Friday 5: My new favorite breakfast!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I wanted to share my new favorite breakfast!

Lately, I have been craving non breakfast foods for breakfast. Sometimes I'll have chicken and sweet potatoes, a PB&J, pasta salad, or even a turkey sandwich.

This week, I discovered something I really, really enjoy in the morning: Green peas, black beans, ground turkey, and shredded cheddar cheese.

It's divine!

The frozen peas are only 87 cents and I don't even use a whole bag.

The black beans last several days too because I don't use a ton at a time.

Normally I call dishes like this a "Power Bowl", but do you guys have a better idea for a name? The Fart Maker?

What's your favorite non breakfast food to eat for breakfast?

Any ideas on what I should call this dish!?

  1. Wow, that's very nutritious too - protein, fiber, it's got it all.

  2. I can't think of any non-breakfast food I eat for breakfast! I think the only "odd" thing I eat is cottage cheese on top of my scrambled eggs every now and then. Alan thinks that is super gross, but hey, it is "cheese"!

    1. Well I see your point that it is just cheese but I also see Alan's point that it is GROSS hahahaha!

  3. I use to get on Scott's case about eating non breakfast foods for breakfast and said it wasn't healthy but I guess that was just me nagging cuz really, what's it matter??? I've PB&J before for breakfast put that doesn't seem too unusual since its kind of like having toast! On weekends I'll sometimes have pizza from the night before. Right now I've been making overnight oats and I'm loving them!

    1. What does Scott like for breakfast? You're right, PBJ is practically breakfast food. Do overnight oats taste different form regular oatmeal?

  4. I also like a savory breakfast sometimes. I often do a breakfast pizza or power bowl w rice and eggs and cheese.

  5. i'm on opposite schedules as you because this is basically my dinner bowl every night except I use onions and sometimes mushrooms or broccoli instead of peas!

I looove breakfast foods so I always have a traditional breakfast, either oatmeal or eggs! I'm making some eggs right now! :)

    1. Ooh onions and mushrooms sound delicious. Do you make them in a pan? I don't give myself enough time to make eggs during the school year (obviously I could just wake up earlier but I don't do that) but during the summer I eat eggs a lot more because I really like them and they are so good for you.

    2. Yeah I make them in a pan!

I am such an egg lover even when I had to get up to go to work super early I would still get up an hour before to make my eggs and give myself time to read blogs and enjoy my breakfast!

    1. This ground turkey was not seasoned when made but I did add salt and garlic to it while I was making my bowl.

  7. That looks yummy! And calling it "The Fart Maker" made me lol! I used to make macaroni and cheese for breakfast, the good old Kraft one. And every time I would make a bologna sandwich for lunch, I always ended up making one to eat for breakfast too lol Nowadays, I mostly just stick to Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. My boyfriend on the other hand will eat ANYTHING for breakfast and typically takes the leftovers from the night before, like this morning he took the mushroom risotto I made last night!

  8. The other day I was craving a salad for breakfast, like a healthy salad too, with the greens and spinach mix. I could imagine it with an egg on top, and some ham and avocado... it sounded better in my head.

  10. Wow, that's an interesting combo for breakfast! I usually eat my breakfast at work (at my desk), so it's very simple (oatmeal). On the weekends, though, I like a bigger "real" breakfast if I have the time to prepare it....lots of cheesy eggs or pancakes/French toast.

  11. I'm the type of person who can eat breakfast any time during the day. I've always loved it, and my mom knew I was sick if I wasn't eating breakfast.

  13. I just don't know if I could eat that. I'm a smoothie girl and I can do savory smoothies but ground meat, peas, and beans? Idk....

  15. What did you have for breakfast this morning? The Fart Maker! LOL Ummm. I don't think you'll convince anyone to eat this anytime of the day with that name. Though I don't have any other suggestions. I'm bad at coming up with names for things. ;-)

  17. Hmm interesting! I usually go for the more traditional breakfasts though I could definitely see myself eating that during brunch!

  18. I can literally eat anything at any time of day. I have to eat two breakfasts so one is always oatmeal/blueberries topped with flaxseed meal and yogurt. The other is usually savory. Sometimes eggs, but today I ate turkey hotdogs with TONS of mustard :) (kind of similar to the amount of ketchup you use)

    1. LOL @ your ketchup comment. I always knew what you ate for bfast #1, but thought I knew you had to bfasts, wasn't sure what bfast #2 was!
