I'm so weird!

I still use a day planner for my personal appointments. I love them. At work, I have a huge monthly desk calendar. For me, it's all about putting pencil to paper. I love writing all of my important dates and activities down. I could never, EVER switch to keeping track of my life on my phone. I just love the tangible aspect of a calendar and day planner!

Last week, I wrapped up some quiche in foil to take to work for lunch. I threw it in my purse. Unfortunately, the spinach in the quiche was a bit watery and leaked all over the inside of my purse! Everything in my purse smelled mildly like spinach for awhile. And my day planner was fucked! It's okay, it was ugly anyway...

So I was in search of a new day planner. Surprisingly, Dollar General only had the ones where you have to fill in the dates yourself. Who has time for that!? So I headed to Big Lots and found this beauty...

It goes until December, 2019 and it was half off... only $3.71! You can't beat that! I am so excited to have a fresh new planner to write in! Also, it doesn't smell like spinach, which is always a plus.
Do you use a day planner or your phone for your calendar and daily schedule?

Who wants to hang out!? I will pencil you in my new day planner!

  1. I LOVE paper planners too! But sadly, it does not fit into my lifestyle. I have to change dates and times all of the time, so it's never the same from when I wrote it the first time! For our family/kids events, I use the Cozi program on my computer, and phone and then it also ties in to my Google calendar. The Google calendar is for my work and personal stuff. I just really like the way Cozi looks, so I don't want to change that over to Google. Sydney also is a huge fan of planners and does a great job finding one each school year and keeps it up to date. Zach, well, I'm trying to get on his case and get him to write stuff down. He needs to plan his homework out!!

    1. How does Zach get through life without a planner!!?? I can see how with your job and the changing times that writing things down would not work! Too many eraser marks and no one likes those in a fresh, new planner!

  2. I LOVE my day planners!!! I write so much about my day in them in addition to any appointments. I use it almost like a journal. I think I have all my planners still from like the last 7 years..lol. I could never go strictly digital!
I was at Dollar General this week and they had all their planners and calendars 70% off. I saw this really nice hard cover one and asked if it was suppose to be in the bin ( since it was the only one of that kind). Turns out, it was only 90 cents!!! I am using it to keep track of Baylee's activities. I know that sounds silly, but I need to keep track of her eating and potty habits and when she is having pain. My mom writes in it too, since she takes care of Baylee when I am at work.

If I didnt already have a planner of my own I think I would use this one because it even has a section I could record runs in ( if I ever do any...haha). Okay, as you can see I am really excited about this 90 cent planner! I think I will text you some pics of it!

    1. I have all my old planners too! Such memories in there! I mean I have the planner in which I wrote down that I was meeting Paul for the first time. Such nostalgia!

Having a planner for Baylee doesn't sound silly, it sounds smart!

      Yes send me a pic!

  3. I love my paper planner and use it religiously for work to write down my daily to-dos and deadlines. I use an online calendar for meetings and appointments though since those can change frequently and my co-workers need to be able to schedule me into their meetings sometimes. Plus our meetings are often conference calls so dial-in info has to be included. This digital + paper system works for me and I love it! Nothing I love more than scratching off something in my paper planner as done / over!

  4. I'm a paper planner gal, too! Although mine is actually a mini three-ring binder that I take back and forth to work, so I have pockets and can mix and match pages, and I can hole punch whatever I want to throw in there. The weekly pages are printed from a template I created, and the monthly pages are something I bought. In the pockets I have stamps and receipts or other stuff I might need randomly. It's a whole big thing but I've been doing it for years and I love it.

    1. Wowwww I actually like what you do, it sounds very organized! And the pockets are key because when I have papers I want to keep with me I just fold them up and shove them in my planner!

  5. I love that your new planner gives equal space to all the days! It's a pet peeve of mine when planners try to squish Saturday and Sunday into the same space.

I don't use a paper planner at the moment, but with my previous job as a social worker I did, as I'd carry it around with me on visits (and I obsessively picked out the one with my preferred layout, which is Mon-Sun on one page and then the opposite page being lined for notes ;))

    1. Also, I had to really focus on writing the word 'planner' here instead of 'diary,' but when I first moved to the UK I never thought I'd get the hang of using the term 'diary' (and laughed inside like a child whenever it was used) :p

    2. I didn't even notice that! I tend to do more on Sats and Suns so I want equal space for sure, if not more! Oh I love the word diary for a planner! So British!!
