Weekend Wrap Up!

I hope you all had a fun and safe holiday weekend!

We did a lot of fun stuff but also a lot of laying around type of stuff!

I have to apologize for sucking at taking pictures. I went to four picnics and I only got pictures from one of them! Oh well. You all know what picnics look like, right?

Our day started with a disc golf/running date. Paul played at a course near the apartment complex in which I used to live. For nostalgia purposes, I ran to my old apartment and did the exact route I used to run every. damn. day. Boy did it bring back memories! On my way back to the park, I was wishing I could jump in a pool after my run. That would feel so refreshing. Instead, I stretched on the basketball court while I waited for Paul to finish up.

The exciting news for the day was that I finished up a 670 piece puzzle that was really fun but really hard! The two main reasons it was hard was because the pieces were ODDLY shaped and the edges of the puzzle were not straight. They were horses!

The edges...

Examples of the weird pieces...

But what a fun puzzle!

That evening, we went to Tammy and Jeff's house for game night fun! I always forget to take pictures when we go out but this time I didn't forget. This is proof I have friends!

 Open your eyes, Paul!

Teff and Jammy

Neve and Stora

Perry and Shaul

Megan and Mary. Oh darn, it doesn't work with our names!

I ran 8 miles! That is longest than I have run since before vacation! Bam bam bammity bam bam bam! But my knee hurt. Womp womp.

Then we headed to our friend Amy's for her housewarming party. Amy is the wonderful person who watches our babies while we are on vacation. We stayed for a little while but then had to head to Paul's family picnic. Oh darn, no pictures!

After being gone all day, it was nice to just chill on the couch at home that night. Oh, good news! I EAT POPCORN NOW! I used to eat popcorn for lunch every day. Don't ask. Anyway, Tammy gave us some popcorn and it is so good! Don't worry, I won't start eating it for lunch every day again.

I ran 4 miles and then lifted upper body at the gym with Paul. Then we headed to a friend's picnic. We left a little early because the plan was to go see the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra perform a free outdoor concert, but then we decided to be homebodies and stay inside instead!

We ate sushi and watched the movie Easy A.

Oh, and I made myself an All-American drink... vodka + sugar free fruit punch!

MONDAY
HOLIDAY
BONUS!

Happy July 4th! The day started with sleeping forever. Paul was on chemo, Jelly was sleeping with us, and we all just decided to "keep going". "Keep going" is when you wake up and decide to fall back asleep and "keep going". Sometimes in the summer Paul and I will wake up around 8 or 9 and say, "Let's keep going." We're so cute and lazy, right?

When I finally got up, I went for a 6 mile run. The planned called for 9 but that seemed excessive at this point. As I was nearing mile 6, contemplated doing 7 because I felt pretty good, but I decided to quit while I was ahead.

Then we went to my Uncle Shane's house for a picnic. My cousin Anthony was visiting home for the first time in 3 years, so the family got together!

Uncle Shane, Uncle Scott, Pappy, Cousin Anthony

Nieces Ellie and Clementine, and Dad

Brother Julian, Mom, Niece Clementine, Aunt Tracy, Aunt Kathy, Uncle Shane

Me and my crazy fam!

On the way home, we stopped at an awesome secondhand book/movie/game store. We got a couple movies to watch and of course I got a coloring book!

What were you up to this weekend?
Do you color?
See any good movies lately?

  1. Looks like a fun weekend! Glad you were able to get back on track with your training. We did alot of (boring) furniture shopping this weekend and went to my parents' for a cookout. But it started raining so we had to stay inside. I haven't colored in forever but I do like it!

    1. I feel like furniture shopping would be more fun if we had unlimited funds and didn't have to worry about price. Am I right!???

  2. What a fun filled weekend--I loved seeing all the pictures. We had a party on Friday night and we had a party all day yesterday for the 4th and in between there we really just got caught up on some errands, hanging out and relaxing. It was so needed (last week we had something going on every night which I don't like). I have a coloring book that I will pull out when the weather turns bad and we are in watching football. I just watched the documentary called The Champions and it was about the pit bulls rescued from Michael Vick's dog fighting compound. The story followed the dogs after they left (not sure I could handle hearing about how they were tortured) and it was so good! I have so much respect for those that dedicate their lives to helping animals that need rescued!

    1. What kind of coloring book is it? Even though that movie doesn't talk about torture, I'm not sure I would be able to watch it! I have been getting way too sensitive. I'm glad you had a fun weekend but still had time to relax!

  3. That puzzle is intense! The scorpion has so many sides to it!

I keep seeing adult coloring books everywhere. I sort of want one, but I'm also sort of annoyed by the pictures they include for coloring. I hate how they all seem to be prismatic. I guess this makes the whole thing "advanced coloring" for adults, but I just want to color a regular picture that's going to look cute at the end. I guess I should buy a regular coloring book for kids!

I did lots of Keep Going this weekend! Unfortunately last night I laid wide awake in bed until 3am!

    1. Oh man I am so sorry you couldn't sleep last night. That is the worst.

I totally know what you mean about the coloring books you don't like very much because they are prismatic. I am the SAME WAY! I am not good at coloring and those prism ones make me feel like I may get outside the lines. The one a bought today is much more kid like. I also got another one I think you will like but check back tomorrow for that one! :)

  4. You had a really eventful weekend and got some good workouts in :). Love all your pics and seeing your puzzle too- that one looks like a lot of fun (it's been forever since I've put together a puzzle but now you have me wanting to).

    1. Oh man go get a puzzle! They are addicting! Good Will/Sal Val, and places like that usually have some interesting puzzles at good deals. :)

  5. Great weekend!! I love the "keep going". I don't get to do that very often since Frank is a super early riser that can't stand to let me sleep in. He's kind of a turd that way. I'm sorry that your knee hurt on that 8 miler. I wish our bodies would just let us run forever without pain.

  6. That puzzle looks so cool! and so pretty! What do you do with your puzzles when you are done with them? My older sister used to love doing puzzles, and after she completed them, she put them in a frame, and gift them to all of us. She gave me tree dog puzzles.

2ND and Charles is absolutely AWESOME!

You had a busy picnic weekend! How fun!!

I always tell Roger we need to make friends so we can get invited to picnics... then we remember we hate people and get over it.

    1. Ahahahaha!!!! Well at least you hang out with your family often. :)

I either give the puzzles to friends, donate, or if they are really shitty, I throw them out! Some of them that are really "good" and I think I will do again, I keep.

  7. I love the movie Easy A! Did your knee hurt yesterday? Just that once, hopefully.

    1. Nah it has been bugging me lately. It's my ITB thing. It will feel great for awhile and then it will bug me. Some old story about my dumb knee!

  8. Wow, that puzzle does look hard! I did a puzzle at school this year and the corners weren't at 90 degree angles and I thought that was tricky!

I laugh cus I have an Aunt Tammy and Uncle Jeff. I always find it ironic when you know multiple couples with the same name. For example, my neighbors to the left of me are Tom and Carol and the neighbors to the right of me are also Tom and Carol!

    1. That is funny! I will have to think if I know of any couples with the same name! I am sure I do, I just can't think off the top of my head.

  9. I was lazy a lot of the time this weekend, which was perfect for my cat. She loves to snuggle, and I threw her off this morning by doing my work day morning routine again. I wish I could stay home. I did get to the movies this weekend to see Tarzan. It was entertaining, and there was some good eye candy.

    1. Aw your poor kitty. :) My kitties love to sleep in and be lazy too. Luckily Paul is a SAHCD (stay at home cat dad) so they always have someone to be lazy with :)

  11. That puzzle looks SO fun!! I'd love the extra challenge of the pieces being untraditional!

It sounds like you had an awesome weekend! I'd like to go back and run where I first learned to run and see how fast I could do my little loop that felt SO difficult back in the day :)

  12. Thanks Karen :)

I understand it is hard to stop. One thing I tell myself is you can't undo doing too much. You can do too little and then do more next time. But you cannot undo crossing the line!

I have not heard of The Secret Life of Pets!!! Gonna look inyo that.
