Friday 5! (Random)

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I'm just going to share 5 random things about this week.

1. A stranger bought me coffee! I don't normally stop for coffee in the morning, but on Wednesday, I was really feeling it. The guy in line beside offered to pay for my coffee. The bitchy part of me wanted to tell him to buzz off but the nice part of me just accepted the kind gesture. "Thank you, I will pay it forward," I told him.

2. I saw a lot of deer on my morning runs. Since it's light out in the morning (not for long!) I run over to a park that I can only get to by a paved trail along a corn field. On Wednesday morning, I saw three deer in the park. They stared at me while I ran past, then they bounded through a small neighborhood and into the woods. On Thursday morning, I saw the same deer (probably) making their way through the neighborhood and into the woods. It was so beautiful. I love deer.

3. Paul is watching 13 Reasons Why with me and he loves it. I'm enjoying the rewatch and I'm picking up on a lot of things I missed the first time around. I do not pick up on the most obvious clues.

4. I haven't felt great this week. On Monday and Tuesday I was so tired and felt like I was getting a cold. Luckily, it never came on full force. Then on Thursday I felt really nauseous. I wasn't even hungry.

5. Can you help me find some headphones that don't freeze? Last week, the cord to my headphones froze during my run. The wire ended up snapping in half. I was annoyed. I bought a new pair and thought that if I didn't wrap the cord and just let it dangle, the wire wouldn't fold and snap in half. Well, the wire must be really touchy because after just one mile with my new headphones, the wire snapped and they didn't work anymore. How do yas all run in the cold without your headphone cord freezing???? I don't know why these headphones are suddenly doing this. I feel like this normally happens to me once per winter, not twice in less than two weeks!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Ive also seen alot of deer lately! They are all over my neighborhood. When Im running they will just be standing in someones driving and they just stare at me and don't even seemed phased. I think the only thing that sometimes makes them run off is my headlamp.

    1. I feel bad for them because I know they are getting shooed out of the woods by hunters. :(

  2. Awww i wish i saw deer when running!

Maybe it's time to invest in cordless earbuds! I don't have the freezing and snapping issue, but Cecil has chewed through SO MANY pairs of earbud cords that I feel relieved to have cordless earbuds now!

    1. You would love it. You would start talking to them in a baby voice like I do.

I will have to look into the cordless kind. I don't like the buds though, I like the kind that wrap around my ears. Off to amazon...

  3. Wow, I have never heard of the cord freezing. I don't run in the mornings so my runs are not as cold as yours but during times where I am wearing a jacket but I feel like I might take it off during the run I will take my headphone cord through my arm sleeve and up through my collar. Perhaps having under your clothes will keep it out of the elements of the cold?

I love seeing deer (when they are not about to attack me). There is just something so peaceful about it! My favorite memory last winter was seeing six of them standing in the park while it snowed!

    1. Oh now that is a good idea about putting it under my clothes. Thank you! Has a deer tried to attack you?

    2. O yes! Back in 2013. Of course I blogged about it!

  4. So nice that someone bought your coffee. Why would you tell him to buzz off?!? Oh, I hope you start to feel better! How is your sleeping? Better I hope!

    1. Because I'm a grown ass woman who can buy my own coffee!!! <--- Bitch Megan talking there. ;)

Sleeping is definitely better. I took a sick day today because things got really bad Thursday night. Right now I am drinking tea and I am out of bed for the first time since 6pm last night! I dont' know what I did to deserve this bug.

  6. I loop my headphones under my shirts, and behind my head. It keeps the wire off my arms, and I guess it keeps the cord at body temperature, I have never had problems with them freezing off.

Coffee is the best!! I have had two people buy me coffee, it was glorious!

    How are you feeling now?

    1. It's Sunday, I am feeling better but I wish I could go out and run. Too windy today.

It seems like I have been missing the under the shirt trick everyone has been using for years!

  7. Every once in a while I see deer on my runs, but not normally.

I don't run with music, although I don't remember that ever being a problem when I did. Everyone seems to love the Aftershokz.

We had a stranger buy our breakfasts after a run once! There were 3 or 4 of us (but he did it anonymously).

  9. We have so many deer around our house as well. I have mixed feelings about 13 reasons why. It will be interesting to see where they go with the second one

  10. I've never heard of headphone cords freezing. I'm currently using Yurbuds, and if I'm out in the cold, I wear layers, including a vest. Since I don't want the cord to be swinging around while I'm running, I hook it onto my shirt, and then zip the cord up under the vest.

    1. It seems like I am the only person who hasn't been putting the cord under their clothes! I'm definitely not the brightest.

  11. Ok you need to go wireless! When I used a cord, I'd run it up under my shirt or jacket so it wasn't really outside. It never froze that way.

    1. Thanks Marcia! It seems like I'm the only person who never thought of this.

  12. I always feed the cord of my ear buds under my shirt (actually under my bra), so the only exposed part is the small section (4-5 inches?) that comes out near my neck.Never a problem with freezing, and I don't have a flopping cord to annoy me.

    1. The part that freezes for me is where it plugs into my phone, so if I put it under my shirt AND put my phone in my pocket that could work. I generally hold my phone though because it is soooo touchy and if it is bumped it skips ahead to the next podcast!

      First world problems.

  14. I am nervous about dropping that kind of cash on headphones. Are they durable?
