True Crime Podcasts You Need To Listen To

I was surprised at how many people were interested in my post last week about the Missy Bevers case! I found this awesome Web Slueths thread to read. Some of you have told me you watched the Nancy Grace video and the Brain Scratch video as well.

Today we're talking TRUE CRIME PODCASTS, because honestly, there are a ton of cases out there that are fascinating.

All of these podcasts (except Sword and Scale) were at CrimeCon! I will let you know if I met any of the hosts or attended any live recordings!

The hosts of this podcast do a deep dive into different cases every week. This is one of my favorite true crime podcasts tied with...

.... Another one of my favorite true crime podcasts! Again, a different case each week and they just chat about it.

I met the hosts at CrimeCon!

This podcast is exactly what it sounds like. Each episode focuses on a different missing persons case. Meranda got me interested in cases where people have gone missing and have never been found.

This podcast examines the 2005 murder of Tara Grinstead. Be sure to listen to this podcast in order and don't get spoiled! There actually is some closure in this case. This is one of those podcasts that I liked at first but then the host got really annoying to me.

This podcast is hosted by two dudes that were working on a documentary on the disappearance of UMass student Maura Murray. I got really into this case for awhile. It really is fascinating! If you follow this case, please leave a comment and let me know your theories on what you think happened to Maura! I lean toward her getting a ride with the wrong person and then getting abducted. I don't think she's alive.

One of the hosts of this podcast is Jim Clemente, a retired FBI profiler. If you watched the CBS documentary on JonBenet, he was one of the investigators who reexamined that crime. Sometimes the podcast will spend several episodes on a case (OJ, Amanda Knox, JonBenet, etc.) and sometimes they will just spend one episode. I love learning about crime from the profiling angle!

I saw a live taping of this podcast at CrimeCon!

And I met the host!

This podcast examines the 1978 unsolved murder of Beth Andes. It is fascinating to listen to because the investigator interviews people directly involved with the case!

This one is hit or miss for me, but some of the episodes are really good. Luckily, each episode has a pretty good description of it on iTunes so I can download the ones I think I may like. Warning: This is the MOST GRAPHIC podcast I have ever listened to. I have heard some really uncomfortable things on this podcast, so listen at your own risk. If it makes me uncomfortable, you know it's bad!

This is another one that is hit or miss for me, but again it's easy to download only the ones that look interesting. Each episode is about a different case or mystery.

I saw a live taping of this podcast at CimeCon!

If you love Nancy Grace and all of her antics, you will like this podcast. It's relatively short- usually between 15-25 minutes. In my opinion, it's just the right amount of Nancy.

I met Nancy at CrimeCon!!!!!

Beth Karas is a former prosecutor and legal analyst. On her podcast, she discusses cases and trials and asks really thought provoking legal questions. I didn't even know she had a podcast until I was at Crime Con!

I met Beth at CrimeCon!!!!!

Have you listened to any of these podcasts?
Did I miss any good ones?

  1. How long are these podcasts usually?
Did you ever watch that TV show called "Vanished" hosted by Beth Halloway?

    1. Hmmm good question, I should have included that, it would have been helpful. Generation Why and True Crime Garage are normally at little over an hour up to an hour and a half. Most nany graces are 25 min. The others are 45min-1 he. I have not watched the Beth glossy show yet!

  2. I was into the Maura Murray case at first too - but I thought the podcast got boring pretty fast. Once I knew the basics I couldn't help but notice how often they talked about those basics without adding anything new. I mostly agree with you. I think she ran - and then got into the wrong persons car or came across someone. I don't think she's alive either. I do think it's strange that her body was never found though after all these years! I mean whatever happened must have been a crime of opportunity - how did they have a plan for disposing of the body so well?

    1. Well if it's a rando person who got her, it makes it harder to find the body. She could be buried on someone's property. And if they are truly someone random and not connected to her, then how would they find that person without a witness? I hope someday we find out though. I do have a q for you about it but I will pm you.

    2. See I was thinking that someone would pick her up, kill her and then look for a quick way to dispose of the body by just tossing it in the woods or something. I could see it being buried on their property though, especially if it's someone who has committed other heinous crimes. Personally I wouldn't want my murder victim buried in my backyard where I have to be reminded of him/her all the time but then again I would never commit a murder in the first place!

    3. Yah, I wouldn't bury them on my property either, and I agree a quick dump in the woods, BUT what if he drove her somewhere farther away from the scene of the accident, killed her, and then dumped her somewhere that they never even searched?

  3. A couple people told me about The Keepers. I am just so bad at trying new tv shows, even if I think I will like it. I can't explain it.

  4. I know your expertise on this. I must say we should have an online discussion on this. Writing only comments will close the discussion straight away! And will restrict the benefits from this information.

  6. Bloggers who don’t have time or don’t like to read may prefer to listen to audio content or watch videos. BeyondPod allows you to subscribe, download, listen to audio podcasts and watch video podcasts on-the-go. This app is extremely useful for bloggers who are driving a lot because for them, there is very little reading time.
