Weekend Wrap Up!

Hey readers! If you have 30 seconds to spare, take this survey to let me know what you want to hear more about and less about. The survey takes 30 seconds! I'll explain my reason for the survey in tomorrow's post. I just figured I'd advertise the survey every day this week so hopefully a lot of people take it! It's only two questions. :)

Happy Monday! I am looking forward to a hopefully awesome, healthy week. We had a really fun weekend!  Here's what we were up to...

Unfortunately I started feeling really crappy on Thursday afternoon and I woke up on Friday feeling just as crappy. But of course I went for a run. If I was going to be sick, I may as well at least collect some endorphins before the day began...

I spent nearly $5 on the way to work to get a large coffee and a Quest Bar. I had already eaten my Cheerios but I was still really hungry. There's not much I'm willing to eat from this particular gas station, so a $2.99 Quest Bar it was.

Here is my review... It was quite filling considering it was only 190 calories. It was REALLY sweet, which is saying a lot coming from me! It tasted fine, just like you would expect a cookie dough flavored protein bar to taste like. My mouth got really tired from trying to chew it! Overall, it was good, but $2.99!?

Work was really busy. I had three double classes because we are rehearsing for our show in April and four "normal" classes. Around lunch time there were some crazy snow showers!

Indoor recess. :( Teachers hate it too...

On the way home from work, I spent $6.65 on two vanilla milkshakes and two apple pies from McDonald's! I was excited to surprise Paul with the treat!

Chrissy wished I had brought him dessert too...

Look what Paul did. He folded my pjs and put a little note on them! How sweet is that?

That night, we caught up on Bates Motel. What a great series! If you have not seen it yet, it's on Netflix and the 5th and final season is airing right now!

I slept for 12 hours! It felt great. When I woke up, I didn't feel 100%, but I felt about 90%, so that's pretty good. The kitties slept with me all morning. Ready to get up, Jelly?

I went for a 9 miler that wasn't as cold or as windy as I was anticipating. I felt awesome the entire time. My paces have been getting slower and slower lately, so I was surprised to see an 8:17 pace for this one!

Then Paul and I drove up to Sunbury and ate at Penn's Tavern. It's a historic building with amazing ambiance and food. I'm going to write more about our adventure on Saturday in an upcoming post. But we had a great time at dinner and even swung by the mall afterwards for some doo-dads!

I went for an 8 miler that was thoroughly enjoyable. It was brisk, but sunny with no wind. I had an awesome True Crime Garage podcast to listen to, and I felt pretty strong. I ended up the same pace as the day before. Score!

Yup, same outfit as the day before!

Then Paul and I went to see East Pennsboro High School's musical Little Shop of Horrors. Four of my former piano students performed in the show as well as many of my former elementary music students. It is so cool to see the kids all grown up and performing confidently onstage. I always feel weird going up to them after the show because I feel like they won't remember me! Which I realize is silly, because even though I may look a little older than when they were in elementary school, I still look basically the same. They're the ones that changed! Luckily, they all seemed happy to see me.

On our way to the show, we stopped at Cornerstone Coffeehouse in Camp Hill to sign some petitions to help some Cumberland County Democratic Candidates get on the ballot! It felt good to do something.

I had a lot of blogging to do when I got home. I have some good posts coming up for you in the next two weeks!

Omg... I DIDN'T POST ANY CAT PICS YET!!!

SO MANY QUESTIONS FOR YOU TODAY!!!

Do you like Quest bars?
Do you watch Bates Motel?
Does your partner ever leave you sweet little notes?
Locals, have you been to Penn's Tavern?

  1. Oh, Megan, are you sick again? Is it another cold? Sounds like you had a most fabulous weekend! I had to laugh at the indoor recess due to the "snow"--I am thinking it takes a ton more to keep CO inside than that but I guess it's all what you are used to, right? I do like Quest Bars but you are right, kind of pricey. Have not seen Bates Motel. Just finished Nurse Jackie and am ready to start my next series on Netflix. Rick and I leave notes for each other all the time then they get put up inside the cabinet and behind my office door. Our old cleaning lady commented to me how adorable she thought that was :) I am not sure what the new gal thinks but I don't care. I actually remember each note and when it was written (yes, I have a crazy memory and can remember random things without really trying)

    1. It went away by mid morning Saturday! I am starting to think it is the school building making me sick...

Oh, the children in Central PA are CODDLED when it comes to indoor/outdoor recess!!! Now, I will say it was SUPER windy and cold. You couldn't tell by the picture, but it looked brutal out there! What annoys me is that when the real feel is less than... I think 21 degrees here, it's automatic indoor recess. I am so against that. Kids need to get outside and run around. Even if they shorten recess a bit, I'd be okay. But they need to get out there for a little bit.

That is cute you keep all the notes! I had one taped to my computer tower here at work and it was there for years. I finally threw it out last week because it was ripping really bad and barely handing on. I will have to have Paul write me another note!

  2. Ive never had a Quest bar, but $2.99? I guess bars like that are more expensive when bought individually, but still. Glad you got in some good runs this weekend!

    1. Yeah I think one reason it was so expensive was due to it being an individual bar at a gas station!

  3. I would think you teachers get all the illnesses! Schools are like petri dishes. Ewwww....

    Feel better!

    1. They are. I see so much sneezing, nose picking, scab picking, etc. I'm surprised I'm not dead.

  4. What made you go to Penn's Tavern? I've never been there but my parent use to go there every year for their anniversary. I thought it had closed for a while but maybe it opened up under new management? What did you get?
I've had quest bars before and they are okay. I like to microwave them a bit cus like most protein bars they are a bit chewy.

    1. This bar was really chewy! My mouth hurt haha. Yes apparently it did close for a little and is now under new management. Everyone there was really nice and you could tell they were proud of the establishment. I had sauerbraten and Paul had mushroom ravioli. I can see why your parents went there for their anniversary. It was very romantic!

  5. I took your poll! I like everything though so I don't know if that's helpful for not, but it's an honest answer.

Chrissy looks so sad about not getting an apple pie. I want to cuddle him and give him dental treats! :D

I'm glad you had an awesome run this weekend, I did too!!!!!!! I'm sorry that you were feeling ill again though. It seems like so many people I know have been sick multiple times this year! :(

    1. It is really frustrating! I'm starting to wonder if it's something in my building because for several weeks I have been losing my voice by the end of the week. Not completely, but it is scratchy and a little hoarse and I can't sing comfortable in certain registers, if at all. Now this may seem like normal for a music teacher- singing and talking all week and then by the end of the week losing your voice. BUT I have been teaching for 12 years and normally I lose my voice like once a year... not every week!

I'm glad you had a great run! I can't wait to go read about it. :)

  6. I used to eat a lot of Quest bars. Now I like the Blueberry Muffin and the Cookies and Cream but that's it. I have given up all the other flavors for FitJoy bars which are SOOOO much tastier. I have 3 boxes of them right now (chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter chocolate, and cinnamon roll) that I'm going through. I eat one every morning. They have way less artificial stuff than Quest.

So sorry you are still sick and dealing with that, yuck. Glad you were still able to get some running in and you and Paul had a nice date out.

  7. You two have been pretty cute lately. I'm glad you're so happy! Although dayammnn with being sick all the time! Hope this is a quick one that goes fast. I don't like Quest bars. The only bar I tolerate are the peanut butter and chocolate Vega bars. They're really good, really filling and really expensive so I don't buy them often.

    1. Thanks Suzy. :) I know I am over feeling sick! Luckily I felt a lot better Saturday morning. It stinks protein bars are so expensive!

  8. You guys are so cute!! We need to step up our notes game... "Please pick up cheese" should not be our only notes to each other!

I've never had a Quest bar, they look scary to me!

I have also never been to Penn Tavern, will have to look it up!

  9. I love Little Shop, and first saw it at the college I ended up going to. They have a drama club that puts on some good performances. I had no idea it was Alan Menken and Howard Ashman until afterwards.
