A Moral Dilemma. (Or an overreaction.)

Guys, I can't decide whether I should watch Celebrity Big Brother or not.

Back story: PAUL AND I LOVE BIG BROTHER. It's one of our favorite shows. When we found out BBUS was going to do a celebrity season this winter, we couldn't wait! Obviously we knew CBS wouldn't be able to find real celebrities... They would find C-List... maybe even D-List celebrities. But it was still exciting! Even bad Big Brother is GOOD Big Brother!

Celebrity BB doesn't premiere until February 7th but the cast list was released Sunday night. Unfortunately, when I saw the first name... the arguably "big" name, I was completed disappointed.

They cast Omarosa.

Now, I have never watched The Apprentice or any other show Omarosa was on. I saw her interviewed on The View and on some other shows. I don't like her. But that's okay. Watching reality television is the most fun when there are people you like and people you dislike.

But the fact the Omarosa worked for the White House... she actively helped to elect Trump and his racist, lying ass... and I repeat, WORKED IN THE WHITE HOUSE... I just don't think I can give CBS my viewership and essentially my money knowing they are giving her a platform. I want them to know this is NOT okay and I don't think it is "entertaining" to see her on my screen.

This freaking KILLS me. I really wanted to watch Celebrity BB. So I'm trying to find all these ways to make it "okay" to watch it. Omarosa doesn't work for the administration anymore... in fact she was fired and escorted out of the White House. She says she has so many things to spill and that she saw a lot of terrible things while she worked for the administration... So it sounds like she doesn't support Trump anymore. So I can watch, right? I don't know.

What do you think? Am I overreacting? I really don't want CBS to think it is okay to give her a platform and I DON'T think it's "fun" or "funny" or "entertaining"  to see someone who worked for the reality TV president on a reality tv show.

Thoughts?

Do you refuse to watch/listen to anything or shop at a certain store due to moral reasons?

I don't eat at Chick-fil-a because they donoate money to anti LGBTQ groups. I know it is within their rights to do that, but I don't want MY money going to those groups. So I won't eat there, but I will go to the bathroom there. :)

  1. If you think watching the show will raise your blood pressure because you'll be so angry seeing her on the screen because of her previous work with Trump then I would skip it. It's not worth it. However, if you think you'll be able to find entertainment in it I think you should go on and watch it. There are a million reasons Trump was elected president and that his administration is problematic and I think Omarosa played a very small part in all of that.

Then again I am all over the map when it comes to my own moral convictions. I'll only buy cruelty free products but I still eat some meat. I drink from reusable water bottles but often still use a plastic straw...

    1. I will definitely be entertained. I just feel bad about being entertained by someone who worked for such a dangerous administration.

I just saw an article about plastic straws and now I have HUGE guilt. I think we will have to start buying reusable straws.

  2. Oh man... that’s a tough one. I’m big on the boycott, so I would probably not watch it. I try not to do anything that might give Trump or Ivanka any money. I don’t eat chocolate because the industry uses slave labor in Africa to keep the prices cheap. I often buy fair trade chocolate bars to help out that industry in hopes that Hershey, nestle, et al would make the switch to non-slave chocolate. I boycott a bunch of other things too (meat and dairy). It’s fun! Haha!

    1. I did not know Hershey used slaves. :( I'm going to research that and maybe make the fair trade switch too. I love that you think boycotting things is fun!

  3. I don't think you are overreacting. If it was any other president, I would say it's not a big deal. But This president and his administration have made it their mission to spread their hate and ignorance as far as they can. I read somewhere that the more attention we give 45, we more we are feeding his ego. I know Omarosa is not him, but from what I have read, she is pretty awful.

Do whatever will make you happy, it's your life and the way you chose to entertain yourself is up to you.

I have a list of places, companies, celebrities and stores I will not visit/support, for many different reasons. My sister thinks I'm ridiculous, because my list includes her mechanic and a few places she frequents. But I also know that I am a hypocrite, because I still go to Chick Fil A.

    1. We are all hypocrites, we can't be perfect about where we shop and how we entertain ourselves, etc. I think we have to make choices where we can.

  4. Eh, it is Big Brother and primetime TV. They want to make a good show, so they're into casting controversial people. Plus, I think they want to regain some viewers after last season. I don't think it's about moral conviction for CBS... besides, it IS Big Brother and kind of a dirty show anyway ;). But if you don't want to watch this season, I completely understand why and why someone wouldn't want to watch with her on there!

    1. I definitely see your point- it's freaking Big Brother, it's not like it's a show with integrity. I will consider your point when making my final decision!

  5. I'd say give the first episode a chance, and if you don't like her on there, you'll know for sure.

    1. It's not about liking her/not liking her, it's that she worked for the White House. I'm okay with not liking people- it actually makes it more fun to watch.

  6. Well it's not just that I don't like her, I am okay with watching reality shows when there are people I don't care for, it's that she worked for the White House and I don't like that CBS is giving her a platform. Does that make sense?

  7. I hate to see you get all worked up about this, but I know you feel passionately about it. Wondering, what was up with Survivor? You didn't like Ben winning? We finally got around to watching the finale last week!

    1. I HATED the "twist" at the Final 4 where they got to make fire. I do not think it was fair that they didn't tell all the contestants about the change in the game rules at the beginning. It's not Ben's fault... I blame production.

  8. I understand the dilemma. The question is: how much do you want to watch it?

I boycott Walmart (I think I've been in one ONCE) and I've never been to a Chick-fil-a.
I also try NOT to shop at Hobby Lobby, although I make an exception every once in a while, because they just have the best deal on blank notecards.

You gotta do what you gotta do.

  9. Sometimes watching things you hate can be entertaining and with certain people, like her, it could be a total train wreck which in itself would be entertaining. You have enjoyed the show before so give it a try. What I won't watch is that buffoon we are supposed to call our prez...

  10. I love your conviction! My mom was the exact same way and would boycott companies that didn't align with her values or that just pissed her off! I wish I was that strong.

    1. Your mom sounds like she was such a strong woman. So there isn't anything you boycott or avoid?
