I planned some RACE-CATIONS!

Guys, I planned two little race-cations!

The first race-cation I planned for the end of June is to Montpelier, VT. I will be running the Catamount Trail 25k that starts and ends at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, VT. This will be about a 7.5 hour drive and we will be staying 3 nights.

There is so much we want to do in Vermont! Paul has a couple breweries he wants to visit. Alchemist is at the top of his list. The Trapp Family Lodge has a disc golf course, so he won't be bored while I run my race!

Also, we'll only be 40 minutes from Burlington, so we are going to visit that city while we're up there. We were in Burlington together before we were married. I ran the Keybank Vermont City Marathon. I'm excited to go back and experience the city again as I don't remember much from our first trip!

Interesting fact... the Maura Murray crash site in Haverhill, NH is only about an hour from our hotel. I wonder if I could convince Paul to drive there with me? Probably not.

We can't wait to go to Vermont!

The second race-cation I planned will actually be here before we know it! It's in early May to Charlottesville, VA. I will be running the UROC 25k in the Blue Ridge Mountains! I'm also looking forward to exploring the city, touring Monticello, and visiting some wineries!

Now I'm addicted... I may have even planned some more trips before this was posted!
Any tips for visiting Vermont or Charlottesville?

  2. Sounds like fun! Most of my vacations, outside of holidays, have been race-cations. What better way to see a place?

    1. Yup! And I am too nervous to run trail alone, so races are the perfect opportunity for me to do it and feel safe.

  3. I hope you have a great time- both of those sound like really fun trips and why not do a run while you're there, right?

    1. Yes! I actually found the races first and then planned the trip around those. Although we have been meaning to go to Charlottesville. Vermont, on the other hand, wasn't on our radar until recently.

  5. Oh yay, I love the idea of race-cations. I have yet to book one myself.... (I don't call San Francisco a race-cation, even though I stay at a hotel).
