Weekend Wrap Up!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Happy Monday! This is my last HAPPY Monday of the summer. Next Monday I will be back at work. But I will not complain because complaining about having 8 weeks off in the summer is really an asshole-ish thing to do!!

I am going to brag for a minute and say I slept for 10 1/2 hours before I woke up on Friday morning. I woke up when Christmas tried to pee on my pillow in efforts to get me to feed him. I'm not kidding. He can be an asshole if he really wants to be.

But because I love that little bugger, I went to the vet and bought him a 4lb bag of the dental food/treats he and Jelly love. I also got him the toothpaste he loves. Yes, we brush his teeth. Ever since he needed his teeth cleaned and one removed, we started to do preventative dental work at home.

A 4lb bag was $21. Christmas has me wrapped around his little paw...

2.5 oz of toothpaste... $11. Freaking-A this better last a long time.

I was reminded of this awesome gift two of my coworkers go me last year...

Truth.

You would think that after dropping so much cash on the cats I'd reel in my spending. Nope. We had to go to Wal Mart for fire wood and MY FAVORITE SHORTS that used to be $7.96 were on clearance! I swiped up every last pair they had in my size, which turned out to be five pairs total. I do not regret the decision! And look at the fun colors!

Who needs Lulu when you can get DANSKIN for $5!!!???

And that was all the excitement we had on Friday!

The plan was to do 8 miles on Saturday morning, but I ended up doing 10!!!! I was so happy that it went well! I will post a lot more about this run on Tuesday, but for now, here is my victory pose...

That night, Bob and Rachel came over for fire pit night. We had tons of fun as usual. A lot of cheese was eaten and a lot of laughs were had!

I am really good at mixing drinks! If you ever come for a game night,
just consider me the bartender!

Rachel and Bob!

We were a little loud late into the night... I hope we didn't bother our neighbors!

Sunday was our anniversary! Paul and I met almost 10 years ago and we have been married for 7 years!

I got Paul a little bag of goodies.

He loves flags and he has been wanting a cheesy wolf shirt for awhile.
We have a weird sense of humor. Don't ask!

The "grand" present was tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld in Hershey! Paul was so surprised and happy! He said he even teared up a little.

11:00am and we're still in our jammies.
(My face didn't catch the light but it's actually a good thing because I look like shit in the morning!)

We did our own thing that afternoon, which means I had plenty of time to do a short run, lift at home, and then mow the lawn.

That evening, we went to see the movie Vacation. It was a silly/stupid/crude comedy but we were in the mood for that so we really enjoyed it. It starred Ed Helms and Christina Applegate- both of whom I enjoy watching. But if you are looking for a "smart" comedy this is not it! After the movie, we had dinner on the deck at Duke's. It is actually the same place we had our first date.

To say I indulged is an understatement! I had two drinks, a philly cheese steak egg roll, and a FRIED CHICKEN SALAD. Hmmmm  how can you make a salad unhealthy? Put fried chicken and french fries on it!

Mmmm egg roll!

Then we walked around City Island, which is another place we went on our first date. Except on our first date we played mini golf there. I don't play mini golf anymore because I hate it. I am not good at it and somewhere around hole nine I start to get really bored and stop trying.

When we got home we capped off our special day by watching Big Brother in our jammies and eating leftover egg roll we didn't have room for at dinner. Mmmm... perfect!

I will leave you with this picture of Jelly. Whenever we bring boxes back from Aldi, we set one out for the cats to play in! See, they don't always have to be expensive!

What's the most expensive thing you buy/do for your pets?

Did you ever see any famous comedians perform?

Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

  1. Congratulations on your nice long run and your anniversary celebration! We have seen Jerry Seinfeld live. You will have an awesome time! I think that is such a perfect gift to both of you! Our weekend was fun--picnic at the lake Friday, Harley ride/picnic & dinner w/ friends Saturday, shopping & movie (Ant Man) Sunday. We really do like to pack it all in! It's so much fun!

    1. I was just going to say, you guys DO pack it in on the weekends! I know you work from home most of the time- do you think that makes you more antsy to get out and about on the weekends?

So cool that you also so Jerry Seinfeld! I am very excited and I Paul was just over the top saying how if he could pick ONE comedian to see in his life it would be Jerry. Boy did I do good!

    2. Yes, you did great! It will be a perfect evening to remember. I think because I work from home 3x per week, I am always wanting to get out and do stuff. I just love to "go out and play". But we also have our downtime, too. Especially once the weather gets colder and football starts (are Sundays are all about being home, cooking, watching the game, eating...)

  2. I had never heard of a philly cheesesteak eggroll but it sounds amazing!

The things we do for our spoiled cats! Cecil has a sensitive stomach and the food he eats cost close to $80/moI It used to cost closer to $120 but I found that I could buy it in bulk on Amazon and that helped a lot (amazon is amazing). It's honestly not the cost that bothers me, it's really the fact that he begs for his breakfast at 3am! I have the "walk to the kitchen with your eyes closed" thing down to a science! I think you've mentioned that Jelly and Christmas get their breakfast in the middle of the night too... we are crazy! haha

    1. lol we are sooooo whipped. Yes they get their's in the middle of the night. Sometimes they even get something called a "Shut up snack". Just a quick snack around 2:30am to SHUT THEM UP!!

$80 a month is a lot, but that isn't even $3 a day to feed and keep your beautiful baby Cecil healthy, so it is totally worth it. :)

  4. Most expensive thing we bought our Labrador was a swimming pool!..lol

But I totally understand where you are coming from. I brush our labs teeth too. She had to have a tooth pulled and we even had her teeth professionally cleaned. I willl spend more $ on shampoo and treats for her than I will myself. Hey, they are like our kids, right?

    1. HAHAHA girl if my kitties wanted to swim I bet we would have a pool by now!!! :) Your doggies is so lucky! They are totally our kids!

The reason I started brushing their teeth is because he had gingivitis and needed a tooth pulled and the vet basically said if we didn't start brushing we'd be back in a year! I HATED that they had to put Christmas under for his teeth cleaning. I was useless that day... so worried I don't want to ever hve to do that again! Although it was really cute when he came home and was still high on the drugs hehehe. He walked around like a zombie.

  5. I was at the vet this morning with my pup and spent almost a whole paycheck on her. She's worth it though! I would do pretty much anything for her, so spoiled!!

    1. Awww she is lucky to have you. :) Our fur babies give us so much joy and they love us unconditionally, so it's the least we can do to keep them healthy and happy! :)

  6. Oh man, I would totally buy expensive things for my cat if I didn't have to sneak it by the boyfriend..... he's always like "he doesn't need more toys! he doesn't need a cat tree! i'm not building him furniture!" but its soooo awesome when Loki likes stuff! he gets so cute about it hahah.

    1. Aw I think it is sweet that we spoil our pets. I mean they give us so much joy, it's the least we can do for them! I mean, the happiness my kitties give me- you can't put a price on it!

  7. I think the most expensive thing we do for our dogs is just the food we buy. At around $50 a bag (albeit huge bag) that adds up throughout the year.

    1. That is a lot but I am sure they are worth it. :)

  8. Happy Anniversary! Love the victory pose. And I'm so jealous that you guys get to have fire pits. We have a fire ban here because of the dry heat. Booooo.

    1. Oh that stinks! Will it be lifted or is it an all year thing? Paul told me to do that pose. I am sure it has to do with football or something dumb but I was so high that I would have done any pose!

  9. Happy Anniversary! That t-shirt is hilarious and so cheesy that it's awesome! Pepe was recently diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease, so I'm willing to do/pay whatever I can afford to make sure he has a good life and we try to manage the disease. It's tough because as you know my finances are VERY tight so where do you draw the line? Well now that I saw your pictures I think it's time for lunch!

    1. Oh I am so sorry Pepe and you have to deal with that. :( I agree, it is a hard line to draw when a pet is sick. Vet care has progressed so much and we are forced to make decisions we used to not have to make. People used to not have to make several thousand dollar decisions to prolong their pet's life because technology just wasn't there. I know you will do all you can to make Pepe healthy and comfortable as his disease is managed. You are a good momma!

  10. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Mine was last month-1 years, but we've been together for 10! Yah for your 10 miles. I bet that felt so wonderful to get a double digit run in with your knee/hip annoyances. I am glad you indulged...what else are anniversaries for?
My little dogs are so spoiled-I think about them more then myself when it comes to material things. We buy them expensive food, but whenever I am at the store I find myself looking for a new squeaky toy. We must have 20 in our small place.
I am leaving for Ireland to do a 14 day hiking trip soon, and they are being looked after by a woman who charges a hefty price. Can't take any risks when it comes to my babies ;)

    1. Happy Anniversary back at ya! Not just for being married, but for being together 10 years. :)

We get an overnight cat sitter when we are gone on vaycay too! I agree, it's not worth the risk and the only way I would ever have fun on vacation would be if I know my babies were being taken care of.

Have a FABULOUS trip to Ireland!!! :)

  11. Chrissy does that too! Stares you right in the eye and then pees on something! What little buggars!

    I like Jeff Dunham :)

I have some expensive cold gear but I think with most shorts there's no need to buy super expensive.

  12. LOL - yep, don't be that person complaining because your work-free summer is over :) Happy anniversary to both of you. Such a cute couple! We have had cats that have been diabetic (shots every day), needed fluids (hanging bags of fluids and IVs) and had to get an ultrasound done on my cat's head (boooo, cancer found). Can't say No to help our family members lead a happy life :) I can't say I've ever brushed cat's teeth though. Good for you!

    1. Aw it sounds like you take such good care of your fur babies! I am sorry you found cancer. :( I really hope your kitty is comfortable and doing well. Christmas had a couple scares that required ultrasounds and ER visits... but yes, they are part of the family so if we can afford it we will do it!

Christmas likes the teeth brushing because the toothpaste is chicken or seafood flavored. It's not like brushing out own teeth. I pretty much stick the brush in his face, he chews on it, and I get as many swipes in as I can. I hope I get better at it so that one day I am straight up brushing his teeth.

  13. It sounds like you had a great anniversary! My best friend loves tacky wolf shirts and has one for each day of the week. I wish I were kidding. I'm well known as the bartender in my circle of friends too, mostly because I don't mess around with the alcohol. Drinks are meant to be strong! And don't even get me started on mini-golf. I hate it, but every time we have a family vacation with my dad, we end up playing. I just mess around the entire time. Last time I got TWO holes in one just by hitting the ball as hard as possible. I always say my strategy is "not giving a shit."

    1. I love strong drinks! I like my alcohol to taste like alcohol. :) You and I have the same mini golf strategy! Now I bet if there was a mini golf course where you could drink, we would enjoy it!
