Friday 5: Shows always on my DVR.

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I'm going to share 5 TV shows that are always on my DVR.

1. Morning Joe. I only started watching this morning show a couple months ago. It's three hours long, so I don't watch the whole thing and I don't watch it every day. But I always record it just in case something is going on in the news and I want to hear Mika and Joe's perspective. Additionally, their first 45(ish) minutes are available in podcast form, so sometimes I will listen to the show that way. They cover the best stuff in the first 45 minutes anyway.

2. The Lead with Jake Tapper. I LOVE JAKE TAPPER! (Jake Tappy for short.) He's a really good journalist who I have yet to sense a bias from. This is usually my news show of choice, but I recently discovered his show is in podcast form so I can catch up on it the next day on my drive to work if I want to.

Jack Tapper is always concerned for America...
We all are, Jake. We all are...

3. The View. I've watched The View for years and actually was in the studio audience twice! Joy Behar is and always will be my favorite co-host. I normally watch Hot Topics and fast forward interviews that don't interest me.

4. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. This is another show we were in the studio audience for! Colbert's political monologues are BITING. Again, we sometimes fast forward the interviews if the guest is someone we're not interested in. If you received a Snap Chat from me several days ago that simply said "I hate Justin Timberlake", it's because we were watching him on Colbert and he is just ANNOYING. He tries so hard to be funny and he's not. And he think his shit doesn't stink. Wow, that was a tangent! I hope I didn't alienate my JT loving readers!

.
5. Survivor/Big Brother.  Since these are both CBS reality shows, I combined them. Paul and I get very invested in each season of Survivor and Big Brother. Big Brother is only on for 100 days in the summer and Survivor has two 12 week seasons a year. So for about half the year, we have no reality TV to watch. People have suggested The Amazing Race but my least favorite part of Survivor and Big Brother are the challenges, and that's what I feel like most of The Amazing Race is, right? Guess what is starting soon? The FIRST season of CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER! I am very excited, even though I have a feeling the "celebrities" are going to be people like Snooki and Omarosa. I think I will do a post on my DREAM Big Brother cast...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I don't have DVR at the moment, but I always buy Big Brother and watch on Amazon - we don't get it here in Hong Kong. I'm excited to watch the celebrity season too!

    1. I am glad to meet a fellow Big Brother fan! I suppose you can't get CBS All Access in Hong Kong, can you?

  3. Our DVR is all stuff for Rick--except Anthony Bourdain shows. I honestly watch news and sports and his travel/food show and that is kind of it.

  4. I don't have DVR and don't really watch TV...although sometimes we will find shows to watch on Netflix. I like being able to watch them whenever and not have to watch at a certain time!

    1. Even though I enjoy The View I could live without it. And my news shows I could get in podcast form. I wish we could quit cable and save $$ but Paul HAS to watch his sports. And I get it. Watching sports is his thing.

  5. I don't own a DVR and don't watch much TV except for the local news. I used to watch The View but all the arguing kind of got to me!

    1. They do argue a lot! I can't watch the local news because it's always so sad. Like there's a fire or a hurt animal or a police officer shot or a suicide or just all these things. I wish they had a local news channel that was all GOOD stuff, because so much good stuff does happen.

  6. I can't stomach the View all they do is yell at each other and no one can hear anyone else. I am more of a Kelly and Ryan morning TV girl :)

    1. They do yell and argue! Did you watch Kelly back when it was Regis and Kelly or Kelly and Michael?

  7. I don't have a DVR but wish I did! I love watching the first two minutes of CBS This Morning. They have something called the eye opener which is your world in 90 seconds. It's awesome! It covers the most important news topics in just 90 seconds. While it isn't the most informative, it at least gives me a heads up of what is going on.

    1. That 90 seconds makes me think of my NYT app and how it sends me an alert every morning with "5 things you need to know this morning". I can just read the 5 headlines or if something interests me and I need to learn more, I can read the couple paragraphs they include about it.

  8. I actually love the Amazing Race because it's interesting to see the different countries and the cultural stuff they have to do (many of which are the challenges LOL). I don't DVR anything, so it's hit/miss when I actually see something on prime time.

    1. Hmmm after all of these Amazing Race comments I think I may have to at least try it? It would be fun if we got into it because there are so many seasons we could catch up on.

  9. Some of these i've never heard of! I use to watch the view (when I would be off work) but really the only lady i've liked on there over the years has been Joy. The other ones they get seem to annoy me. The Osborne lady was okay as far as I can remember.

Our DVR is mostly stuff that Scott watches since I don't watch much tv but we do have stuff that we like to watch together. Right now we have mostly Datelines and 20/20's, the coroner, and we are SO far behind on This is US. Amazing Race is on now too, so we will have that to look forward to!

    1. Joy is my favorite too and I was so sad when she left. I'm glad she is back. A lot of the people on The View annoy me too. Whoopi, Sarah, and Meghan annoy me. Sunny used to but she's grown on me. If Joy left I would have to stop watching!

  11. I haven't heard of some of these news shows so I will check them out. I really like The Good Doctor right now and have several DVRed episodes to catch up on when I'm off work.

  12. I'm usually home for my TV shows, and being in Colorado helps too. In Dallas, there were times where'd I go to bed early, so I had to DVR later shows. Elementary was late, and Vikings was on a later time slot. Or if shows conflict, I'll watch one live and DVR the other.

    1. When we traveled to CA this past summer we were trying to figure out when Big Brother would be on! It was a Thursday and was a live show. Well live in the east coast is 9pm... so we were like, okay is it going to be on at 6pm in cali? It was confusing!

  13. Lots of great shows! Sunday Morning did an interview with Mika and Joe a few months ago.

Sunday Morning was one show that I used to watch on Real Time, but I haven't seen it in almost two years! But right now, I'm OBSESSED with The Crown on Netflix.

  14. The Celebrity Big Brother did pique my interest! I'm such a celebrity junkie! That's funny because my favorite part of the Amazing Race & Survivor are the challenges. So different! My DVR is full of House Hunters International. I just LOVE learning about different cities around the world and each time I watch it I tell Alan - "guess where I want to move today??".

    1. I'm not sure how famous these "celebrities" will be, but we will see! Yes I know lots of people like the Survivor challenges. I like the social drama. I used to watch House Hunters all the time! Maybe I should start dvring that...
