I went to his parent's house for a delayed Easter dinner of ham, mac and cheese, baked beans, yams, and brussel sprouts. Paul's dad is a really good cook, so the food was delicious, as usual!

I got to play with Swipey!

We played Code Names and laughed and laughed!

On the way home, we swung by Bitty Bot to check on her again. She was ready to play.

That morning, I did one last check on Bitty Bot. She purred the whole time I was there.

Then I picked up Paul and we went to Pinchot Park for a fishing/running date. I did 6 miles. Paul didn't catch anything, but the kid beside him did.

When we got home, Solar City was at our house to take pictures and gather some information about our roof. Now we wait to hear from their engineers so we know the next step!

The rest of Sunday was spent getting ready for the week ahead, blogging, and relaxing. It was a busy weekend and I just wanted to chill.
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!
What's your favorite party game to play?

  1. Ahh that's so cool that you're getting solar panels! What a great idea!

I'm glad that you're not experiencing any issues when running! WHOOO!

My favorite party game to play is just good ol charades. Adam comes up with the craziest things people have to act out - his things are related to inside jokes with the people we're with. I don't know how he does it but he's so good at coming up with the funniest ideas!

    1. I know, I hope I continue not having running issues! I think you and Adam would like the game Salad Bowl. http://kidstir.com/salad-bowl-game/ When we play, we play that you're allowed to write down more than one word on the card- it can be a phrase. :)

  2. Solar panels! I grew up in a solar home :) It's something Rick and I need to do. For now, we are just super proud of ourselves because we started composting!

    1. That's cool! Did your parents own the solar panels? Solar City is cool because you don't own the panels, you don't pay for installation, you don't pay insurance or upkeep or any of that. You simply pay them for the energy you use. I'm excited to write more about it!

Omg we need to compost. I need to research that. We have plenty of room for it.

    2. Yes, owned panels on the roof and then our garage was converted into a room and the front was a green house. It was pretty cool and quite cutting edge for my parents in the 80's I'd say. We bought a composter at Home Depot and just collect all the organic waste in a little container under our sink then put it out there to do it's thing! We are excited!!

    3. I'm trying to figure out ways I can help the environment and composting seems like and easy way!

  3. We have friends that did the Solar Panel thing about 10 years ago or so and it still has not paid off for them. I'm curious to hear more about this.
Our neighborhood yard sales are this coming weekend so we spent our weekend putting our things out in our garage. Boy it feels good to get rid of stuff. Even though I know we didn't actually get rid of it, I know one way or another it won't be coming back into our house..lol

    1. Did they purchase the solar panels? With Solar City, you do not purchase the panels, pay for installation, upkeep, repairs, nothing. You simply pay them for the energy you use- which will be less than PP&L! If it all goes through, about 76% of our home's energy will be through solar and 24% will be through PP&L. I'm excited to write more about it but if you have specific questions before then, let me know!

Ah cleaning out is so therapeutic. Doesn't it make you feel like your whole life is more in order when you get rid of stuff?

    2. Yes, they did indeed purchase the panels. They way you are doing it sounds more beneficial.

    3. I think they are super expensive to buy. I hope it eventually pays off for your friends. Hopefully more companies like Solar City can come about so we all can save money AND help the environment. I mean, it is seriously a win win for everyone. I know if we had to purchase the panels we wouldn't be able to do it. We don't have that kind of money!

  4. scratchy jazz voice is the best! I feel like Phoebe in Friends when I have a scratchy voice!

The shirt that Paul is wearing on the Friday picture is awesome!!

I feel that I didn't do anything exciting this weekend... I watched The Immortal Life Of Herietta Lacks on TV, it was amazing!! the book is one of my favorites! the movie made me cry, Oprah was amazing in it!

  5. We want to do solar panels! It's so crazy with our HOA though, they have to be on the back side of the house where no one can see them. I'm curious as to how your experience will be with them so keep blogging about it :).

Sucks about McD's being closed! I too thought they were 24-7 and plus they have $2 milkshakes here right now too.

    1. I didn't even know about the sale on milkshakes! I really like McD's milkshakes. Don't worry, I will write more about the solar panels. :)

  7. I have an HE washer and dryer, and the washer uses less water than my parents' previous set. The washer doesn't have an agitator either, so I can fit more clothes in, which means fewer loads :)

    1. Our's doesn't have an agitator either! It is such a huge upgrade. More clothes, less water!

  8. I have a pinched nerve too! Mine is in my back and leads to some pretty weird feelings in my legs. It's been about a year and it still hasn't gone away, but it doesn't cause pain either, more like an itchy feeling (weird, I know). I hope yours goes away soon! That is no fun.

Frank and I spent our weekend in Arches NP canyoneering. I feel like we're in Moab more than we're not lately. It was a pretty fun weekend though!

    1. Okay so maybe my pinched nerve is in my back, hence the weird leg feelings. Does yours ever hinder your running? I know what itchy feeling you are talking about. Mine was itchy/stretchy, now numb.
