Weekend Wrap Up (Part 2)

Happy TUESDAY!

Part 1 of my long weekend is recapped hereToday, I'll show you what we were up to on Easter, and my extra day off on Monday!

I hope your week is starting off well! My week is going to be crazy. More on that TOMORROW!

I got up at the butt crack of dawn (okay, 6:30!) to meet a couple runners at Swatara State Park for 9 miles around the mountain bike loops. I ran faster than normal. It was a good workout.

Then I drove straight to my parent's house. (Paul came with his parents later.) My mom hosts Easter every year for her extended family and my dad's as well. There's usually a lot of people but they tend to come in shifts. Since the weather was nice, we got to sit outside so it was nice. I loved visiting with my family!

Of course we did an egg hunt...

I. CAN'T. TAKE. HOW. FREAKING. CUTE. SHE. IS.

Since cousin Alex (age 27) hadn't been to Easter in about 5 years, we decided to hide some eggs for him! Tyler took extra care to make the eggs as hard to find as possible!

Obviously, this task was no match for Cornell graduate and engineer, Alex Martino!

Mom took some of us over to the Gallery on the Square to check it out.

I finally bought a bracelet I have had my eye on! If you like this handmade wrap bracelet, check out McConnell Jewelry Designs. I am in love with this bracelet!

Paul brought a batch of the chili he plans to enter in the Cherry Blossom Festival Chili Cook Off. It was met with rave reviews!

Debby and Clark!

 Auntie Eileen and Uncle Rick!

Me and my Auntie Eileen!

Cousin Brian and Cousin Alex attempt to juggle...

Grandpa, Nanny, and the grandkids!

We were basically there all day. It was one of the best Easters in awhile!

MONDAY

I was feeling pretty BLAH on Monday, which may have been related to getting my period the day before. Lately, I have felt borderline sick on the first day. But I was determined to have a good Monday.

I lifted back at home. I switched up my pull ups and did them all unassisted today! I managed to do 3 sets with 4 reps, and then 2 more sets with 3 reps. I just couldn't get up to 4 the last two times! I was very proud of myself though. I never did 18 unassisted pull ups all in one workout!

Then I ran some errands, which included getting some "beauty" products. Rachel showed me how to wear eye shadow, so I got some.

I also needed a hair straightener. My hair grows fast! It's only been two weeks since I got it cut, and it's long enough in the front to flip out, as seen in the pic of me and Auntie Eileen. I tested it out and I think it's going to work!

Paul and I spent a lot of time doing yard work. I love to weed, and I got to weed my whole garden! It was very satisfying.

Paul cleaned the gutters and mowed the lawn. The outside of our house is no longer in shambles!

The rest of the night was spent relaxing while watching Seinfeld and eating dinner. I made a huge plate of quinoa, zuke, brussel sprouts, and chicken!

If you celebrate, what did you do for Easter?
Do you like to do yard work?
Do you ever straighten your hair?

  1. I love sharing your family Easter celebration via pics! Looks like such a fabulous time! I need Rachel to show me how to do makeup. I only line my upper lashes w/ liquid liner and wear one color eyeshadow and mascara. Plain and simple! We had Easter brunch w/ my dad then went on a Harley ride because it was gorgeous! First ride of the season (for me) and it felt great!

    1. Rick went out before I joined him and rode up to Carter Lake and all around. Stopped in to say hi to his brother, etc. When he came back to get me, we rode out to Boyd Lake. Not far, just enough to get back on the bike and feel the wind! Once he is done working weekends we will get back to our "bike to breakfast" rides and head up toward Estes Park!

  2. I definitely need to straighten my hair but lately I've been too lazy and have been wearing it wavy.

Sounds like you had a wonderful Easter with your Family! I have to admit it was one of my best too! We usually travel to Scott's side of the family but this year we spent it with my family who live MUCH closer. That was so nice! Plus, my dad made an Easter egg hunt for the dogs (of course he did...lol). They did pretty well sniffing out the treats inside the plastic eggs!

    1. Oh I bet that was fun watching the dogs hide eggs! Did they really find them? How hard did you hide them?

    2. My dad threw them in the yard very "strategically". At one point I heard he told my mom she wasn't hiding them hard enough...haha. We walked with the dogs and pointed some out and then they went to them because they could smell them!

  3. I love your new bracelet! Also it looks like you had a wonderful Easter with your family. I miss spending mine with family and egg hunts and kids around. We just stayed at home. I ran that morning and then Clay cooked that night. Growing up we had tons of big family Easters, and I miss that.

Good luck with the musical this week and your crazy week, and I hope you get more rest!

    1. My family has been pretty good at keeping traditions going! I am impressed that my mom has hosted Easter for over 30 years! I am looking forward to hopefully getting good sleep tonight... It can't be worse than last night!

  4. Hahaha cousin Alex up in a tree in his khakis! What a trooper, I love it! Your family seems like so much fun!

I love that you went home and watched Seinfeld. Just yesterday Adam and I were talking about shows in syndication and he said "I mean look at Seinfeld it's always playing and we're probably the only ones who watch it" and I was like NOPE!!! Megan wrote a blog post and everyone commented that they still love Seinfeld! :D

    1. I do have a fun family! :) My brother and cousins are hilarious. Oh yes we love Seinfeld. It's "homey", does that make sense? We do want to rewatch Curb though.

  6. I have to straighten my bangs if I ever wear them as bangs and not tucked into the rest of my hair. Good job on those unassisted pull-ups! I wish I had a family like yours. Ours is so scattered and dysfunctional. :(

  7. What a beautiful weekend! What did your nieces get in their Easter Eggs? Does everybody participate on the egg hunt?

Yesterday was a beautiful day for gardening!

on the years my son is with his father, I barely acknowledge Easter, it has not been a holiday my family observed, we did our family gatherings on Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

    1. They got stickers, hair ties and erasers. Only the kids do the egg hunt but Alex got to do it special this year. Everyone watches though! It is fun. :)

  8. Right now I rarely straighten my hair. If I'm going somewhere nice and my hair needs to be tamed, I'll do it, but most of the time I let it air dry and then put it up.
