5 Random Things!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

It's the most magical day of the week... Friday! And it's November 2nd, which means only 20 days until I can put up all of my outdoor Christmas decorations!

Today, I'm going to share 5 Random Things about the week.

1. I decided I want to stop biting my nails. On the way to work on Wednesday, I decided now would be as good of time as any to stop. So I made the decision. October 31, 2018... the end of an era...

BUT THEN 10 MINUTES LATER I ACCIDENTALLY BIT A NAIL!

SHIT!!!

Guys, this is going to be harder than I thought. I bite my nails without even thinking, especially in the car. I think I need to wear gloves for the next two weeks. Seriously.

2. On Halloween, I wore a cat mask to school and the kids loved it! Sure, it riled them up a bit for music class, but I decided to be Zen and just roll with it. It's Halloween after all. Let them have some fun!

Can we talk about why there is still a TV and VCR in my classroom? I have not used them in YEARS.

3. After school on Wednesday, I popped into Ross to kill time before my PT appointment. All the Christmas Yankee Candles were on display and it was very hard not to buy any.

4. After a couple months break from puzzles (the beginning of the school year was super busy), I finally started busting them out again. Chrissy is happy.

5. This weekend is going to be full of friends! I have plans on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to hang out with various friends. I can't wait! I need girl time.

I am linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5!
Did you dress up for Halloween?
Tell me something random about your week!

  1. Do you think if you paint your nails it will remind you to stop biting them? I know you can do this -- no excuses, Megan. LOL. Here's something random I can share (even though Rick and I have decided to keep it a secret until it gets closer) ... we are getting a new puppy! We put a deposit down and we go visit this weekend. Pups are three weeks old. At five weeks old we can pick out the female we want but honestly, we will take any of them. We are just thrilled to have another little girl to look forward to! I'll text you pictures, k?

    1. I don't have much to paint but maybe I will try that today!

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYAYA this is going to be the luckiest dog in the world! I'm glad you guys are ready to open your hearts again. I can't wait to see pictures. :)

  2. OMG that car mask scared me when I scrolled down and saw it lol. That's awesome that it was a hit with your kids!

It's so hard to not buy Christmas stuff, especially when it's on display. I confess that I purchased some holiday throw pillows from Marshalls over the weekend because they were just too cute to pass up!

    1. Oh I love holiday pillows! I am set, got some from Wal Mart a couple years ago but I am tempted...

  3. I think this is a great time to stop biting your nails because you can wear gloves and mittens and not look out of place...haha (that is if the weather gets chillier).

    1. Oh yes, and if it's warm, I'll just say it's my Madonna look! I took Susan's advice and painted my nails this morning.

  4. That photo of your cat on the puzzle is priceless!

No dressing up for Halloween. No giving out candy. Bah humbug. :)

  5. Michaels had Christmas stuff up last weekend, and the section smelled of candles. Peppermint and basalm, it definitely smelled like Christmas.

    1. Balsam is my favorite Christmas smell. To me, that is THE scent of Christmas.

  7. I'd be afraid of the cat eating the puzzle pieces LOL Have you ever tried painting your nails? That may help in deterring the biting (??)

    1. That's what Susan suggested and yes I just did that on Friday morning after reading her comment! They look ridiculous because they are so short, but I haven't bit them yet.

I have worried about Chrissy eating the puzzle too but he never tried to do that. He will eat the cardboard remnants off his scratch pad...

  8. You still bite your nails? I used to be a nail biter. Then I became a knuckle cracker. Now I'm a jewelry fidgeter. I'll tell you what I tell all my patients--wear a hair elastic or stretchy bracelet on your wrist. Every time you feel tempted to bite your nails, snap the band.

You can also remind yourself that you are a teacher and work in a petri dish, I mean school and putting your hands in your mouth=germs....:p

    1. Yes, I still bite. It is absolutely ridiculous, right? I think the germ thing is way more of a motivator than the snappy thing!

  9. I used to bite my nails! and I still do once in a blue moon (like if I have a hangnail and it's bugging me and I have no nail clipper or file available). What really helped me was to get a manicure (even with short short nails) and have them painted. I didn't want to bite my pretty nails and so eventually I just stopped. There have been times that my nails have been really long as well and I learned how to do my own nails (and now have a stupidly huge collection of nail polish...).

no halloween for us - we don't really celebrate it here (in the Netherlands). we were invited to a party but decided not to go. Husband is dutch so doesn't "get" halloween but occasionally goes along with it if I ask nicely - haha!

Something random about my week... hmmm. actually it wasn't the best week ever, everything was totally off. I guess something random could be that my Polish colleague had been back in Warsaw for the weekend and brought back some pierogis for me! I guess I mentioned a few times how much I love them? haha!

    1. Once my nails are a LITTLE longer, I am going to get a manicure. I am confident I would feel like you- wouldn't want to bite and ruin pretty nails and the $$$ I spent. Wow I bet those pierogis were good!

  10. I used to bite my nails something fierce. Wearing nail polish nipped that habit immediately. That is a great mask!
