Weekend Wrap Up (Part 2)

Happy Tuesday!
I hope you had a great weekend.
Due to the three day weekend, I decided to do this wrap up in two parts! Check out Part 1 here!
My day began with coffee!

Thanks to Kristina @ Kristina Running for this awesome mug! You can purchase at her shop, BEAMM. $1 from each mug is donated to help shelter animals!

Chrissy, get off the counter!
Just kidding, you are allowed up there.

I had to get a 6 miler done bright and early because we actually had plans to travel to Philadelphia for a baby shower later in the day. I literally ran to Dollar General to get a bag and card for the gifts we were bringing. It was VERY cold but I braved it and only wore one pair of pants!

On the way to Philly, Paul and I talked and caught up on our lives. I have been so busy going from work, piano lessons, and rehearsal that we haven't really had time to connect. Halfway to Philly, Kristina texted me an article about Aziz Ansari being accused of sexual assault. Paul read the article out loud and we were both so grossed out and disappointed. I really liked Aziz. Well, now I don't have to make time to watch the second season of his Netflix show!

The baby shower was in honor of our friends Maggie and Cheetah and their little girl who is coming in 6 weeks! It was a lovely shower and we had so much fun chatting with friends and the proud parents to be!

Maggie!

Brittany and Joe

Joe, Bob, Cheetah, Paul

Bob is pissed that we didn't pick him up from the train station.
Just kidding.

On the way home it became clear to me that NO ONE was going to use their turn signal on the turnpike that day. Absolutely no one. Everyone was just switching lanes and passing all willy nilly. Why don't people use their turn signals!?

When I got home that night, I practiced my music and dancing from Godspell rehearsal the day before. My memory is VERY shitty and I need to go over things A LOT until they stick. Once they stick, I won't have to practice every day anymore.

MONDAY

Full disclosure: I've been sleeping a lot this weekend. About 11 hours each night. But this night I only got about 7 hours. Whomp whomp.

Since Paul was hogging the TV to catch up on football, I went out to run errands first thing in the morning. I hit up some thrift shops to look for a costume for Godspell. I didn't find one but I did get some good inspiration! What I did find was a sweet denim jacket for $2.50 and of course a puzzle!

When I got home, I didn't feel like working out but I decided to lift chest at home anyway. Then I worked on a puzzle.

That evening, Paul and I poured some Apothic Red and played cards! Monopoly Deal, Rummy and Casino were on the docket.

Then we made a yummy salmon dinner! (Salmon was 1/2 off!) I was going to post a picture but.... I forgot.

I was debating on whether to stay up late or not because we're supposed to get a lot of snow tomorrow. I was wondering whether we would have school or not. Only time will tell...
Do people use turn signals in your neck of the woods?
Did you see the Aziz article!?

What were you up to this weekend?

  1. I hate when people don't use turn signals! It's the most annoying thing I swear. I will never understand the people that don't use them. I heard about Aziz and I'm curious what will happen. The article I read seemed weird like the girl didn't say anything until after it happened but that's also just how the article stated it so who knows the truth and what the author did and did not decide to add in. I loved his character in Parks and Rec.

How is Monopoly Deal? I want to get some more simple games for Alex and I!

    1. I hate it too because it's seriously the easiest thing to do! In the original article where the women was interviewed she gave verbal "nos" throughout the night. This is the article, if it interests you to read: https://babe.net/2018/01/13/aziz-ansari-28355 It is long!

Monopoly Deal is one of our favorite games! You will love it! Get it!

  2. I don't even know who Aziz is!
I was hoping we would have a delay today too, but nothing. Maybe tomorrow. I don't notice about turn signals but I can tell you up on the highway this morning it was bad. I don't know that the roads themselves were so bad but people were driving so slow like they were bad. I totally appreciate the cautious driving but some one is going to cause an accident!

    1. Aziz played Tom Haverford, a hilarious character on the TV series Parks and Rec. He is also a stand up comic and recently within the past few years got his own show on Netflix called Masters of None which is really funny.

Okay I am that slow driver when it is precipitating! But the non main road I take to work always has snow that lays on it and it makes me so nervous! But I don't fluctuate my speed. I stay around 30 so at least if you're stuck behind me you're not going to be suddenly braking, etc, unless you are riding my ass.

  3. I didn't realize you would have to buy your own costume for Godspell. Do they give you guidelines on what to get, or do you just have a general sense of what your character would wear?

I was also sort of relieved that I now don't have to watch the second season of Aziz's show because we cancelled our Netflix subscription and I was going to have to renew it. Adam said there had been rumors about Aziz before but I had never heard of anything.

    1. I wonder where Adam heard the rumors from? I had never heard them either. We have Netflix and I rarely watch it but Paul watches it ALL the time.

We don't necessarily have to buy our own costume, we were welcome to look through all the costumes at the theater. Or we could use something we already own or get it at a thrift shop or something. We are supposed to get a costume to represent any time period where there was Christ. So not just 1900s but 1800s, 1700s, 1600s, etc. I chose 70s flower child which will go well with the style of the song I sing in the show- Day by Day. So my plan is to find a flowy peasant top in the color yellow (director wants bright colors) at a thrift store and get some jeans there that are either bell bottoms already or I can have my aunt make them into bell bottoms which is really easy to do if you cut a slit at the bottom and sew in extra fabric. Then for accessories I was thinking a peace sign necklace, feather earrings, and since I don't have long hair, some sort of hair band/wrap that has long fabric that will hang down. So that is my costume vision! Tops and jeans at the thrift stores around here are usually $5 or less so this will not be an expensive costume to put together.

  4. I love your haircut from your last post! It looks so cute short. I wish I had hair that could be that short. Mine just turns into a puffy mess. Frank and I have been pretty busy with work too. We’ve been spending the weekends hiking with our friends. This weekend we are heading to Bryce Canyon for some us time and I’m pretty excited about it.

    1. Bryce Canyon! I think I forgot you moved to Utah! I see a blog post of your's in my feed and I can't wait to read it when I get home. :) My hair can be poofy but thankfully not so much with the shortness. I also use hair glue to keep it either sticking up or slicked down.

  5. We got snow yesterday, but business is usual at work... except the heat went out. 2nd time in two weeks. I'm still wearing my parka!

  6. We have our share of bad drivers here in MN! Sounds like you had a good weekend other than that though! The puzzle is a nice find! I haven't done a puzzle in a long time and now I want to. And in response to your comment above about hair glue - what brand do you use? I'm always looking for new short hair products :)

    1. I use Regis Design Line molding glue extra firm hold. Not sure if you have any Regis near you! It is a little expensive... $12. But it lasts like two months. And it was just buy one get one so I did that and now I'm set for a long time!

  7. Ever since I got my super warm winter running tights, I haven't had to wear two pairs of tights. I've worn them skiing too, very comfy! I think we have pretty good drivers around here. Or at least I'm lucky enough not to run into the bad ones! Wow, 11 hours of sleep is a lot. I can't think of that last time I slept that long. Hope you are feeling OK. Lot of flu going on around in our town!

    1. Are your tights waterproof? What if you fall while you are running?

  8. Why is it so hard to use turn signals? GAH! The other day, I was in the lane to turn left and the car in front of me was blinking right... so I thought he was in the wrong lane and needed to get over to continue straigt... but no, he took a left turn upon the light turning green... and then stopped at an intersection where there was no stop sign, to then turn right without using the turn signal... WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??

    1. Whenever I go on a long car ride I always come home wondering how in the world there aren't MORE accidents.

  9. Well now there is a whole bruhaha over weather Aziz is guilty of sexual misconduct or not SO depending on your take on the story he may still be good in your book. I feel like those who are defending him fail to see that she DID give verbal nos, not just nonverbal AND before he called her the uber he followed her around the apartment. So creepy! Not Harvey Weinstein level of sickness or anything like that but still something men need to be aware of that it makes women feel uncomfortable! (Sorry you didn't ask for that tangent!)

  10. I know I'm very late to this conversation, but here is my opinion on the Azis situation... Men need to be more aware of their general behavior and realize that they don't own women's bodies... no matter how famous, or woke they feel they are. I recently read a book by W. Kamau Bell, who considers himself to be very aware of his behavior as a black male, and didn't consider himself sexist. but a friend of his called him out on being sexist, she told him that he was hiding behind his race to call women ugly and bitchy, which is always a problem.

I have had this conversation with the men in my life, because there is one man in my life who will say shit about women's appearance when he is pissed off, even thought he considers himself to be respectful of all women. He had a hard time understanding where I was coming from. where am I going with this? Men are clueless, they have been allowed to treat women and women's bodies as their property for so long that being called out on it is shocking to them.

    1. I'm glad you added your two cents! I definitely agree with everything you said. I will share a story about a friend with you in private that is a bit similar.
