Friday 5! (The Cat Littler Saga)

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Here's a short, 1 minute read for you!

(It's supposed to be less than 5 minutes but I'm an overachiever! Or would that be underachiever?)

Remember back on January 30th, when I posted about how Paul and I did something crazy? We drove around to three stores and bought as much cat litter as we could. We always need cat litter, and I'm tired of going to the store several times a month to go and pick it up. I wanted to stock up!

We ended up with 345 pounds of cat litter.

"How long will it last you?" many people asked.

"Oh I don't know, six months, eight months, somewhere around there. I'll let you know," I would reply.

And I was confidant in that prediction, I promise!

Well, on Wednesday after work, I picked up Paul and we headed to Weis for some odds and ends.

"I have to tell you something," Paul said as he got in the car.

"What!?" I asked.

Paul took a deep breath. "We need cat litter," he said.

"NOOOOOO!!!!!!"

"Yep. We only have about 10 pounds left."

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??? We bought all that litter on January 29 and now it is gone!?

Guys, what are we doing wrong? We're going to figure it out.

Oh, and from now on I'm going to have cat litter delivered to our house via Chewy or Amazon. I'm on it.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I don't have a cat so advice there! Kind of reminds me of how you always run out of diapers when your kids are little!

  4. Oh wow that's a lot! Are you overfilling the box? Like are you cleaning the box because it's full but there's still a lot of fresh litter in there too? My mom only puts a little litter in the box and cleans it every day. When Cecil had a regular litter box I would always overfill it and end up throwing away a lot of untouched litter. Having an automatic litter box has fixed that since I only have to change the box cartridge once per month, but I don't think it would be economical with more than one cat.

Each cartridge costs me $15 and changing it once per month is about what I would spend on litter. But with two cats you'd probably have to change twice per month which would make it pretty expensive. Then again it does have other benefits, like not having to ever scoop or look at the poop and that's worth something! haha

    1. I will have to ask Paul about overfilling the box and dumping too soon. Honestly, he is the one that does the litter box, not me! I'm glad you don't have to deal with poop! Chrissy is a DICK and does not cover his up...

  5. Since Gizmo is older & paying a lot, we are definitely going through a lot more litter. And he's just one cat! We have been ordering it via Chewy for the most part. Their packaging isn't always the greatest, but still it's very convenient.

Cat are all different. Some don't need a lot of litter in their box, but some (like Giz) do.

    1. Yes I suppose I should keep in mind that maybe my cats need more litter. Chrissy does poop A LOT. And it's pretty much human size.

  6. Wow! That’s a ton of litter! I have three cats but don’t use a litter box. I live out in the woods so my cats use a dog door to got out when they need

    1. Lucky kitties! I wish our cats could go outside but they are indoor kitties.

  7. Has Paul secretly been selling the litter? This feels like a conversation I used to have with Roger about TP... how do we go through so much toilet paper?!

  8. I only have one cat, and I know she doesn't like a lot of litter in there. I read sometimes cats feel like they're sinking in the litter and don't like it.

    1. Cats are very particular about litter I think. And since Chrissy will go outside the litterbox, we want the litter box to be as close to the way he likes it as possible.

  9. That's funny - last time I bought litter I got a different brand. Hated it! We are just finally done with it. It seemed to last forever! Hopefully my house doesn't smell bad to other people. I don't dump out the old litter that often (emptying the entire box and refilling it).

    1. I think part of our problem is one of our litter boxes is in our dining room. Our house is small and we don't have like a laundry room or something on our first floor where we could put it. Any room we would put it in is living space, you know what I mean? We do have one in our actual laundry room in the basement but our cats need one on each floor.

  10. Yikes! See? You could afford the meal service if your cats used less litter! :P

  11. Oh my gosh! This is hilarious. Sounds totally like a conversation my hubs and I would have, haha. I don't know much about cat litter (dog people here!), but we have dog food on Amazon Subscribe & Save and it was a GAME CHANGER!!

    1. That's awesome you found a good deal on your food! Paul still hasn't looked at Chewy yet so I will have him check out Amazon too.

      Ps. I love dogs too!
