MGR's Weekly Workouts

HEY HEY HEY!
Happy Birthday to my DADDIO!!!!!
He is Fifty Effing Seven today!

Last year, I posted a fun birthday story about my dad.

I've also discussd 10 reasons he is an AWESOME DAD.

Happy Birthday to the BEST DAD IN THE WORLD!!!

Okay, now for the workouts! 38 miles this week.

Saturday- Last Man Standing Race with my Daddio! I did a total of 16 miles. I was feeling it for the rest of the day!

Sunday- REST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My quads were sore from the race. I could have lifted. I should have lifted. I didn't.

Monday- Lifting back @ home. My quads were still really sore!

Tuesday- 8 miles. Even though my quads were still sore, I really wanted to run. I enjoyed every step of this run. I felt strong! I freaking love runs like this!

Wednesday- I was up at 5am, and at 5:30 I got an unexpected robo call from school informing me we had a two hour delay due to icy conditions. I took my time drinking my coffee and waking up. Around 7:00, I went outside to test the roads to see if they were too icy to run. Um... it was a SKATING RINK! I really felt like running, but I had to lift instead. (I could have run after work but I would much rather work out in the morning.)

Thursday- 8 morning miles! I was in SHORTS. I know. Saturday was frigid and today was shorts.

Friday- 6 morning miles. I woke up not feeling great at all. I had a stuffy nose and it just kept getting worse throughout the day. I can't say my run was enjoyable but at least I got it done.
How were your workouts this week?
Anyone in freaking SHORTS!? (Not you Ali or Kristina!!! Hahaha!)

  1. Of course I'm wearing shorts today, but I don't count, haha. If it's too cold for shorts here I just won't run but that rarely happens. Gonna be 55 at the start of my half maration and get up to 66 or 68 today. Needless to say they can save the heat sheets for another year (it hasn't been cold at this race since 2014).

You had a great week of workouts and hope you all stay well with that crazy winter weather changing to warm weather!

    1. Well, my dad is a bad ass, and you are a bad ass, so my view from over here is that the 50s are gonna be awesome!

  3. Happy Birthday to your dad!!!!! Looking good!

Your comment made me realize I literally only own 3 pair of pants. I have two pairs of jeans and one pair of dress pants. Aside from going to the movie theater where it's always freezing I never wear pants ... like ever!

We should do a house swap one week in the winter! You could run in shorts every day and I could shovel snow!

    1. I would love to do a house swap! And we could take care of each other's kitties!!! :)

Most of my pants are leggings. I have one pair of jeans and 4 pairs of dress pants (which I never wear!). Everything else is LEGGINGS!

  4. I love how you and your dad have such a great relationship. I hope he has a fantastic birthday!

We actually had off school Wednesday because of the ice. It was nice but now we have to make it up which wont be nice later in the year when we want a break. I would much rather have had just a delay.

This weather is crazy. I took advantage of our 60 degree day on Thursday too. Just when it looks like spring may come early, boom! We are back to winter temps!

    1. The weather is so insane. Is this normal for Jan? I feel like it isn't. That sucks you lost a day. :( I prefer delays that you don't have to make up! I am sure we will have a snow day or two or three this year though!

  5. Happy Birthday to your DaD!!!!!!

I am NOT running in shorts, although several runners here in Nova Scotia did yesterday - it was 9 Celsius!!! I had a rest day and today for my run it was -20!

    1. Quads are all better, thank you! :) Who watches your kiddo when you have a delay? Or did your work have a delay too?

    2. When he has a delay, I have to take off from work. back a while ago, if I had to take time off for delays, the supervisor used to make me feel awful about taking time off, and I had to be available by my computer. The supervisor now is way cooler about it.

  7. Hope your dad has an amazing day. I love how we have dads that are so fit and badass. My dad is 78 and still out there cycling and swimming! I hope you didn't end up getting a bad cold. I was almost blown over on Monday--no joke. I ended up w/ 5 runs and 2 swims. Fitting in more yoga so only 2 strength training sessions. We have gorgeous weather this weekend. It's 42 degrees and really sunny. We were just up at CSU for the basketball game and so fun to see all the students out on campus in shorts. Tomorrow is like this too then we get more snow (BOOOO). Happy Saturday!

    1. I didn't realize your dad was so active! I do have a bad cold, it sucks so bad. :( I am glad you have such a mild weekend to enjoy!

  8. We had ice on Wednesday too but not as bad as you! Just the schools in the northern part of the county were delayed. I went out running not thinking there would be ice because it was in the 40s, but there were definitely some slick spots.
    Happy bday to your dad!
