Friday 5: Easy Decorating Tips for the Holidays

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I'm going to share 5 QUICK ways you can decorate your home for Christmas. I know many people don't have a lot of time but still like to make their house look festive. Here are some ideas for you!

**Note: Earlier this week I did a detailed Vlog with a tour of my house decorated for Christmas. If you missed it, check it out!**

1. Switch out your normal towels, dishes/plates and pillows for Christmas themes/colors. We have hand towels in the bathroom, dish towels in the kitchen, a couple plates we set out, and of course some Christmas pillows! It shouldn't take long to do a quick switcheroo.

Yes, I decorate my toilet!

Why not a holiday plate for your remote? :)

2. Dining room table. A beautiful holiday table can make the whole room look festive! All you need is a tablecloth, place mats, a centerpiece, and some napkins with candy canes instead of place settings. If you already own these items, it will take 10 minutes (TOPS) to decorate your table. If you don't own these items... hit up Dollar General!

3. Framed Christmas cards. We get lots of Christmas cards in the mail, and if I see a beautiful one, I frame it for the next year and use it as decoration. Take down some photos around your house and replace them with your framed Christmas cards.

I have also been known to frame Christmas Carols!

4. Clear lights and sprigs. You can get strings of 50-100 lights for just a couple bucks. Same with pine cones and other berries/sprigs. They can really spruce up a room and it doesn't take long to set them out. I put them on side tables, my hutch, my wine cabinet, my piano, etc.

5. Presents and stockings! As you wrap presents, set them out as decorations! This may be the easiest way to decorate of all!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have any tips for QUICK holiday decorating?

    1. Thanks Deborah! It's hard to find ones to frame now because most people do the photo cards of their families- which I obviously enjoy getting but you can't frame them for the next year. Happy Hanukkah!

  2. I just realized I have NO holiday towels or dishes!!! I will be doing more sprucing up of the house today and will send you some pics! You are always so good with the little details! BTW, didn't you have pinecones on your toilet last year?...haha

  4. Love these tips! One thing I need to grab after Christmas (when it's on sale) is some festive towels, pillows and dishes. I can't wait for that next year.

I would not have thought to frame Christmas carols. My boyfriend is really into music so I'll have to keep that in mind for next year.

Before we wrapped presents that we are giving, I took empty boxes from around the house and wrapped those for under the tree. It filled it out without having to buy anything we didn't need.

    1. Wrapping random boxes was a great idea! You know my aunt always wraps up some of the pictures she has on the wall and then frames them, so it looks like presents are hanging on the wall.

  5. I'm going to steal your idea of framing Christmas cards and do that with some of my wedding cards! I can't stand the idea of them sitting in a box for years.

    1. Aw that sounds lovely! Wouldn't that be cool to do that for a kid? Like choose a card for each birthday until they are 18 and save to frame?

  15. I LOVE the idea to frame holiday cards! I think I did that years ago...but somehow have not done it in years. I save most of my cards from year-to-year, so I certainly have plenty to choose from ;-)
