Friday 5: What I Wore to Work This Week!

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, my theme for Friday 5 is:

Hey all! Being back at work means I have to put on "real" clothes. I thought I'd share with you my looks this week. Note: The theme is COMFORT!

Monday ~ ~

I call this look:
"I'm Not Wearing Jeans!"

Okay, the corduroy blazer looks a little rumpled but I swear it looked better in real life.
I got the blazer at Wet Seal in college.

I'm not sure where I got the tank.
The "dress jeggings" are from New York & Co.
They are the kind that have pockets on the back so it's okay if my shirt isn't super long. They are also not skin tight.

See... they're sort of jeans, but they're not!

My new Simply Vera for Kohl's shoes I got this past weekend!
They were $39.99 but I had a 30% coupon. You do the math, I don't feel like it!

Unfortunately, they rubbed the sides of my feet and I was getting band aids from the nurse before my first class started! After I put the band aids on, they felt fine.

 My jewelry...
Necklace, earrings, and bangles from Forever 21.
Ring is from Avon, a hand me down from my mom.

 Oh, and my aviators!

It wasn't until I got to school that I noticed I forgot to take my jacket to the dry cleaner! Somehow, I got blue ink on it at school last year. I don't think it was too noticeable...

Tuesday ~ ~

I call this look:
"My Favorite Freaking Skirt!"

Jean jacket is from Target. It is actually getting a hole in the elbow because I wear it to work so often!
I may need to get a new one soon.

This top is fun because of the frilly details. Hey, they enable me to not wear a bra!
The skirt is from Hollister. I got it about 3 years ago and I freaking love it. It was less than $20 and is soooooo comfortable because the waist is elastic!
Both pieces are cotton and stretchy.

Tan flats from Ross! I love them!
$14.99
Ewwwww look at my veins!!!! What is the deal with that!?

Earrings and necklace from Forever 21.
Bracelet is an heirloom from my mom's Nanny. It is Avon.
The ring is from my Grandma Michael. She got it for me and my cousin Stephanie years ago. I know it is a little "cute" because it says "love" on it, but it's from my GRANDMA so I LOVE IT.

So the sad news is I had to wear this bathrobe at school all day because my classroom was SO COLD! Not many people saw my outfit...

Wednesday ~ ~

I call this look:
"I Feel Like I'm Wearing Pajamas!"

The cream colored sweater is from high school. It is from back when Express was Express Tricot.
In fact, can you even believe a sweater like that was ever sold at Express!? But dang, their clothes were really made well because I wear the sweater all the time and wash it often. It doesn't pill or get fuzzy at all.

This silky, flowy top is so comfortable. I got it at JC Penny several years ago. I always get compliments on it.
The leggings are legit stretchy leggings in a light purple/grey color.

My ugly feet. Half of these toenails do not exist, I just painted the skin.
Can you guess which ones!?
The shoes are Dr. Scholl's.

I keep wearing the same jewelry this week!
The feather earrings and layered necklace are from Forever 21.

Aviatorsssss!

Thursday ~ ~

I call this look:
"I AM wearing jeans!"

Since these jean shorts are long and dark, I figured I could get away with them.
Especially since I wore a nice blouse and dress shoes.
These are the same tan flats from Tuesday, but I will spare you another picture of my veiny feet.
I wore all the same jewelry I have been wearing all week!

Since there were only 4 work days this week, I needed to show you a 5th outfit. This is what I changed into after I was done teaching piano lessons on Thursday night:

My jammy top is an XXL women's shirt from Wal Mart.
My dad got me the pants from a yard sale for $1.
No lie.
What's your favorite look on me?
What look, if any, would you be most likely to wear?

  1. I love this post!
Now that you mention it, I totally remember Express being Express Tricot. Or at least I remember that tag inside my clothes.
I like all your tops! I'm definitely into "comfy" wear to work clothes!

    1. Thanks! I want to do it more often because it's fun. I always enjoy seeing runners in non running clothes.

  2. Now I want to hear more about how you lost your toenails! I have lost 3 toenails, but they all came back, they came back all funky though.

My favorite look on you is the Thursday one, you are rocking that shirt!

I really really need make it point to invest on new shirts for work!

    1. It's kind of gross. I just cut them down so short that eventually I can cut them off. You are sorry you asked, right?

      Go to Ross for shirts!

    1. Thanks, Laura! They are all really comfy to boot. The ones I don't wear in "real" life and only wear to work are Tuesday and Thursdays shirts. They're a little too.. plain for my "real life" taste, which is funny because they aren't really plain at all, are they?

  4. I think I had that same corduroy blazer. When I first looked at it I thought "hey that looks just like a blazer I had a looooong time ago" and then you mentioned Wet Seal and that sounds like somewhere I would have bought it back in the day! I remember it was really comfy. I'm not surprised you hung on to it!

I need to go shopping this weekend for a more corporate-y wardrobe. I wish I had done that last weekend, but if I can get 2-3 new outfits this weekend I can do more shopping next weekend when hopefully my legs feel more up to walking around! I am going to miss the more casual style of dress i got to wear the last five years!

    1. So do you think you will have to wear like suits and button downs now? I know you have some really cute dresses you wore to work. Can you throw a blazer on over those and get some closed toe shoes? We're technically not allowed to wear flip flops to work but we do. Elem. teachers can get away with so much!!!

    2. Not suits and button downs, just nicer dresses I think, and maybe with a few nice blazers. Maybe nicer shoes as well... but IDK if I can try on shoes this weekend since my feet are probably still a little swollen. Then again, I love my ballet flats and not sure I'll ever give them up haha!

  5. I love all your looks--event the robe! I freeze at work, too..just in the summer (they keep our office at like 69 degrees because of all the equipment). I haven't brought a robe, yet, though. It's a great idea!

    1. Oh man I would freeze at 69 too! That day it was 64 in my room. UNACCEPTABLE!!! ;)

    2. O_O omg i would have had to LEAVE! That's what I consider freezing cold, peacoat, scarf and boots temperature!

  6. I love all your outfits but especially Wednesday's! Your last outfit looks like what I wear to work, except my pajama pants were $9 at Dillard's and my shirt was free from a race where I volunteered, haha. I wish I had more corporate-y clothes but working at home and running and working out, I really don't need them and I feel guilty spending a lot of money on dressy clothes that I wear out of the house maybe a few times a month. I do have a few nicer pieces that I wear when I go to the office, but I only go a couple times a year so I don't wear em much. Besides that, I live in race shirts (ones that fit and I don't sleep in) and khaki shorts.

    1. It's interesting that everyone likes Wednesday's the best because that was the absolute most comfortable! I could sleep in that outfit. :) It makes me wish I had that tank in different patterns.

I am sure you hear this a lot, but you are lucky you get to work in your jammies! The perks of working from home. I don't wear jammies for piano lessons, but I do wear sweats and Ts sometimes, so basically the same thing, right? It is so nice to be comfortable.

  7. I like the Monday outfit. I've been buying jeans because my slacks don't fit any more, and it's not like slacks have any give and stretch around my curves. Jeans feel much better, but I don't want to look like I'm wearing jeans all the time.

    1. They have a lot of nice stretchy black pants out there now that aren't leggings. Try NY&CO.

  8. You look very nice all week long! For me, my wardrobe is pretty much black and grey. I think dark grey is a good color on me, and it totally matches black all of the time, so I just switch the tops around! Boring, but when I'm working at a bank 3 days I week it's not a fashion show. They like to be "conservative"! :)
I never heard of Express Tricot. Is that "Express" like "Limited Express"?

    1. Thanks girl! I wear a lot of black in the winter. I guess banking is probably the most conservatively dressed profession these days, don't you think? Express Tricot... it's what the store Express used to be back in the 90s!

  9. They're all cute, but the skirt is very cute (and professional looking).

Me, I pretty much live in leggings, although right now I'm in chinos (because apparently fall has arrived & it's chilly!). But I don't work. Outside the home, anyway.

    1. Thanks! The skirt is very comfortable and I sometimes wear it twice in one week. Leggings are the best.

    1. I know! And you never know how bad it is going to be until you actually wear them for a day, not just trying them on. I used to get sore between my toes when I would put on my flip flips for the first time after not wearing them all winter but not anymore.

  11. I love seeing all your outfits! My office was freezing today and I wore a dress. It was even chilly outside! I think Im in denial that its September 1st but feels like October.
