MGR Updates!

Hey all! Here are a few updates about my life right now... in case you care!

1. I had an 88 day streak on Duolingo... which means I did my Spanish studies for 88 days straight. But I stopped. My focus and mental energy is not what it was. The blog had to go and eventually, so did the Spanish. I hope to pick it up again but I no longer feel bound by it. I'm such an all or nothing person! But I'm glad it's not something I feel like I need to do every day anymore.

2. A couple of you asked if I'm still working out... Yes, I am working out A LOT. I'm running more and lifting less, but I want to get back into a balance. I haven't been doing many climbs or trail, which is bad because I have a 25k trail race coming up in April and there are a ton of climbs in it.

3. I'm still eating and making quiche. I don't feel safe unless there are at least 2-3 quiche in my fridge.

4. I've been mostly sleeping through the night but that's because I have been going to bed LATE. If I have a shitty night of sleep, it's my own fault because it means I either forgot to take my trazodone or I drank too much wine. I stopped taking the Vitamin D and Vitamin K that Debby gave me because I ran out. I stopped the magnesium because I think it made me poop a lot...

5. I haven't done a puzzle in several months. Mental focus is NOT THERE.

6. I'm counting down the days until summer. I have strategically placed my personal days to provide me with the most 4 day weeks as possible. I know I'm supposed to love my job, but right now I am not loving many of the things I normally love... It will get better, I know it will. And I am sure summer will come and I won't be much happier than I am now. But at least I won't have to be "on" all day, if you know what I mean? Fellow teachers, you KNOW what I MEAN!

7. I took on a bunch more piano students! Still looking for one more! Anyone want to take piano on Thursdays from 5:45-6:15 from the coolest piano teacher in Central PA!?

8. I am still reading blogs but not commenting. Don't hate me.

Anything else you want to know???
What's new with you!?

Weekend Wrap Up! (What!!??)

Hello! I randomly decided to write a Weekend Wrap Up! I miss you guys. Hope you enjoy a sneak peak into my life at the moment…
My alarm went off at 5:15. I’m setting it earlier so I am not so rushed in the morning but somehow I still end up being rushed! I enjoyed some coffee and downloaded my podcasts. (We cut cable so I have a lot of news shows I listen to exclusively in podcast form now.)

My workout was lifting upper body, core, and a speedy 4 miler on the treadmill. The endorphins really lifted my mood!

Driving to work… Do you look just as thrilled as me on the way to work?

Unfortunately I had a nasty email in my inbox when I got to work. That’s never a good way to start the day. I wanted to seek someone out to complain to, but I decided to just let it go. It wasn’t worth my time.

.
Obligatory stair duty shot. If it’s a weekday and it’s 8:40, I am at stair duty.

The best part of my day was the saxophone lesson I taught in the morning. The two boys in the lesson group are just really friendly, fun, and FUNNY! We had a great time and laughed a lot.

At lunch I had to drive to the high school to drop something off. I snapped a picture of this… Apparently someone rides a unicycle to school!

That evening I went to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Dutch Apple Dinner Theater with my SIL, Debby!

I have such a special place in my heart for the show Joseph. I was in it and choreographed it at a community theater when I was in college. The show is so high energy and entirely singing and dancing... totally my kind of show! It was really hard not to sing along! Watching the show brought back so many fond memories of when I was in Joseph...
It's not fun setting your alarm on a Saturday morning unless it's for a trail run with a friend! I met Allison for a run on the AT at 8am. She had to do 20 miles with lots of climbs. I only joined her for half of it and I could not keep up with her going up the mountains. Every time I had to run UP, I felt zapped of energy. It's okay, it just wasn't my day! However, I'm running Hyner (25k trail race with a ton of climbs) in a month so I better get my energy back! Maybe I should stop running 7 minute miles on the treadmill and start running up mountains!

Later on that afternoon I met my friend Kristen for coffee. Kristen and I have run miles and miles together on the trail but I haven't seen her in a few months. It was really good to connect with her!

On my way home, I hit up Aldi. I now have bananas, apples, and avocados in my life, so I am happy!

Do you miss seeing Chrissy? Here he is!!!!!

I did some household stuff, like fold wash. I love folding wash. I'm serious. It's because it requires sorting!

That evening, my 4th grade chorus performed at a fundraising event for our school district. We sang and danced to Footloose. My students were so high energy and did such an AWESOME job! I am so proud of them. My job can be stressful but it can be SO REWARDING too!

Gotta dress the part for a performance of Footloose!!!
Since I like to be productive first thing in the morning, I made three quiche! Chrissy helped... aka he was SUPER ANNOYING.

Then I met my mom for lunch. We talked forever! I wish I snapped a pic but of course I forgot.

Then I ran errands.

Then I drank wine in bed.

Obviously this blog post ended up taking a back burner... which is why I haven't been blogging much to begin with! But at least I was able to provide you with a little bit of a wrap up, and lots of selfies to prove I am alive!!!!
Do you like folding laundry?
What's your favorite musical?
Did you ever ride a unicycle?

TELL ME SOMETHING THAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE, I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!

Hey!

Hey All, just checking in!

I started my blog on June 5, 2013. After posting for 2103 days in a row, I took a two week break. It doesn't feel like two weeks... it seems shorter.

I'm not "back".... just dipping my toe in the waters. It's weird not to be blogging. I can't tell you how many times I go about my daily life and think, "I have to share this on the blog!" or "I have to post this picture on the blog!" But the break is very much needed.

I do feel a relief that I don't need to post every day because I don't have the mental energy to do so. The truth is, my life has not been going well for the past several months. I'm not well. And when I'm not well, I am stressed and don't have the mental energy to write. Everything meaningful I would have to say right now is very personal. It's not ready to be shared with the internet.

And I hate even saying all that because I am not seeking attention or trying make people wonder what is going on. I'm not looking for all that. I am just trying to explain why all of a sudden I stopped blogging. All my thoughts and feelings are very personal right now and there is not much room in my life for all the fun things I used to share.

This will change. Meg Go Run will be back, it's just not a priority in my life right now.

In the new year, I started this one sentence journal. You're supposed to write down one sentence per day about something that made you happy or was meaningful. It's a 5 year journal so after you write down for a whole year, you can go back to page one and start over and write one sentence below the one you wrote last year. It's supposed to be fun to reflect.

The thing is, most of my sentences are not happy. They are not things I want to remember. I am so sick of looking at this "Happiness Project" journal when everything I have to say is not happy. It feels like a chore. So last night, I threw it away.

Don't worry, I am still striving to be happy. But rehashing every day in my brain is not the way to do that right now!

I hope you all are well and I miss connecting with you!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Tuesday!
Sorry this wrap up is a little late...
I was totally anticipating a delay this morning, but when my alarm went off at 5am, there were no alerts on my phone. "You've gotta be shitting me," I said out loud. No sooner did the words come out of my mouth than I got a text letting me know my district would be operating on a two hour delay. Hallelujah!!!

Work was shorter than normal but I have to be honest, I was mentally checked out. I'm not proud of it. It was just a hard day for reasons totally unrelated to the students and teaching. But I made it through and so did the kids. Sometimes, that's all you can ask for.

We cut cable, so that night I subscribed to CBS All Access (so I can watch Survivor) and made guacamole with the 49 cent avocados I got a couple days ago at Aldi.

It was a wild and crazy Friday night.
I slept foreverrrrrrrr (8 hours) and I loved every minute of it! I had some crazy dreams. I'm okay with it. As long as I get sleep!

I did a little cooking in the morning...

My workout was a lifting session at Planet Fitness. It was packed! I managed to get my workout in, although I had to do my exercises in a different order than I would have liked.

That afternoon, I had a haircut at Jenny's Salon, which is only about a 1/2 mile from my house. The girl who cuts my hair is awesome. She does it exactly how I like it. It's a bit more money than I would like to pay, but I always leave feeling very happy with the service. I'd say it's worth it! And now that my hair is the way I love it, I feel like a new woman!

That evening, my parents came over for dinner. For their Christmas present each you, I invited them over for a home cooked meal. That night I made them my Italian quiche and my Spinach/feta/chicken sausage quiche. I also made roasted potatoes (no recipe needed, please tell me you know how to make potatoes in the oven!) and cauliflower casserole... recipe by Patrick Looney!

I had the most epic run at Planet Fitness. My plan was to do six miles but I felt so good that I just kept going and kept getting faster and faster. I did nine miles total with a couple at a sub seven pace. Who am I!?

The rest of the day was just spent relaxing. We got a ton of snow and luckily found out the night before that we would be having a two hour delay the next day. Wahoo!!
Do you have cable?
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

My SIL is hooking me up.

A couple months ago, I started taking trazodone to help me sleep. At first it was awesome. But over time, I have either built up a tolerance or my brain has hacked it. I think it's the latter. My brain is no match for prescription sleep medication...

I know there are harder meds like Ambien, but I think that's the stuff that makes you eat everything in your pantry in your sleep. No thank you!

My sister-in-law, Debby, takes very good care of her family's health and she has them taking some supplements, so when I told her about my sleep issues, her first idea was perhaps I have a magnesium deficiency. We kind of shelved the idea for a few months since the traz was working, but now that I am back to not sleeping well 2-3 days per week, she offered to intervene.

I'm still taking my traz, but I am also taking....

1/2 a tsp of magnesium.

Vitamin D3 for anxiety...

Vitamin K2 to help with proper absorption of D3...

I also rub some essential oils on my wrist and the back of my neck before bed. It smells like my therapist's office. I think he has a diffuser that emits essential oils...

I have like a little health nut store on my bedside table these days!

I don't know if any of it is working. But I am at the end of my rope. I will try whatever. Except the Ambien.
Do you take any supplements?
What's the most hippy dippy thing you do?

I'm so weird!

I still use a day planner for my personal appointments. I love them. At work, I have a huge monthly desk calendar. For me, it's all about putting pencil to paper. I love writing all of my important dates and activities down. I could never, EVER switch to keeping track of my life on my phone. I just love the tangible aspect of a calendar and day planner!

Last week, I wrapped up some quiche in foil to take to work for lunch. I threw it in my purse. Unfortunately, the spinach in the quiche was a bit watery and leaked all over the inside of my purse! Everything in my purse smelled mildly like spinach for awhile. And my day planner was fucked! It's okay, it was ugly anyway...

So I was in search of a new day planner. Surprisingly, Dollar General only had the ones where you have to fill in the dates yourself. Who has time for that!? So I headed to Big Lots and found this beauty...

It goes until December, 2019 and it was half off... only $3.71! You can't beat that! I am so excited to have a fresh new planner to write in! Also, it doesn't smell like spinach, which is always a plus.
Do you use a day planner or your phone for your calendar and daily schedule?

Who wants to hang out!? I will pencil you in my new day planner!
