Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday! This is my week:

Monday: Teach kids
Tuesday: In-service
Wednesday: In-service
Thursday-Monday: THANKSGIVING VACATION!

I don't know how I got through the work day on Friday, but I channeled my inner "patient person" (assuming I have one) and somehow made it until 3:40pm.

When I got home, Paul had just gotten home from radiation and was starving. (He has to fast for 5 hours during the day due to his chemo, so some days he winds up really hungry around 4pm!) We ordered Chinese food and ate it while watching an old season of Survivor (Samoa) on CBS All Access. We never saw this season before, and it is GOOD! We hate Russell but we are extremely entertained by him!

I went to bed early and fell asleep in less than 10 minutes while reading the new book I got...

I <3 Christopher Pike!

I slept like a ROCK and didn't wake up once during the night. Around 7:30am, I got up due to the fact that there were two kitty cats laying on top of me and licking my face. I love it!

 Paul took these.

The first thing I did was make my famous pumpkin cookies so we could give them to Paul's nurses and technicians on Sunday.

The second thing I did was give Paul a piano lesson since he hadn't gotten one in like two months!

The third thing I did was freaking KILL my training run!

After a mega stretching session, my friend JK-L came over to chat and play games. She is one of the only people I know who loves to play Scrabble. But I have been beating her because she plays "nice". She plays where you try to lay words down so you can open up the board and have a nice big, beautiful word design. I play to WIN. Our playing styles definitely don't mesh, so I am not sure if she will play it with me again!

That evening, we were supposed to go to a surprise birthday party for one of our friends, but halfway there, Paul really started to feel crappy, so we decided to turn around and go home. Unfortunately, we were on the turnpike, and the next turn around spot was like 18 miles away! So yeah, we drove 60 miles on the turnpike that day for NOTHING. But at least we got to talk to each other. Paul felt better later on in the evening... well enough to lay on the coach and watch Survivor with me!

Here is Sunday in "list" format since I am feeling LISTY!

1. Sunday started with a "quick" trip to Baltimore for Paul's treatment.

2. Then I did some major grocery shopping at a super crowded Aldi.

3. I lifted while Paul watched football.

4. We popped in at my bro's house for some family time.

5. Paul watched more football while I blogged and puzzled.

I will leave you with a picture of one of my beautiful babies...

What were you up to this weekend?

  1. This weekend was a blur! I'm more of a fan of three day weekends. ;) I feel like Nova Scotia has moved on from pumpkins to peppermint now, lol. I'd love pumpkin cookies right now though!

    1. I think maybe that is because your Thanksgiving is over? Also it's less than a month until CHRISTMAS :)

  2. Hey Megan--how is Paul feeling w/ his treatments overall? Is the end in sight? I hope so. I know the effects can be cumulative so praying it's coming to an end for both of you. Awesome job on the run. Super speedy, my friend. We took a trip to IKEA on Saturday morning. Stressful. We are both not shoppers and that store is massive and there is only one way to get thru it and you have to look at everything! Got home in time to watch both our college football games (YAY). Sunday was typical, put on football while Rick watches/works on his puzzle and I watch/bake and cook. Super relaxing....Now I have the week off and I'm not mad about it :)

    1. The effects are definitely presenting themselves and it is beginning to take a toll on him. Nausea, stomachaches, headaches, hair loss, tired, and weak is what he is feeling now. It also appears like he is sun burned due to the radiation hitting the side of his head. The end IS in sight- he has about 13 more treatments to go!

Oh my word I can't imagine how crazy Ikea was! That is awesome you have a week off! I hope it's very relaxing! That is funny that Rick was puzzling and footballing because last night I was puzzling while Paul footballed!

    2. I know you are giving him lots of TLC! IKEA is a nightmare (for us, at least). Very overwhelming and I think their stuff is just not that nice. Rick has been a puzzling fool, I tell ya. In fact, we ventured out only for Himalayan sea salt for me and 2 more puzzles for him! It forces him out of his recliner but yet he can still watch/listen to all the games! P.S. I would totally play Scrabble w/ you. LOVE that game. Do you play on FB?

    3. Oh yes, I am def taking care of him. Sometimes he lets me, sometimes he doesn't!

I do not play Scrabble on FB, I didn't know you could do it!

    4. That makes sense and it is hard as a caregiver not to want to do everything but we gotta step back when asked (even though I am really bad at this). Oh, yes, there is a Scrabble game on FB. If you decide you want to play just start a game with me :) I love it and only play w/ one friend right now and she is so good and always kicks my ass but I guess that helps me learn :)

  3. Also feeling listy:
    1. Russell is fantastically evil/awesome! My aunt Terri named her dog after him.
    2. Even with radiation, you and Paul accomplished more in a weekend than I get done most WEEKS.
    3. That pic of Jelly is great. I feel like it could be a meme. Imagine the captions!

    1. LOL I can't wait to tell Paul Terri named her dog after Russell! We laugh at him soooo much. I mean, the very first episode he secretly roasted someone's sock in the fire just for the hell of it, then whoever owned the sock was complaining that he couldn't find his sock and he was getting blisters. Hahahahaha! Hey Jelly would be a good meme! I will start brainstorming!

  4. This pics of you and your cats are priceless! I hope Paul is feeling ok and wish him all the best. We're kicking off crazy season. So much to do and here SO much snow!

    1. Aaaaugh snow! We had the coldest morning today. My butt and legs were FROZEN on my run. But no snow. I don't even think it's in the forecast at all yet.

  5. Megan, can we have a very serious talk? Seeing a man in saggy grey underwear first thing on a Monday morning is not good for my soul. It's just not the quality content I have come to expect from your blog. Then again I am not sure I am in a place to complain since I have a man in his underwear on my blog today too LOL

Look at those fluffy kitties!!! <3

    1. We are underwear twins!!!! Hahaha I can't wait to go over to your blog and hopefully it's a better looking man than the one I posted! :)

  6. What a nice weekend! Cats and a great run...sounds good to me. Actually, we didn't do much either. I blame the snow.

  7. Soooo jealous that you get TWO in-service days! We have Thursday - Monday off too, but we only have in-service Wednesday. We have kids today and tomorrow, though tomorrow is the pep rally so it will just be an entire day of chaos!!

    1. Ugh I can empathize with those days- when there is an assembly or something crazy it's like, why are we even here today!? Yes I am so happy it is just one day with kids.

  8. I hope Paul is feeling better soon. That really sucks :( I hope he starts feeling better.

You set a 3 minute PR on a *training run*?! That is so insane. Congrats! So is your new BDR goal to beat 1:35 now?

I'm sorry, I just don't get school district scheduling. Is there some reason it wouldn't make more sense to just have a nice whole week off this week instead of the students having a one day week and then having next Monday off? This is really setting off my anal-retentiveness. It's like stopping a run at 4.98 miles.

    1. I don't know WHAT my BDR goal should be now becaaaause... it could be hot in FL. :/ Obviously I would love to do better than my training run. :)

Okay i will tell you why we have it odd- in PA the monday after Thanksgiving is the first day of deer hunting season so we have off schooL! Doesn't that make us all sound like hicks!!!??? I do NOT hunt and no one in my family hunts.

    2. LOL a day off for the start of hunting season! Hey, I'd take it. I feel better now. I mean, that makes me laugh, but at least they have a reason for the weird schedule.

    3. I was both excited and ashamed to tell you the reason. :)

  9. That is precisely why I posted the picture- Christmas is always READY!!!!

13 more treatments for Paul! He can DO IT and I will TAKE CARE OF HIM. :) I don't know why I capitalized all that. Just wanted to pump us up for these last 3 weeks of treatments!

  10. Awe, I love the kitty licking photos!!! Congrats on that half marathon PR. Holy smoking FAST! And isn't Chinese food the BEST when you're starving?!?!

    1. Yes and apparently chinese is good for PRs too! Chinese and frostys!!! :)

  11. Praying for you and Paul...hang in there. You are still wildly productive! I gave piano lessons this am, and was excited about teaching Christmas music! We have 3 days off--can't wait.

  13. Congrats on your unofficial PR, you're going to kill your race!!! I just have tomorrow with my kiddos at school and then we are on break. It is a much needed break for both of us, I'm sure!

    1. You know I never stop and consider whether the kids need a break from us... hahaha!

  15. I have no excuse, but sometimes I eat dinner at 4pm, too. I think it's because I want to be in bed by 8, even though that never happens.

    1. Well and also because you probably get up really early too! It gets to be a long wait until dinner...
