Thinking Out Loud #6- R-A-N-D-O-M-N-ES-S-!

Today's post is a Thinking Out Loud link up with Amanda @ Running With Spoons. If you have not yet headed over to her blog, please do so, STAT!!!! I love this link up. I can gather all of my random thoughts into one place. Who cares if this blog post is disconnected? That's the whole point!

Now, let the R-A-N-D-O-M-N-E-S-S begin!

Thinking-Out-Loud

1. I got up at the butt crack of dawn this morning. I am having my knee scoped to remove a plica. Hopefully, it will FINALLY BE FIXED!! I will give you an update tomorrow on how it all went. (The good news about being the first surgery of the day is that my surgeon will be bright eyed and bushy tailed! Also, at least I don't have to worry about being hungry and thirsty all day, like I would be if I had an afternoon surgery!)

Funny Confession Ecard: Calling your best friend a bitch-whore is totally acceptable if you're hangry.

2. Ever since I bought a huge bag of cheese curls at Amelia's a week or so ago, I have been eating 26 of them before bed most nights. Why 26? Because that's a serving size. Why right before I go to bed? Because sometimes I lack self control. I don't even sit down to enjoy these puffs of artificial cheese and chemicals. I stand by the pantry and devour them right out of the bag. Shame on me!

Mmm.... chemicals!

3. I have been sleeping in really late on Saturdays. Like, really late. This past Saturday, I didn't get up until 1:07pm. I blame Jelly, who slept between my legs all night.

You'd have a hard time getting up too if this baby boy was cuddling with you.

4. I need more patience. Especially at work. I feel like I hit my patience threshold so much sooner than I used to. Does anyone have tips to help me just chill the heck out when I feel like I am being pulled in 100 different directions?

I'm currently in 10% category.

5. On Sunday night, while watching the Grammy Red Carpet on E!, I had a few thoughts...

Madonna's grill was disgusting.

Julianna Rancic should eat a cheeseburger.
All I think of when I looked at her is OSTEOPOROSIS.

I wish I were a celebrity and had loads of money to travel,
go to fun events, and eat sushi every day.

6. When I was at the doctor's office on Monday, the eleven-year-old beside my was messing around on her smartphone while I was texting on my flip phone. Which leads me to two questions...

1. Why does that child have a smart phone?

2. What do I still have a flip phone?

The best answer I got came from my pal Emily over at House in the Heights. "Because she can be added to the family data plan for WAY less per month than you'd have to pay for an individual plan." Genius!

This has been my phone for the past 4 (at least) years. I love it!
Look at the keyboard for texting!!!

7. And now for a super serious question. A friend of mine (for real, I am not asking this for myself!!!) needs to know what to do when "your boobs hurt too much to run". I don't know why she was asking me because I have no boobs, but I am a runner, so I guess she thought I'd know. I suggested wearing 3 sports bras and she said that doesn't work. So I pose the question to blog-land: "What do you do when your boobs hurt too much to run???"

Funny Friendship Ecard: Friends are like boobs. Some are big. Some are small. Some are real. Some are fake.

Your turn! Tell me something random. Think out loud...
Or, tell me how to help my friend's boobs!

  1. I've never been one to judge someone, but I personally have thought Guiliana has been getting a bit thin over the past 2 years. I just pray she's healthy & is doing well.

Surgery? Eh - you'll be in my thoughts and prayers, girl!

    1. I know I hope so too! I know those in the entertainment business constantly are pressured to be super skinny... It's sad.

  2. Good luck! I am of no help to your friend I guess, I'm a D/DD but they don't hurt. They did after my first marathon though... Best advice I can give is get a really good sports bra (mine hurt if I wear a crap one or one suited for B cups) and do a lot of back strengthening exercises because your back has to support all that weight when you run.

    1. That is a good suggestion about the back strengthening exercises! I never thought of that. I will suggest it to her.

  3. Lol! I wish I could help your friend, but I'm neither a serious runner nor do I have serious boobs, so I'm afraid my advice wouldn't be any good. And good luck on your surgery today, lovely lady! Keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending plenty of healing vibes your way <3

  4. I wish I could help your friend out, but every since losing weight, I've lost my boobs as well. I can use one sports bra and be just fine. I am sending healing thoughts your way!

  5. haha! I can totally relate to the cheese snacks. I have no control when it comes to the cheez-its in the box that are like chex mix and come in the box. I rarely buy them because I'll eat half a box in a sitting! I found you though the linkup and started following you on bloglovin. I just posted a linkup myself specifically for you fitness (and knitting) posts - I'd love for you to stop by!

    1. I will definitely stop by your blog! My mom is a huuuuuge knitter. Thanks for following me :) Anything cheesey or fake cheesey is so good!

  6. Good luck with your surgery. You're probably actually done by now. I missed the Grammy's because my digital converter box is stuck on NBC (long story). But I saw G at the Golden Globes and yeah, she is looking VERY thin. I know she dealt with breast cancer so I do wish her the best, but I hope she is taking care of herself. I have no boobs either so mine never hurt. I guess that's a plus? :) I'm with you on work patience. I was screaming at my computer yesterday because I had so many technical problems due to someone else's negligence. The universe could not be sending me stronger signals that I need to move away from that soul-sucking client and work that I do for them.

    1. Yes, let them go!!! You don't need that shit in your life. Hey there are worse channels than NBC to get stuck on. At least you have Matt Lauer in the am!

    2. There is something rather sexy about Matt, isn't there?

    3. Uh huh!!! :) I can't believe he's 56.

  7. I have been eating the baked natural white cheddar cheese puffs at night lately. They're natural, must be healthy right? :)

For your friend I would suggest trying a sports bra one size down from what feels comfortable. I know this sounds kind of crazy but I am a busty lady (lol) and I wear super tight sports bras for my long runs to reduce the bounce. There will definitely be discomfort when you first put it on *because* it's tight ... but I find once I'm running I completely forget about it. I also think once it's on and you start running it stretches out a tiny bit which makes it more comfortable (but still tight enough to keep the boobs in place).

As a sidenote: it will give you serious uniboob.

  9. As a runner with big boobs, these 3 steps have literally changed my life. I went from saving up for a breast reduction, to not even considering it. Hopefully it will also be helpful to your friend.
    1. Go to http://www.lindasonline.com/bra-fitting-calculator.html. It shows you how to measure yourself properly. For me, Victoria's Secret method didn't work, the '4 inches from the top of the bust' rule. Bra sizes are a ratio of fullest part of the breast to band size, a G cup can be the same volume as a DD cup depending on the band size. A band size that is close to your body measurement should be doing all of the support work, not the straps. When I wore a 38 DD, I could pull the band several inches away from my body, in a 34G the band is snug, I can only get 2 fingers underneath. I don't have shoulder pain from the straps anymore. Also, the center of the bra should lay flat against your chest, which is something that I never knew!
    2. I absolutely love www.bravissimo.com. These are *real* bras, they are properly made with good structure. They are pricey, but they are worth every penny. I have bras that are 2 years old and are still in perfect condition(and they are beautiful bras! not granny bras!) . I love the Panache sports bras for running (http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sports-bras/panache-sports-bra/coral-print/pr100cpr/?level=1).
    3. I wear a regular bra underneath the Panache sports bra and have no bounce and no pain. I have gone from hating my boobs and feeling like they didn't belong to my body, to actually loving my shape.
    Good luck to your friend!

  10. I am loving your thoughts on the whole phone situation! Literally made me LOL! I have had my older BlackBerry smart phone for years and refused to get rid of it because I loved the keyboard (and it was pink)! I finally upgraded to the new blackberry last year! No i-phone for me, I gotta have a keyboard! Prayers to you for a great surgery!

  14. I too have little boobs and am not very helpful. But I can tell you that if I had a clear bag of cheese snacks like that, they'd be all gone already. I know it's the clear bag that makes them so enticing. :-)
