Not a day for a fluffy post.

Sometimes I feel stupid for writing light and fluffy posts most days of the week. I know, everyone needs time in their day for "fluff", and maybe my blog is your little bit of fluff in the morning. There is a place for serious talk and a place for fluff.

But on a day like today, when people are hurting... victims of Harvey, DREAMers, my friends in Florida who are bracing for Irma... I feel like it's not a day to write about fluff.

I know everyone hurts in their own way and everyone is dealing with something we don't know anything about. I try to keep this in my mind the most when I am teaching. I see about 175 different students each day, and some of them are struggling with things I'll never even know about. Sometimes I think about my job and scare myself with the amount of responsibility I have. Who trusted me with this gig!!??

What's the point of me babbling today? I'm not sure. But one thing that makes me feel better when people are hurting is to do something that will positively affect others each and every day. It doesn't have to be something big. Picking up someone's copies from the copy room to save them a few minutes. Watching someone's class so you can give your colleague a bathroom break. Saving someone at Aldi with a quarter when they forgot their's.

This post was all over the place, but that's all I have today! For everyone who's struggling... hang in there. People care about you.

  2. I cannot even imagine what some people are going through - either having their homes/lives destroyed, or waiting anxiously hoping they will not be next. So sad. Excellent point about helping out - passing along some positive efforts goes a long way!

  3. It has been a rough few weeks! And you are right, we still need to continue to take care of ourselves, and stay strong for those who might need our help.

  4. Some days I feel so bad complaining about stupid stuff because so many people are struggling so much more. Like who cares if I have a running injury when there are much more serious things going on?
