MGR's Weekend Wrap Up!

Oh my, it's Monday already!
Here's what we were up to this weekend...

Today I got bored at work! I guess it is my own fault if I am bored, right? As a music teacher, I teach the same 10 lessons five times every eight days. It gets pretty repetitive for me. But that's just the nature of being a "special" teacher. On the upside, by the time I teach a lesson three times, I am a pro.

After work, we went to Kohl's because Paul needed some new shirts and sweaters. I had so much fun picking stuff out for him, and he did a good job picking out stuff too. Paul is definitely not as adventurous with his clothes as I would like him to be (for instance, he doesn't do v-necks or red), but he always looks stylish.

This was my favorite shirt I picked out for him and he loved it too! The fabric is so soft.

Then we went to Da Vinci's for some yummy Italian food! We were celebrating Paul's MRI results- no change from his previous MRI and they are continuing to lower his meds. SO MUCH GOOD NEWS!

Lobster ravioli!

Gnocci!

What's more dreamy? Carbs or my hot husband?

Accidental selfie.

Our friend Katrina was our waitress. She is the phys ed teacher at our school. She's a wonderful friend and I'm so happy I get to work with her!

When we got home Paul was going to do a fashion show with his new clothes (that's what I do for him when I buy new stuff!) but he was tired, so we just laid it all out and admired it. Ah!

I fell asleep practicing my Spanish. The app I use, Duolingo, gives me a reminder if it gets to be like 7:00pm and I didn't practice yet that day. Isn't that awesome?

I got up super early to drive to RB Winter State Park in Mifflinburg to run a race with my dad! I did the Last Man Standing race and he did the Resolution Challenge. We had a fun time and I will recap the race this week!

I was a drama queen for the rest of the day because I had run a total of 16 miles and that was more than I had run in a long time. I was feeling it! It was hard to get warm, too. It was 14 degrees for the race!

We ordered Chinese food for dinner. I had a case of the "I ran 16 miles, I can eat what I wants". We always get General Tsos, lo mein, and 2 egg rolls. I get to eat all the fried noodles they give us.

OMG I was sooooo tired. Even though I went to bed relatively early on Saturday night, I slept until 10 today! My morning was very lazy. I watched the Sunday morning news shows, drank my coffee, cuddled my kitties...

Then I finally did some house work and got stuff together for the week. This included taking down our outdoor Christmas decorations. I suppose I could have picked a day when the feels like temperature was warmer than 5 degrees!

Even though our indoor decorations have been down for a week, Christmas is confused. He keeps hopping onto the hutch in hopes to snack on some fake greenery...

January, 2017
AKA... WTF????

We also put our first "memory" into our jar! One of my 2017 goals is to write down something positive once a week and put it in a jar. On NYE 2017, we will sit down and read about all the awesome things that happened!

I did lots of puzz-puzz...

...and had a Thanksgiving dinner!

Tell me something fun you did this weekend!
What do you order when you get Chinese?

  1. 16 miles!!! When you said you had a race you were considering I figured like a 5K or a 10K! Maaaaybe a half marathon. You're such an overachiever! :D That weather sounds freeeeeeeeezing. I can't imagine actually leaving my house to run in that, but I bet the weather feels pretty good once you get going!

Adam is not big on shopping or fashion. He mostly just wears what other people buy him as gifts for Christmas or his birthday. If he is shopping for himself he is 99% of the time at Good Will. Because our Good Will is located next to a wealthy part of the city he is able to get really nice brands for like $3. His last trip he got a brand new (with tags on) Armani shirt for $5. He hates shopping but he likes giving that at least he's giving back at Good Will. Plus the man loves a deal!

    1. Okay so the race wasn't 16 miles, I did some extra running with my dad. It was that race where you do a 1.6 mile loop in 20 min, then 19 min, then 18, and so on. My dad did the option where you just run as many loops as you can in 3 hrs. So I got done before him (I only did 8 loops of the race) and then ran 2 loops with him while he finished up. I am proud of him!

That is so cool Adam likes to go to Good Will. And freaking awesome that he can get brand new clothes there!

  2. Super news about the MRI--way to kick ass, Paul. I am so happy for both of you. Such a long, tough journey. I am completely impressed on your race, girl. Both you and your dad are amazing. Saturday I got to see a dear friend for breakfast and Rick and I were supposed to go to the CSU basketball game at noon but our furnace broke and so we had to wait for the guy to come fix it. I did sneak out to Ross and got some things for my art studio and then we ended up watching the game on TV. Sunday we went to church with some friends then Rick headed up skiing for a few days. Macy and I will have a little bit of girl time! We just had asian food on NYE, and got sushi + broccoli and beef. It was delicious! I could eat it every night.

    1. That stinks so bad about the furnace and missing the game! :( Enjoy your girl time with Macy! You know when Paul is gone I get this feeling like, "Ooh now I can do whatever I want!" and then I'm like, wait, I always do whatever I want whether Paul is here or not hahaha.

  3. Idk if I did anything "fun" but I got a lot done! And lots of sleep too. Sometimes that's the best.

  4. Yay for soft clothes! Now that it's winter that's. All I want to wear. I just thought this morning how I need to get some soft dress shirts!

Scott mentioned yesterday how he was SO glad that we. Put or outside decorations aways last week. That's the only bad thing about putting a lot of decor out, putting it all away when it's cold out!

I always get chicken and broccoli when we order Chinese. We had it on Friday night!

  5. Hooray for the good news at the MRI and celebrating with Italian food... it looks so delicious :). That race looks so cold but I'm glad you got to run it and spend time with your dad. When I get Chinese food I usually go for the shrimp lo mein or shrimp fried rice, and I love spring rolls.

    1. The best part about the race was being with my dad! He is a machine. I love fried rice! I wish you could get fried rice with gen. tso instead of white rice.

  7. I'd be feeling the "I can eat whatever I want" too. If I eat Chinese food, I usually go with a meat medley because those have shrimp, chicken, and pork or beef, plus veggies. Veggies makes it healthy, right?

    1. Hmmm, yes veggies makes it healthy. ;) I was wondering, what mileage makes people get the "Eat what I wants". I feel like for me it's anything 12+!

  8. Those are excellent news for Paul! Congrats!!

Is that a puzzle medal? It looks so cool! Congrats on your race! I cant' wait to read more about it. Chinese is the best recovery food!! Yumms!!

I order Chicken and broccoli for lunch! But only for this one place in Lemoyne, it's the only Chinese place I like in the area.

    1. It is a puzzle piece! Puzzle pieces are sort of the symbol for autism, which you probably know. What place in Lemoyne do you like. We will try it out! We usually do Chef Wongs because they deliver.

  9. Great news on the MRI!!! Woo hoo!! I am curious about your duolingo app. Have you ever taken Spanish before or other languages? I had gotten a poorman's version of Rosetta Stone at Costco but stopped using it... Was wondering if this is simpler or not... I never took a language at all!

    1. Okay, I took 3 years of French and 1 year of Spanish. You may think that sounds like I know a lot but I forget virtually EVERYTHING! I really, really like the Duolingo app. There have been times I have had questions and went to google. For instance, the whole male/female thing. I caught on to it because of my past experience with language. But no where in the questions does it say, for example, boy cats are gatos and girl cats are gatas. It just caught on to that because I was aware of it. Now the big thing that would have caused me great confusion if I wasn't aware of it was conjugating verbs. I remembered the *concept* from french and spanish class, but not exactly how to do it. But at least when it started happening in the app, I was like, oooooh this is what they are doing. And I looked up a chart on how to do it because I love charts! Try it out! It's free!!!

    2. Definitely going to look into it!!

  10. Hahaha your desk at work sounds good! Or couldn't you just keep it in your underdud drawer or something?

Lo mein is sooooo yummy. I think I like egg rolls better than spring because the fried part. :)
