Currently

Hey all, how's it going? I hope you all had a fun and safe July 4th! I've got a Currently post coming at you today! Have a great day!

Current Running Situation: I think I'm recovered from our hikes and my race in Vermont. Some days my right hip feels tight, some days it feels perfect. I can deal with that! I *might* run a 15k trail race tomorrow for fun. We'll see!

Current Sleeping Situation: So far this summer, I have only had one night of zero sleep. (As in, I didn't fall asleep.) A week or two later, I had two nights in a row of about 3 hours sleep each. Other than that, I have been flying fast and loose... reading a book or reddit before bed and falling into a nice slumber easily. The cats still wake me up twice in the middle of the night but I fall back asleep.

Current Book:  Nothing, even though I have several checked out of the library. I suppose I should take them back.

Current bane of my existence: Finding a balance between watching the news/staying informed and GOING INSANE.

Current Podcast(s): Pod Save America is helping to keep me sane. Did you know Jon Favreau is a classically trained pianist?

Current Triumph: I'm still riding high from the deep cleaning and organization we did of the entire house in June. It feels so good to get shit done.

Current TV Show: BIG BROTHER HAS BEGUN!!!! Talk to yas all in September. Just kidding.

Current Food: I'm still riding the Greek yogurt train! I buy the little cups of Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom from Aldi. They're about half the price as the normal grocery store.

Current Drink: Skinny Margaritas. 2 shots lime seltzer, 2 shots margarita mix, 1 shot tequila! It honestly tastes fine substituting some of the margarita mix with lime seltzer. I like mine on the rocks with salt.

Current Puzzle: This Wysocki:

But the GAME CHANGER is that Paul is letting me use his desk lamp and it's enabling me to see the colors on the pieces a lot better.

Current Excitement: An overnight in NYC next week! Paul is going to see Radiohead at MSG and I'm going to see the Broadway musical Beautiful.

Current Big Purchase: Our purchases this summer have mainly been experience related. Of course we spent four days in Vermont and have an overnight in NYC coming up. In June, we took Ellie, Clementine, and Clark to a carnival and Lake Tobias. Yesterday, we took Eden, Violet, and Zay to Hershey Park! And a couple days ago, Violet cashed in on her Christmas present. We went to Color Me Mine and painted some pottery! It was super fun!

Violet is saving her money for a pet rabbit, so she painted this bunny bank!

I made a pineapple plate. I'm excited to see what our pieces look like after they are in the kiln. We get to pick them up in 7-10 days.

*Eden, Violet, and Zay are Paul's brother's kids. They live out of state, which is why you don't see them on the blog as much!*
Tell me something "current" about you!

  1. Megan - If you read just one of those books, read A Small Indiscretion - it's really well-written and quite good. Don't give up on it : ) Kristen

    1. I didn't even start it yet. That's how addicted to reddit I am. :) But I got it from the library because you told me it was good and I feel like I need to give it a chance! reddit will always be there.

    1. It was fun bonding time. I can't wait to see what it looks like after it is fired up in the kiln.

  3. I have to say - being away from the TV and news for our long camping trip was really nice. We came home and were like, “oh, we missed that happening?” But no, we really didn’t miss a thing and were happy as clams not hearing about any issues!
