Weekly Workouts

It's been more of the same this week!

Saturday- 6 steaming hot miles. Wow. I didn't realize it would be so hot today. I felt weak during this run, but it was my fault. I waited until almost noon to head out and I didn't have anything to eat at all beforehand. I actually had a little upset stomach by the time I was done. It was totally my fault.

Sunday- Lifting back @ home. I didn't feel like lifting, but I was due.

Monday- 6 morning miles. Jelly always stretches with me after.

Tuesday- 6 morning miles. Awesome podcast to listen to! It was my very last Big Brother 19 podcast. It is over. Boohoo! (Now time for Survivor!!!)

Wednesday- 6 more morning miles... my workout recaps are so interesting, aren't they!?

Thursday- Lifting chest @ home. I was up at 3:30 and couldn't fall back asleep. Ugh. It was a LONG DAY.

Friday- Lifting back @ home. I woke up at 3:30 again. EFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!

How were your workouts this week?

Friday 5

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, my theme for Friday 5 is:

5 Pictures from this Week!

1. I have the best husband ever. Earlier this week, a friend from school gave me a big Gertrude Hawk chocolate bar. I ate about 1/4 of it. I told Paul there was chocolate in the fridge for him. He ate the whole thing! I didn't realize he was going to eat all of it... it was so big. I thought he would leave some for me. Well, I guess I flipped out expressed my opinion clearly because when I got home from school the next day, this was waiting for me!

2. Gross!!! On Wednesday morning, a huge thousand legger scampered across my living room and under the couch! Never fear, Jelly was on the case. He was still staked out there when I left for work. I wonder if he got it?

3. I saw this quote on Facebook, and I love it.

4. We're ready! I was at Dollar General so I picked up some Halloween Candy. We may as well be prepared, right!?

5. Thursday was a crap-tastic day. It began at 3:30am... when I woke up but COULD NOT FALL BACK ASLEEP. However, it was my first bad day of the school year, and it's nearly the end of September, so that's not bad. I got home from work and just crashed... for a little. Then I had to teach three piano lessons. I felt like this squirrel that was outside our window on Tuesday...

It was just one of those days...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tell me something fun you're doing this weekend!
Did you buy Halloween candy yet?

Fall Shopping Haul (Part 2)

If you missed the first part of my Fall Shopping Haul, check it out here!

When last we left off, I had left TJ Maxx and got lunch at Panera so I could gear up for Ross. BUT... I forgot to show you something I got at TJ's!!!!!

I got myself the cutest peep toe booties. They are a light green/grey/brown color. The fabric is canvas. They are comfortable, I swear. The brand is Blowfish. I wear a size 7.5.

These are the one item I bought that I just know I don't need at all. And they are kind of trendy, so who knows how long they will be in style? AND I may not be able to wear them through winter due to the open toe aspect.

I asked for some opinions from friends, and the consensus was they are cute, but are they practical for winter?

WELL I BOUGHT THEM! I will just get frostbite on my toes, I don't care. I love them. I don't need my toes for running, do I!?

But... I just loved them!!!!

They were $29.99... A little much for shoes I DON'T NEED.

The sweater I am wearing with this outfit is from Community Aid, a local thrift store. It was $4.99. Don't hate me! I already owned the leggings.

I am excited to figure out what other outfits will look good with these shoes! I am open to suggestions! What do you think about if I wore brown or black tights with the shoes in the winter? Is that too weird?

I feel like I should've dedicated a whole post to the awesome booties... but I didn't. Hang tight, I have some more looks to show you!

This is sort of cheating, but I want to show you a top and pair of black pants/leggings I got at Ross a couple weeks ago. The top was $11.99 and is a cool, stretchy, thin, flannel. It is so thin I have to wear a cami under it.

The pants look like black dress pants because they have pockets on the butt and a zipper... but they are thin and stretchy like leggings. They are SO COMFY. They were $11.99.

Here's another look with the black pants/leggings. I paired them with a Liz Claiborne sweater I got at the Community Aid thrift store for $5.99. Don't hate me!!!

One more look with the black dress/stretchy pants... I call this, Sporty Meg! I owned the shoes and vest already. But the black top with the little white flecks in it was from Target and was $10. Like I said, I don't have a lot of long sleeve tops. And I like how this one is basic and casual so I can wear it under my plethora of vests...

Here's a close up so you can see the color of the top better...

This grey dress is a thin, almost fleece like material. It is going to be so warm. I wasn't sure how it was going to look on, but I liked it a lot! I could see myself dressing it up like I did in the picture, or dressing it down with the blue puffy vest and sneaks in the above picture.

The dress was $14.99.

At Ross, I also got a black cardigan ($9.99) and maroon leggings ($4.99). I wear leggings a lot in the winter and it is nice to have long cardigans that cover my bum!

Next, I ventured to Target because I was hoping to find a wine rack. I didn't find one, but I found this look which I FREAKING LOVE!!!!

Oops, top is from Ross, actually. $12.99!

I love the criss cross on the shoulders.

JUST LOOK AT THESE PANTS!!!
THEY ARE GREY LEGGINGS!
I LOVE THE DETAILS!
They are completely stretchy and comfy but they look like jeans.
$14.99

They're a little weird on the top.... they go up over my belly button!

I also got some opaque tights at Target. I wear these under dresses in the winter.

Not pictured: Two pairs of THICK black leggings. I bought 2 pairs for $5.99 each. I had black leggings but they were thing and had pills all over them...

Remember how I went to the thrift store? I got a puzzle for my grandma and a puzzle for me!

And while I was at Target, I was in search of hair dye that wouldn't give me a headache and make me feel sick... This stuff worked, but it didn't cover my greys very well. So much for amonia free...

Fall Shopping Haul (Part 1)

On Sunday, I felt like putzing around my favorite putzing stores... TJ Maxx and Ross. I also ended up at Target and Community Aid (a local thrift store). It was fun to be out and about while everyone was home watching football!

Sometimes I go out putzing and don't buy anything. On this day, I bought quite a lot! I didn't need clothes, but everything I bought (besides one pair of shoes) will be useful, will last me a long time, is versatile, and goes with the wardrobe I already have.

There is a part of me that feels guilty for buying new clothes and shoes. I have plenty of clothes and shoes. Everything I'm showing you today is just... stuff. But despite that, I had a lot of fun shopping and I also am really excited to wear my new looks!

Lately, when shopping for clothes, one of the things I have considered when picking out items is that I'm thirty-five freaking years old. I know, age is just a number. And I do believe that it doesn't matter how old you are, there is a time and a place for all kinds of different looks.

For instance, in the summer (when I'm not at work), I always wear super short jean shorts. I feel comfortable in them and it is  summer for goodness sake. (In fact, I wore them out shopping. See the above picture. You can't even see them because they are so short and my purse is covering them!) I will continue to wear short jean shorts for as long as I want. But should I be wearing jean shorts with hearts on the back pocket? Probably not. I always see lots of cute jogger pants at Ross that I would like to wear but they usually have sparkles on them or say "LOVE" in big letters down one of the legs. Can't do that. I'm thirty-five.

Here's example of a shirt I liked, but I realized it was too young looking:

If it had the Cali bear logo on it instead of the number 23 and the hearts, I probably would've gotten it. Especially because it was a nice, thick, knit material.

Sorry for the tangent, I just wanted to mention my age has definitely been on my mind lately while buying clothes.

Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls are great places to go to see what the new fashion styles are. I will admit, sometimes I have to see certain trends A LOT before I decide I like them. I know it doesn't make sense... if I have to make myself like something, do I really like it? But I was feeling adventurous so I tried on two sweaters that when first looking at them, I was like... ummmm wtf!?

I did like both of these sweaters. Especially the one with the criss cross down the side. But I opted not to get them.

I did buy the jeans! I wasn't even looking for jeans, but I grabbed a pair to use to try on with all of the shirts. I ended up really liking them! I don't have black jeans and I don't have any jeans with holes in the knees. The jeans are thicker than jeggings, they have pockets on the back and a zipper in the front. But they are very stretchy and comfortable. I got them in the junior's department (where I get most of my pants) and they were $16.99. Not bad for well made pants that hopefully won't go out of style anytime soon! I generally wear a junior's size 7 pant. My butt and my thighs just do not get into 5's anymore!

Close up of the jeans with holes.

The shirt I am wearing with the jeans was only $12.99. I got it because I liked the flowing sleeves, the color, and the criss cross down the front. And I actually don't have a lot of long sleeve shirts.

Here's another sweater I tried on because I felt adventurous. I did not buy it...

But I did buy the floral leggings! I knew just the outfit I would wear them with...

I knew my black boots would make the flowers less crazy. The only thing new with this outfit are the leggings- $5.99!

I also got some house stuff while I was out and about. When I saw this, I thought about getting it for myself.

Then I thought of getting it for Kristina, but I figured with her new job, she may not want everyone to know she is a crazy cat woman just yet!

We burn candles in our house when we have people over to lessen the cat pee smell. I normally get Yankees, and I thought I got a Yankee, but I GOT DUPED!!!! Look how they make this font look JUST like Yankee!

I was all pleased with myself because all the Yankees were $12.99 except this one... I was like "Yeeeeah I found the one Yankee that was $9.99!" Well, it's not a Yankee. It better be fragrant!

I also got some room spray. I liked the smell of this. It reminds me of Christmas. It was $3.99.

I also got this little decoration. I know, "It is well with my soul" is biblical, but I have always liked the saying. To me the saying means something like, "I got this". I'm sure that's not what it's supposed to mean but I like it.

By now, I was getting super hungry, so before I headed to Ross, I grabbed some lunch at Panera. I had a gift card!

Half cobb salad, cup of autumn squash, French bread!
IT WAS DIVINE.
(Also, can I mention that 5 years ago, when I was way into my disordered eating, there is no way I would've eaten this lunch and then went and tried on more clothes. I would have felt I was too "fat". How messed up is that?)

Oh my, this is getting long! I better post part two tomorrow! Let's see what I bought so far shall we...

Purplish/Pink long sleeve- $12.99
Black stretch jeans w/ knee holes- $16.99
Floral Leggings- $5.99

Clothing Total: $35.97

Faux Yankee Candle- $9.99
Room spray- $3.99
Biblical deocration- $4.99

"Stuff" Total: $18.97

Panera: FREE!!! Gift card, bitches!!!!!
Are you ever adventurous when trying on clothes?

What's your favorite thing at Panera?

Are there any styles you like but feel you are too "old" for?

Am I too late on the floral trend? I THINK I MIGHT BE!!!
