Randomy Randomness! (Escape Room, Lip Waxing, and Bug Bites!)

Hola, readers! Today I just have some random stuff for ya! I hope you like my random posts as much as I like writing them! (They're one of my favorite kinds of blog posts to write!)

~ ~ Mourning Doves ~ ~ The mourning doves (named Paige and Thomas) who nested in the hanging baskets on our back porch finally hatched their babies! We try to stay away from the dove family so they are not disturbed and mostly watch through the windows. It's so interesting to watch them eat, which is basically all they do right now besides sit there. Oh, we named the babies Taeshawn and Deraerae.

Thomas and little Taeshawn.

~ ~ 24 bug bites! ~ ~ On Wednesday, I did some yard work. I was all sweaty from my run, so the mosquitoes ANNIHILATED me. I got 24 bug bites total. Eleven of them were on just one of my legs! They swelled up very big (as usual) and itched very badly. After a shower, the itching died down, thank goodness.

~ ~ Lip Waxing Accident ~ ~ Also on Wednesday, I went to Holiday Hair to get my eyebrows and lip waxed. Everything seemed normal until I got home and the initial redness/soreness died down. I noticed two raw areas on my upper lip. I had been burned by the wax. It doesn't hurt, but I'm worried it will scar. I bought cream for it. I also went back to the salon to tell them what happen. I got my money back.

~ ~ Escape Room ~ ~ This past week, I went to my very first ESCAPE ROOM! I went with a group of friends from work. It was so much fun. I can't tell you how much fun it was to try to open all the locks and solve the crime! There was nine of us and we escaped with ten minutes to spare. I really want to do an escape room again! And at only $22, it's a very fair price!

Betsy organized the outing. Thank you, Betsy!

We practiced unlocking locks before we went in.

In our room we had to unlock at least ten locks and solve:
Who died?
Who killed them?
Where did the crime occur?
What was the weapon?

~ ~ Sleep- what to do? ~ ~ I am torn about how to approach going to bed tonight. Normally, I will have a TERRIBLE night of sleep the night before my first day of work. Should I take a sleeping pill? A sleeping pill will make me groggy in the morning but at least I won't be laying awake for hours at night. And we all know laying awake is the worst part. It's even more horrible than the tiredness you feel the next day.

~ ~ Omg I have an eggplant! ~ ~ I know I keep complaining about how bad my garden sucks this year. But this week, I had a victory. ONE EGGPLANT!

~ ~ The Most Difficult Puzzle in the World ~ ~ My neighbor dropped off a couple puzzles for me. Check out this one, and be sure to read the description on the right hand side!

Can you IMAGINE!? I appreciate that my neighbor thinks I have the patience and smarts to complete this puzzle, but I just do not. Anyone want it before I take it to Community Aid?
Tell me something random!
Any waxing horror stories?
Sleep advice!?
Have you ever done an Escape Room?

  1. I worry about the sleeping thing too. My kids seem to sense when something really important is going on the next day. I think I would take the sleeping pill...can you take half? Does that do anything?

    1. I could take half but I don't know if that would work. Maybe I could take 3/4? Or just say eff it, take one now, and then get up at like 4 tomorrow feeling refreshed! :)

  2. We have an escape room here that we've done several times. They are very fun! How cool that you got a room that was a theater theme!

Good luck with your first day of school tomorrow. Is it a teacher day or do students come?

    1. I know I was glad my friend who organized the event picked the theater theme. :) Just teachers tomorrow, kids come Thursday. When do you start?

  3. I was just thinking that oh crap, I won’t sleep tonight! Take the sleeping pill. You know we all will be tired tomorrow. At least we don’t have to teach!

  4. I got an eyebrow wax a few years ago and develped a weird rash around my eyes. I just never went back to that place. Haven't had them burn me yet, though.

For sleeping, I take melatonin maybe 30 minutes before I go to bed and it helps big time. I don't wake up groggy or over sleep.

Clay gets eaten alive by bugs but they don't touch me!

    1. Did you tell them you developed a rash? It never even crossed my mind that I could be burnt, now I'm worried about it for future visits. I used to take melatonin and sleeping pills but then they stopped working. I think I built up a tolerance. My tolerance is gone though because it has been a couple years. I'm stopping by the Dollar Tree before the gym today, maybe they will have it there. Hmmmm would you trust Dollar Tree melatonin?? :)

  5. OMG that puzzle sounds like a nightmare! Did your neighbor manage to complete it? If so I wonder how long it took!

I'm so glad you had fun at your Escape Room. I went a couple years ago with coworkers and we had a blast too. I'd like to do another one with friends sometime, I think Adam would really like it!

I can't believe your summer break is over already but you did pack in a lot of stuff! You made great use of your summer. What was your FAVORITE thing you did?

    1. No she didn't do it. It was still shrink wrapped. I think Community aid is going to get it because no one wants to do it!

My favorite "big" thing of the summer is prob Vermont. But my favorite ordinary thing is just not having to set my alarm and having "free" days to do whatever the hell I want!

But, I have been getting verrrrrry sloth like. It's time to go back.

  7. I was surprised by how much I loved doing an Escape Room when we went for my birthday last year. It left me feeling so accomplished and clever, and it was fun to bond with my sister and her BF in such a different atmosphere than usual!

    1. Yeah! You make good points about it being such a difference atmosphere. I didn't feel too clever because the people I was with were way more clever than I was!

  8. What is disturbing your sleep? and how do you function without sleep?

Escape rooms sound terrifying to me, I don't think I could handle one.

    1. I was worried about feeling anxious and "trapped" in the escape room but the lady was so chill! The door we entered was unlocked the whole time. We could have our jackets, purses, and phones in the room (but were not supposed to use our phones) and we could leave the room at anytime for any reason and come back, whether it was to go to the bathroom or whatnot. That eased my anxiety.

Anything can disturb my sleep. Usually my brain just can't turn off and I think about all I have to do. I woke up at 1:20 this morning. Tried to sleep, finally got up.
