Goooood Tuesday morning to you!

Monday came fast and hard. I was up late Sunday night watching the debate... then post debate coverage. I was all hyped up and it took awhile for me to wind down and actually fall asleep. It makes me wonder how the candidates sleep? I would NOT be able to sleep after all that has been going on this election. I'm so glad I do not aspire to be president...

Since I barely got any sleep, I had an awesome run! That is seriously what happens. If I get less than 5 hours of sleep, I run fast and it feels effortless.

My appetite has been so weird lately. I was starving after my run but the thought of cereal (which is what I normally have for breakfast) did not sound appetizing. So I ate a ham and cheese sandwich on the way to work. PERFECT!

It was a super busy day at work. Class from 9:00-10:25, then 11:40-3:15 straight. It's that 3.5. hours of straight teaching in the afternoon that really... breaks me. It's a long time to hold my shit together. And when I say hold my shit together, I mean be a really good teacher!

Around lunchtime, my eyes started to feel heavy and I got that feeling you get when you know you're about to get sick. Ugh. I do not feel like being sick this week! But then again, who does feel like getting sick?

Oh man I loved How I Met Your Mother!

I ended up going home and relaxing all night. I scheduled a sick day for the next day because if 12 years of teaching has taught me one thing, I've learned that I need to REST when I am sick or things get much worse!
Did you watch How I Met Your Mother?
Are you able to take sick days? Believe me, I feel fortunate that I get sick leave because not everyone gets that.

  1. Oh, no...don't get sick! How are you feeling today? HPE does give us sick time (kind of us much as we need) but w/ the ability to work from home, I don't usually take any sick days--even last February I had a sinus infection that tried to take me down in a big way. I still worked (sometimes from bed). I felt so bad with my infection but I knew I would feel worse getting way behind at work (no one covers my job if I am not there...). Take care of yourself, girl.

    1. I feel better right now! I got 11 hours of sleep! I am sure that helped. :) I can understand how you would not want to fall behind since you have to make it all up anyway. I have to have sub plans out which are a pain but if I spend the time to do it they can be used more than once- you know, since I see all the kids in the school. Now of course there are certain times during the year where I just could not be sick unless I was on my deathbed... like concert season!

  2. I hate that feeling where you know you are about to get sick. I hope you can fight it off! I loved How I Met Your Mother and definitely miss it!

  3. I hope you woke up feeling better this morning! I get sick leave and am able to work from home if I'm not feeling 100% but also not feeling 0% which is nice and allows me to conserve my sick days for when I got hit hard! I'm sure the kitties are happy to have you home, and are more than ready to lay in bed with you all day if need be!

    1. I did wake up feeling better! I slept for 11 hours. :) I think that helped! That is awesome you can work from home if need be. I am sure that helps people who have family members to take care of or if you have a dr. appt. close to home and you can just work from home for the day. I woke up to both kitties laying in bed with me!

  4. I know four people who've gotten sick in the last week. I got my flu shot Sunday because work's bringing them in on Halloween. Too late, especially with my sample size. I do not want to get sick, and can't right now. Too much going on!

    1. My work offered flu shots yesterday but they were in a different building and only offered them during a 2 hour window... in which I had class! I'm disappointed that they did not make it easier for us to get them. What do they think we can do, tell our students "Hey I'll brb!"

  5. I get sick days but I work from home so I usually work when I'm sick. If I'm too sick to work I am definitely too sick to run or even leave the house. In fact I have so many sick days that I've had to take a few when I was well just to avoid losing them! But I don't blame you to take a sick day if you need it, you know your body best. Hope you can get some rest as well.

    1. That is nice that you have plenty of sick days you can use. We do not lose sick days, they carry over, and then when we retire, we get paid for them. BUT there is a cap. So some people retire with like 200 sick days but maybe only get paid for half of them or something. (And the pay is not good, it's not an actual day's pay.) So the more I teach and the more I accumulate sick days, I have taken them if I feel like it will help me feel better. It is hard to get better when you're on your feet singing, moving, and talking all day!

  6. I hope you are feeling better today! Roger and I were all wound up after the debate too, and I only watched for 5 minutes! I spent more time on twitter than on the debate.

We are able to use our sick days, the worst part used to be the guilt trips from previous managers... but that is no longer the case.

    1. I am glad no one guilts you anymore. NO one should be guilty for using their earned sick time!

  7. I love when I can get a good run in after very little sleep. I always feel like I'm cheating. :O)

I hope you were able to rest and stave off whatever bug was trying to get you down.

  8. I'm glad you're already feeling a bit better. Teachers get exposed to all the germs!!!

  9. I hope this sick day got all the sickies out of you!

I felt a head cold coming on the other day and thought I was gonna get sick but I felt fine. Today I sneezed like 50 times in the morning then could tell my voice was getting rough. I do feel fine though. I've been spraying my throat with Halo!

We love How I met you Mother but like with most shows, we discovered it several seasons into it!

By the way, I would totally vote for you if you were in politics!

    1. LOL! I guess if I ever run for anything I will have two votes- you and my mom! :)

I kind of like when I find shows late because that means I can binge watch!

I hope you don't get sick! I never heard of Halo.

  10. I was exhausted on Monday, too. Stupid debate. Around noon I began to feel totally lethargic and just DONE for the day. Luckily the weather was nice because it gave me a second wind to go get a run in. I need to go to bed earlier! I've been tired all week!!

  11. Well let me clarify, I run well if it's just one night of no sleep. More than that and I am fucked!
