Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday!

Today... the children come. WISH ME LUCK!

Hopefully, having 10 weeks off in the summer replenished all of my patience. And if it hasn't... then I should probably find another profession!

I was exhausted on Friday morning. I didn't want to get up. I didn't want to run. I didn't want to go to work. But of course I did all of those things!

Me: I don't want to go for a run.
Jelly: I don't want you to go either, Mommy!

Today was my third in-service day of the week. The morning was spent at the high school for a district wide meeting to kick off the school year. The meeting was actually really positive and motivating!

The high school marching band kicked off the meeting. They sounded SO GOOD! I taught some of those students how to play the recorder!!

Then the art/music staff had a department meeting. I'm the only music teacher at my school, so sometimes I feel like I'm on an island. It's always nice to connect with my colleagues at the other schools in our district.

The rest of the day, I worked on lesson plans and getting my room ready. It was actually a really frustrating day because none of the printers in our school were working. I could get into it, but it would be boring. Let's just say it's REALLY hard to have your room ready for students without being able to print anything!

I can't wait to sing this song with my second graders!

Luckily, by the time the bell rang, I felt like my room was completely ready for Monday. Bring on the students!

After work, Paul and I did some major grocery shopping. We hit up Aldi, Giant, and Weis. Guess what? Paul hauled it all into the house and put it away while I RELAXED!

Then we played cards and made dinner. We ate our dinner by candlelight while we listened to Episode 7 of Serial.

Meatball sub or dog food? Hahahaha!

Jelly watched us eat...

Then decided to go to the bathroom literally right next to our romantic dinner.

I was so tired that I didn't go to bed too long after that!

Paul and I started our day with a disc golf/running date at Adventure Park. It was SO FLIPPING HOT OUT. I was sooooo slow. It was a an effort to maintain a 10 minute mile pace. It seriously was not fun at all! But I did 6 miles.

After going home and showering, I hit up Ross and got two deals! Stretchy black dress pant leggings for $11.99 and a flannel tunic for $11.99!

Then I rushed home to start cleaning and cooking. We had friends coming over for dinner and game night!

Joe and Brittany and Bob and Rachel came over for tacos, margaritas, and games. We laughed and laughed! I love our friends!

Oddly, the first thing I did this morning was go SHOPPING. I went to Kohl's, Marshall's, and Bon Ton but I didn't buy anything! I did look at some shoes I am interested in ordering from Kohls.com in a few days when my 30% discount coupon is valid. These are the shoes I want:

They are $34.99 at the store but that's a little much for shoes I simply want.

I didn't get home until noon. I was so hungry that I ate 2.5 bowls of generic multi grain cheerios.

Then I lifted and worked outside for several hours. Yard work is exhausting!

Then I dyed my hair, had some sangria, ate dinner, and went to BED!
Do you have any shoes in that style?
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

    1. I have tried on ones that are comfortable and ones that aren't. The ones at Payless suck!

  2. I don't have any shoes in that style but I actually really want a pair in all white. I used to have a pair in all white that I loved but they got dirty really easily which is why I haven't bought another pair yet. Do I really want to do all that work to keep them clean again?!

I also want to buy a pair of old school Adidas Superstars in all white but same thing... not sure I want to deal with keeping them clean! haha #lazy

Hope your first day back with the students goes smoothly!

    1. I am definitely not a white sneaker girl! I do want white pants but I am always sure I will get them dirty. Paul is really good at cleaning up shoes.

  3. I hope your first day of school goes well! I don't have any shoes in that style, besides running shoes I have Rainbow flip flops and Sperry's and that's basically IT. I'm not a dressy shoe person and it probably has something to do with my wonky feet and my peroneal tendon injury (I try not to wear non-supportive shoes).

I hope you had a great first day back! It sucks that the printers were broken and it was hard to work while you were at school. Maybe all the craziness got out of the way so that today can be peaceful?

    1. I'm really picky about the shoes I wear for long periods of time too. I used to wear high heels to work. Never again! I did see some shoes in this style that were Sperrys! I liked them but they were more spring/summer looking and I was going for a fall look.

Mmm ! Surtido rico cookies are good! I like the coconut ones! I saw Aldi had them, but can't get them because I can't finish them all on my own.

  7. Cute shoes! And fun weekend. I wonder if any of us will ever figure out why some runs are sooo hard. I was in Winter Park for girls' weekend/wine fest. No running which made today's run feel awesome! Hope you had a good first day of school!

  8. Which Ross did you go to? I went to the one in colonial Park /jonestown rtd on Saturday but I didn't get anything. I didn't stay long cus when we walked out the sky got so dark and I think it was getting ready to storm. I dislike shopping to going to 3 grocery stores in one night would be torture, haha. Why do you go to all three?

    1. I was at the one on the Carlisle Pike. I now with I had gotten two pairs of the pants! We don't normally go to three stores. Normally it is just Aldi, but we needed cat litter, so we had to go to Giant. And then neither Aldi or Giant had avocados that were "ready" so it was off to Weis!

    2. We only like a certain kind of peanutbutter so after my normal grocery run I'd have to go to Walmart for it. I hate walmart so now we are adventurous and try other brands..haha
