**Note: #6 of this list is a spoiler for the season finale of Bates Motel. If you haven't seen the final episode yet, please do not read #6!!

1. Last week, I invested in zucchini. "Investing" means I bought a lot of it... so we have been eating zucchini for dinner a lot! Our favorite thing to make is zucchini fries and top them with ground turkey and marinara sauce. It tastes so good!

2. We bought Chrissy a new table! During the THROW SHIT OUT process of house cleaning, we got rid of a table he likes to lay on. Of course we had to replace it with something new!

3. The school year is winding down. I have 7.5 days with students left. My chorus concert is over and I only see each of my classes about two more times. I didn't realize how ready I would be for this year to be over. The kids have checked out. They have stopped following directions, and I have no patience left. Obviously not ideal circumstances.

Here are highlights from my 4th Grade Chorus/Recorder Karate Concert!

4. I love this!

5. I have been forgetting to show you the bookmark Paul got me. Isn't he the sweetest?

6. This week was the season finale of Bates Motel. (This is the series that is a huge prequel to the movie psycho. It stars Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga.) Guys, at the end of the episode, after Norma has died (Norman killed her), he was imagining her alive. Norma was playing the piano with the house all decorated for Christmas... and I bawled my eyes out. I don't know why! I hate the character Norma and I hate the character Norman! But that scene was just so gut wrenching that even though I hated the characters, it made me so sad. Well, I had my ugly cry and got it out of my system.

Apparently, Vera Farmiga played dead Norma... it wasn't a dummy. How did she do that so convincingly??? I tried it at home and Paul said I looked dead when I was very, very still, but I couldn't only hold it for a little bit without breathing.

And if telling you I was trying to pretend I am dead isn't random enough for ya, I have nothing else to say!
Tell me something random!

  1. You missed #2 my dear friend! Wow, those 4th graders. Very impressed, Megan. What a fabulous job and all the hard work put in is very obvious. Thank you for sharing. I really love that bookmark Paul gave to you. Thinking about one living with the other is almost too much, sometimes. Random for this week: Macy and I had a little "walking accident" where she fell and it made me so sad I almost started to cry. Just thinking about it (which I do over and over again) makes me sad. She's a tough girl (80 pound lab) and super strong, I am not even sure it affected her -- well, I know it didn't affect her like it affected me. Sheesh....

    1. Oh, Susan! I totally understand the "walking accident." The other day Cecil went to jump up on the counter and he missed. He's always been a clumsy cat so it may be nothing, but thinking about it kills me. Our pets are everything!

    2. OMG, it breaks my heart. I am glad you get it. Macy is going to be 10 this October and we only had Cuervo for 11 years before she died so I am always thinking about the precious time we have together. She is such a sweet girl and when she went down so unexpectedly and her legs splayed out my heart just stopped....(OK, I gotta quit re-living it!!)

    3. I get you 100%. Leo was 10 when he passed and Cecil will be 9 this August so I have the same worries! We can only give them the best life possible and enjoy every minute together!

    4. Aw Susan I am sorry you had that scare with Macy!! :( Thinking about losing our pets or them aging is the worst. When Christmas or Jelly passes, it will quite possibly be one of the worst things that has ever happened in my life.

Kristina: Okay, we are so bad because Jelly and Chrissy sometimes miss the counter to because they go to hop up and something is there that scares them and they jump/fall back down (but land on their feet.) They walk away looking embarrassed, but Paul and I laugh!!! (Only because they are okay!)

Chrissy and Jelly are 9 and it makes me sad that they are getting older but indoor cats can live a really long time if you take care of them! Sure they could die in a year, or they could live another 10 yrs! Who knows! Cecil looks so young and beautiful. He is like the Madonna of cats.

    5. It's kind of crazy all our "kids" are about the same age! I am so happy we are all able to give them such awesome lives! I totally would love to have Macy's, Cecil's, Chrissy or Jelly's lives. Talk about living the dream.

    6. ...and P.S. Megan, we laugh at Macy too. We were walking her this winter and let her off leash and she started totally being a dork (typical) and took off running into the snow and completely biffed it. Then got up super fast w/ snow all over her face w/ a look like "what the hell just happened" and I was bent over laughing at her. I felt bad but couldn't stop and she just kept on being a dork.

  2. Your concert was fantastic! I love the American song theme. And I'm amazed at your recorder karate kids, I didn't have anyone get black belt this year, not even brown. I had one student get red. Can't wait to see you next Friday!

    1. Thank you! I had to pick very easy songs since chorus is not in my sked. So I just tried to pick stuff that sounded hard, but wasn't. Or songs I've taught several times so I know how to teach it efficiently when there is well, no chorus in the sked!

That stinks you only had a student get to red. Why do you think that is??

      FRIDAY WILL BE FUN!

  3. Awww congrats on getting the kids ready for their concert!

Hahah I can totally remember being in school when there was only a week or two left and being totally checked out. I'm sure it's super hard on teachers ... but so exciting for students :D! Do you have to work long after the kids are gone, or does your summer break start in about a week too?

    1. It is hard for teachers but there is underlying excitement! The students are done June 4th (Fri) and my last work day is June 6th (Mon). So we only have one in-service day after the students are done, so that isn't bad! I have nothing to do on those in-service days at the end of the year and the last thing I feel like doing is preparing for the next year! I guess that's bad, but it's the truth!

  4. Aww, that bookmarker is so sweet and even sweeter that it came from Paul.

I didn't even know about the show Bates Motel but FYI, your spoiler is #6 not #7.

    1. LOL I made that mistake by correcting a different mistake. First I missed number 2, which Susan pointed out, so I fixed that, but by fixing that I created an error and #7 became #6. Thank you I will fix it! I hope I didn't spoil anyone!

  5. Pretty sure Vera Farmiga looks like she's chronically anemic--I'm sure she was quite convincing as a dead person! :p

    1. LOL! She does not look that great in the show. I have seen her outside the show looking a lot better. You always crack me up. :)

  6. Aww cute concert! My youngest will be a 5th grader next year and I think we're done with recorders forever. Sigh. That said, she wants to play the flute next year! Chrissy is ever so pretty on the new table!

    1. You made it through recorders!!! That is something to celebrate!!! I think the flute sounds a lot more pleasant than the recorder so it can only go uphill from here.

  7. Wow we do get out a lot earlier! We start well before Labor Day, maybe that is why?

  8. Your concert looks very well organized and it sounds wonderful! Great job!

AWW!! that is the cutest bookmark! You guys are adorable!

Something random? I'm going to NYC for 24 hours in 2 weeks for a concert. I'm very excited for it!

    1. Thank you!

The bookmark was a little mushy for Paul (not really his style) but sometimes he breaks out the mush and it is nice. :)

      Ooh what concert???

    2. Mushy is good every now and then!

We are going to see Enrique Bunbury, a Spanish Rock singer. I'm going with my sisters and we are looking forward to singing as loud as our body will allow.

    3. I never heard of him but I like your description of how loud you plan to sing. :)

  9. I have watched two episodes of Bates Motel and I think I need to keep going. I love your bookmark! That is so darn cute that Chrissy likes to lay on the table. :)

    1. I love/hate the show. But I will watch it until it is no longer on the air! You will have to let me know what you think of it as you go along and what characters you love/hate. Parts of it are just a little emo for me.

  10. YES to zuke!!! :)

I don't watch Bates, but a good friend of mine live-Tweets while she watches. I wonder what her reaction was to Norma's demise!

    1. Oh man I bet her tweets are funny! When I finally get a smartphone I bet I am going to love the live tweeting stuff for shows like Survivor and well, any show I watch!

  11. I'm not sure if you have blogged about it yet (I am still trying to catch up...) but what did you think about the Finale of Survivor??????

    1. Girl, I am SO disappointed. My mouth was on the floor. I could not believe it. After listening to interviews with the jury I have come to find out that Debbie was bitter but Scott, Jason, and Julia simply did not SEE the game Aubry was playing. Jason has since said after seeing the season that Aubry played a better game.

    2. I could NOT agree more. I was pissed. Aubry played the best game and deserved the title of survivor. I was very disappointed in the jury. :-/ Maybe she will get a second chance...
