Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday!
After a very stressful week, I was happy to enjoy a low key, ZERO STRESS weekend!
I hope your weekend was whatever you needed it to be!

I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn because I had a PT appointment at 7am! Normally I get up at 5:30, but this day I had to get up at 4:30! I am a firm believer that any alarm set in the 5 o'clock hour is okay, but once you get into the 4 o'clock hour, that's just next level insanity! At least I won't have to do this on a regular basis.

Unfortunately I was a little late getting to work due to taking a different route that morning. There was road work on 81 so that just threw a huge wrench into things. Then the whole rest of the day, I felt like I was behind and trying to catch up.

It didn't help I decided to clean out the cabinets in my classroom. I found old technology in there that will never be used again. Old record players, projectors, programs from concerts that happened over 30 years ago...

Since it had been such a crazy week at school with the musical, open house, and three days of PSSA testing, I decided to let the 3rd and 4th graders watch the DVD of their show. They loved seeing themselves onstage and actually sang right along with the recording. Aren't they sick of those songs yet!? I suppose not. Me? I was excited to delete them off my phone forever!

I had a weird lunch. Chicken, Greek yogurt, and a whole carton of blackberries. They were 99 cents at Aldi! I think blackberries are my favorite berry. Oh, and a lime seltzer water.

I couldn't wait to get home and see the kitties. They had been having a rough couple days because Paul had been gone since Wednesday, and since Wednesday and Thursday were my busiest days, they didn't get much attention or human interaction at all. When I got home, I fed them, gave them lots of loving, and did a round of treats. They love to run for treats!

It was so beautiful outside and I wanted to relax on the back porch, but I felt guilty not spending time with the cats. So I went out in the grass in my bare feet for a couple minutes (I love that feeling!) and then I went back inside.

I poured myself a can of key lime sparkling water with a shot of spiced rum. It's like a mojito without the mint! Then I blogged and watched The View.

I felt very guilty about not cleaning my house because it really needs cleaned. We haven't cleaned it in a month. I know, it's disgusting. But I was just too tired.

Speaking of disgusting, this cake looks messed up but it was SO GOOD!
A friend at work sent a piece home with me. I ate half and saved the rest for Paul.

About and hour before he was supposed to eat, Chrissy put on his one man show entitled,
"I'm so hungggggggggggy!"

I went to bed around 8pm and slept until 8:30am the next morning. The kitties woke me up a couple times during the night, but I was able to fall back asleep.

I was feeling refreshed on Saturday morning!

It was dreary and rainy, so I didn't really feel like running. I had to go to the gym to do my PT exercises, so I figured I'd lift while I was there. Other than that, I had zero plans for the day!

I ended up being at the gym for two hours! I wasn't bored because I had good podcasts to listen to.

Of course when I don't have plans, I try to think of something to do. I didn't want to be away from the kitties for too long, so I decided that after the gym, I'd go to Community Aid to look for a puzzle, do some shopping for fruits and veggies for the week, and maybe pop by Kohl's and just to putz around... my shopping scores were chronicled on yesterday's Vlog!

Finally, I bought the perfect romper!

And I almost bought these pants... but they were a little more than I like to spend on something that is trendy and I'm not sure what top I would have to go with them...

Paul had been in Denver for the past couple days and was due to arrive in Philly and then take Amtrak to Harrisburg. Unfortunately his Denver flight was delayed, so he missed his connecting flight. I ended up having to drive to Baltimore to pick him up at the airport around 11pm. Ugh! Luckily the drive didn't suck as much as I thought it would. I had two really good podcasts for the way down, and Paul and I talked the whole way home. He's not a big caller or texter while he's gone.

Jelly missed his daddy so much. He finally just crawled in his White Castle box to wait.
It was a joyous reunion when we got home at 1am!

Even though I went to bed super duper late, I got up around 9:30 on Sunday morning. I didn't want to sleep the day away. I had PUZZLES to do!

Paul and I finally watched Survivor from Wednesday (I'm pissed at the result!!) and we watched Samantha Bee's Not the White House Correspondent's Dinner.

Then I did my PT exercises. My knee hurts from the exercises so running didn't sound like fun. Ugh.

Yeah, I workout in my jammies. Don't hate!

Then started another puzzle! It's the one I bought yesterday with two missing pieces. It's hard. I have done all the "easy" parts. Now I just have, oh, 300 pieces of white snow and green trees to do!

Paul made mushrooms and turkey burgers on the grill. We ate dinner and started plowing through the 27 episodes of Seinfeld we have accumulated on our DVR!

Speaking of Seinfeld, I'm starting to get Seinfeld hair...

Do you like walking in grass in bare feet?

Do you ever feel guilty for not cleaning more?

What hour is just next level crazy for you to wake up?

What's your favorite thing to do when you have a whole Saturday to yourself?

  1. Well, I always wake up between 3:30 and 4:00 am but without an alarm so since I don't use an alarm I am not crazy--just weird, right? OMG, your comment about needing to get caught up after Paul's trip. When Rick goes away he "tries" to call but he's terrible about talking on the phone so I just keep it really short (else I end up getting frustrated). We have to do the same thing, get really caught up in person when he gets back! So funny. If I have a Saturday to myself I do what my sister and I call "stupid shopping". I go to stores that I never go to just to "look". The stores I qualify as "stupid shopping" = Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx, Ross and the like. I normally end up with bags full of things I never even realized I needed. LOL.

    1. Paul and Rick are so alike! At first it really annoyed me but then I just got used to it. Why make Paul try to be someone he's not? I don't like talking on the phone much, but I wouldn't mind more texts. Stupid shopping is SO FUN! Yes, when I am at the Dollar Tree I suddenly decide, Oh, I totally need more _____ (fill in the blank). Ever since I got rid of a ton of stuff while spring cleaning last year, I have tried no too buy too much "stuff". But I feel like I did more clothes shopping this year than normal. Oh well, I think I needed the new clothes!

    2. I know...they are so much alike. Yesterday we had some things to do and I needed to stop by Dollar Tree for baking tins (I always get asked to bring dessert and this makes it way easier than trying to make sure my good pyrex makes it home in one piece). I was walking up and down the aisles really slowly "looking" and Rick said "had I known it was going to turn into this I may have stayed in the car.". LOL. I kept it to a minimum -- would have been in there WAY longer without him right on my tail.

  2. OK so I wake up in the 4 o'clock hour every day, but yesterday and today I woke up before 4! I didnt let myself get out of bed until after 4 though. i don't know what my problem is. Usually I wake up naturally right around 4:30 or a little before 5.

    1. What time do you have to leave for work? What time do you go to bed? Do you like being an early bird?

    2. Haha I like being an early bird but I wish I could sleep in a little more! I leave for work around 7-7:15 and go to bed around 8:30-9.

  3. Haha, you accomplish so much in the morning before you go to work that I actually thought that you always got up that early! I agree, anything before 5 seems like it's still night time.

By the looks of that dressing room, you sure tried on a lot of clothes! When I have a whole day to myself I like to shop too cus I know I can take my time. Although I get bummed out if my shopping is not successful cus then I feel like I just wasted time. I also like to stay home and clean. That I know is always a success!

    1. Yes, I demolished the dressing room. The weird thing is, I NEVER BUY CLOTHES AT TARGET!!!

  4. That really sucks that you woke up at 4:30 am and still felt like you were playing catch-up all day long. Blackberries are my favourite berry too! If I had a Saturday to myself, I'd sleep in, run long, shower long, actually do my hair and shave my legs and stuff, and then sit on a patio somewhere with my laptop and write, and read a book in the sun and drink beer and eat nachos.

    1. Stupid traffic! That's what made me late. :( That actually sounds like a REALLY nice Saturday that you described! Nachos... yummm.

  5. I don't like grass at all! Also I rarely walk barefooted because of my last foot injury. I had to run through grass on Saturday and it was so hard and torched my quads. I'm glad you got so much cleaning done and cleaned out the ancient stuff in the classroom- I cleaned out my pantry this weekend and threw away so much expired food and things like old protein shakers. I couldn't believe the dates on some items.

    1. I walk around barefoot/in socks at home all the time. I have heard so many different things- it's good for you, it's bad for you... I guess it depends on what one is dealing with. Do you wear sneakers around your house? Unfortunately I only got to two cabinets in my room- so much more cleaning out to do!

  6. I'll apologize for the Denver weather. We got snow Friday night and all day Saturday. At least snow days are perfect snuggle with the cat days. I didn't want to go anywhere with that weather, and Allie took advantage.

    1. Yeah unfortunately he wasn't able to do much in Denver but he DID get to visit with his cousin so that was nice!

  7. Welcome back Paul!

are you a morning person? well, that sounds like a dumb question... you clearly are! I am always in awe of those who can get up and get things done before I'm even awake!

I like walking barefoot on the grass too!! it feels so refreshing!

I have to say that my crazy early hour would be 3:00 am. At my first job, we had to be up at 3:00 am to be at work at 4:00 am. so that always stuck in my head as crazy insane time to get up.

I haven't had a Saturday all to myself in a long time... I would be lost and would not get off the couch at all. That feels like it's really bad...

    1. It's a double edged sword... On days I work, I like to exercise BEFORE work, so I guess I am a morning person... But I would prefer to not work, sleep in, and exercise whenever I feel like it. :)

Omg 3am!? What was your job?

Really, you would be lost with a Friday all to yourself? Well, you could always call me up and we could go to Tokyo Diner! ;)

  8. OMG walking around barefoot in the grass! What if you step in glass? What if you step in an ant pile? What if you step in squirrel poop? What if you step on a plant you're allergic to? I'm really stressed out for your feet!

Last year I would have said anytime before 6:30am was next level crazy but now I am up at 5am! I guess these days anything that starts with a 4 is next level crazy. Anything starting with a 3 would be totally insane and I would be angry!
