Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Ali, over at Hit the Ground Running nominated me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. The purpose of this award is to share with your readers other bloggers who inspire you. It is coincidental that Ali should nominate me for this award because she in fact inspires me. I started reading Ali's blog right around the time I started blogging... So pretty much my whole blogging life I have been stalking keeping up with her adventures. I am not only inspired by her dedication to fitness- (not just running, but a very well rounded resume of adventures) but her writing. She is an English teacher, so it would make sense that she is an excellent writer... !!!! I pretty much have a blogging crush on Ali. There, I said it. And since she listens to Dan Savage, I know she will be warmed by the comment, not creeped out. (At least I hope!)

According to the award, I am to share 7 things about me. Here I go!

1. Growing up, I was not an athlete. In fact, every gym class goal of mine in high school was to sweat so little that I didn't need a shower. I also quit softball after one practice and track after five practices.

2. But I definitely wasn't a lazy kid. From the time I was 9 years old until now, I have been singing and dancing in musicals. Sadly, I don't do it as much anymore because apparently I enjoy getting 8 hours of sleep every night more than I enjoy performing. Augh, adult responsibilities.

Rocky Horror Picture Show from a couple years ago.
Can you find me!!!???

3. I met my husband Paul on Myspace. (How 2005 of us!) He randomly messaged me one night. We started chatting on AOL instant messenger, and then one night we met up at a bar- face to face. On the way home, I called my mom and told her I met the man I was going to marry. I don't know how I could possibly know that after just one meeting, but I was right!

The earliest pic I have of us- 2005!

4. We are never having children. Paul doesn't want them and I don't want them. I teach elementary school children so I get my fair share of kids. I enjoy them in a structured setting. But when the setting is not structured... just kids running around and screaming... I can't take it. I enjoy being around them in school, but then I want to go home to my cats. That's just the way it is!

5. I wish I had more friends. Most of my friends either live far away or they have kids so it is hard to hang out with them. Dear friends, I want to hang out with you! Love, Megan.

6. This isn't necessarily a fact, but people tell me my celebrity doppelganger is Pam from The Office.

You be the judge!

7. I am having a very hard time coming up with a seventh fact. I blog every darn day, I must have told you everything there is to know about me, right? Well, here is a post I did a long time ago that will tell you 10 "Interesting" Things About Me!

And now, I shall nominate a blogger who inspires me! Courtney @ Running for Cupcakes is running her very first marathon! She's got her shit together, something I definitely didn't have when I was her age! Go Courtney! You are an official recipient of the Very Inspirational Blogger Award!

Tell me something interesting about you!
Who is your celeb doppelganger?
Kids... yay or nay?
Ever been in a musical?

  1. I love that you guys met online! I don't know why but I just think is such a cool thing :) Rick and I are not having kids either and I also wish my friends were more available. Like you, many have kids or live far away. So, here is an idea: move to Colorado :) LOL. Glad you had an awesome vacation.

    2. But then you could sign up for marathons at sea level and go kill it since you are training at high altitude :) Any time I run at sea level I am just loving it and thinking I am such a good runner. Then I come home and "not so much"

    3. I know I should totally go run a 5k tomorrow! So even though you LIVE in CO, it is easier for you to breath at sea level?

  3. Thank you so so sooo much for the nomination! I'm honored! I was the same as you growing up! I never wanted to get sweaty at school, but I danced my heart out at the studio every day afterward.

  4. I feel the same way about having kids. And I also wish I had more friends nearby. I still can't believe how hard it is to make friends as an adult.

    1. I know :( Most of the people I meet have kids and then there's just no way they will have the time to hang.

  5. It is so crazy and romantic that Paul randomly messaged you on MySpace and that you knew right away that he was the one! I love that instant connection thing!

I met Adam at a Halloween party in college. I'm not big on talking to strangers but as he walked by me to go out the front door I reached out and grabbed his arm to stop him so I could introduce myself. Back then he looked exactly like Ryan Phillipe a la Cruel Intentions and I kind of liked Ryan in that movie :) I still can't believe I actually reached out and stopped him, it must have been alcohol induced bravery + fate :D

    1. Wow! That was very bold of you but alcohol does that. Ryan Phillipe, huh??? I probably would have grabbed his arm too!!!

  6. I love that you and Paul met on MySpace.

Why is making friends so hard after graduation?! I wish all my blogger friends lived nearby so they could be IRL friends, too!
