MGR Updates!

Hello! My Weekend Wrap Up will be posted tomorrow. For now, I have a couple updates for you!

1. Not to brag, but I had all of my indoor Christmas decorations put away on Dec 26th and all of my outdoor ones away by Dec 27th. I feel relieved all traces of Christmas are gone from my house, especially since I didn't want to decorate this year in the first place.

Before...

After!

2. My nails are getting so long. I think they are going to need cut soon! I have actually never cut my nails before, I have only ever bitten them. I will have to find a Youtube video showing me how!

3. I made a quiche! I always thought quiche was hard to make but it's actually not. I made it with spinach, feta, and chicken sausage. Paul loved it so much that after we are the whole thing (in less than two days) I made another quiche the exact same way. Next, I will start experimenting with different ingredients. I think bacon, cheddar, and broccoli is up first!

4. We power cleaned our house over winter break. Every closet, cabinet, and drawer is organized and the place is spic and span. I even vacuumed the cobwebs in the space between the window panes and window screens! It feels good. Outer order, inner calm.

Look at that clean fridge!

5. I FOUND MY KEYS!!!! They were missing for weeks! Guess where they were? In our storage room in the basement mixed in with some outdoor extension cords.

I know exactly what happened... When I came home from work one day, I must have grabbed the extra extension cords from the carport to put them away in storage. I'm sure I had my keys in my hands too so when I set the cords down, I didn't notice I left my keys there. I can't believe I finally found them! I thought they were gone forever!

(Oh, I also found those sponges I lost on the way home from CVS. They were in a reusable grocery bag. Now I just need to find my jacket and my life will be in order.)
Do you have any quiche ingredient suggestions for me?

Am I overthinking the cutting of my nails?

When was the last time you POWER CLEANED?

  1. Do you know how proud I am of you! You told me SO many times you could not quit biting your nails. Now look at you. I never let mine get so long that I actually have to cut them. I just file them down (as you know I wear them super short). You could try a Mexican quiche and put in chorizo and some bell peppers and cheese. I think that would be good. Oh, how nice to power clean your house. A few years back I watched Minimalism documentary and did a huge clean. Then we have a cleaning gal that comes 2x per month so what I do it put a box in our laundry room and over the course of a month I fill it up and then take it to Good Will. I did not think I would fill one final box yesterday but I did and it felt awesome to get rid of even more stuff. I hate clutter! Happy last day of 2018, Megan!

    1. You are the reason Susan. You told me to paint them and that was the game changer. A Mexican quiche sounds divine! Do you clean in between the cleaning gal? You know what Gretchin Rubin says.... outer order, inner calm! I love getting rid of clutter too.

    2. I am glad I could help "coach" you, but like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, you had the power all along :) Now if you just lived here I would treat you to a manicure! I don't clean in between. We keep our house totally picked up (Rick is neat, too) and I will clean my kitchen since we are always cooking and baking but I just let the dust settle. I thought it would bother me to not clean, but just the opposite. I am fine just waiting as long and there is no clutter. And now I have GR's voice inside my head saying outer order, inner calm. Uh, thanks. LOL.

  2. I am so proud of you for growing your bails and they looked so pretty with that polish in that pic you posted the other day. No, you are not overthinking cutting them, although its not that difficult but you do need to commit on a shape. Some people cut their nails so they are more square, some cut so they are more rounded, and some bring theirs to a point (don't do the point...lol).

I am impressed that you took your decorations down right away. I like to go into the new year with less clutter so I do take down my inside decoration before the New Year. I actually put away all my inside decorations last night and took down all the trees except the big one ( I took all the ornaments off of it though). It's a sad time of year to put everything away, but I'm always anxious to bet more organized and bring in the new year

I haven't made quiche in a long time but I remember putting spinach in it. This may be something I'll start experimenting with!

    1. Yes you should totally make a quiche! I like that my house looks less cluttered when the decorations are way too. I think I want rounded nails. When they grow naturally, they are like a square, but then they get caught on things I feel like it's more likely they will break and I will accidentally bite them!

  3. Wow, awesome stuff! Our xmas stuff won't be coming down for another week. My next door neighbors had a ton of stuff outside, and they took theirs down on Dec 26th. It was a really nice day outside, so that may have been the extra motivation. I do have plans to clean up and purge a lot of stuff around here. It's a great feeling! (and yum, quiche!!)

    1. It was a nice day for us on the 26th too! I had to take advantage. Our neighbor has more stuff than us and it's still up! I love looking at it but also feel smug that mine is away already. :)
