Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday!

Here's what we were up to this weekend!

It's summer, but that doesn't mean I get to sleep in. Paul gets up at nine and clomps around the kitchen. Then Christmas hops on my stomach and sits on my bladder. It's a tough life.

I went for a wonderful 6 miler and headed to PT. I pretty much told them unless there was something else they think I need to be doing, I'll just do my exercises from home, thankyouverymuch. So I am done with PT and I am so happy. That will save me $360 a month. Omg, I feel sick typing that...

Then I headed to my friend Shawn's house for PUZZLES! We started a cool puzzle of Time Square, but didn't get very far because we were gabbing too much.

I left puzzle time a little early so I could swing by our house, pick up Paul, and drop him off at City Island so he could see a ballgame with his parents. Since I hate sports, I didn't go and just went home to chill with the cats.

I was feeling very unmotivated to do housework, even though I had to clean and do laundry. I managed to run one load of laundry and decided I would clean on Sunday or Monday. But I felt anxiety about it. Why do I feel anxiety in the summer? Humph.

Oh, look what came in the mail!

I've been staying up super late (like 1 or 2 in the morning) reading at night. I've basically been reading one book a night. On this night, I read an amazing book:

These are the books I read previous nights:

I forced myself to get up early (8am) so that I could hopefully get back on a better sleep schedule!

The first thing I did was finish the puzzle that had been sitting on my table since Mother's Day!

By the way, if any local peeps want to borrow any of the puzzles they see here, OR just want to come over and borrow a bunch, FEEL FREE!

Then I POWER CLEANED the music room. I am very proud of myself!

I found 3 cat treats behind the piano.

Next, it was time for a run. It was so hot and humid but I slogged through 7 miles.

Then I headed to my brother's house to celebrate Father's Day with his family and my parents. I taught my nieces the chicken dance and I got a side stitch. Then we jumped on the trampoline. It was so fun!

Ellie made me this beautiful jewelry...

Paul was at a Deftone's concert with friends, so I was basically on my own today. On my way home from my brother's, I made a much needed stop at the grocery store. I fridge is PACKED now!

I was quite productive when I got home. It took awhile to unpack all the groceries. Then I tidied up the house, watered my garden (which is doing AWESOME by the way) and folded laundry. I start feeling guilty in the summer when I have a non productive day, and the truth is, it doesn't take long for me to become a lazy bum in the summer...

My Sunday morning was the morning of an 80 year old... I did a puzzle, ate bran flakes, and then went lap swimming.

Tyler got me a guest pass to his gym so I could try out swimming. I did 1.2 miles! I was doing my stroke wrong for the first 15 laps so my shoulder hurt a bit. Tyler helped me to do it right. He said I improved a lot but I am still crossing over my body too much.

Then my SIL came with the kids for family swim time, so I played with them in the pool.

"Why are you swimming with us Auntie Megan?" Ellie asked.

"Because I don't have kids, but I like to pretend I have kids for an hour or so," I told her.

It was a day filled with swimming because that afternoon I headed over to my friend Katrina's house to bask in the sun and swim. It was so hot out!

When I got home, Paul grilled us some burgers and we drank sangria. He told me about the Deftones concert. Apparently there was a drunk girl trying to get with him! Her name was Megan. What are the odds????

Oh, while I was off swimming all day, Paul planted a tree. It's a blue ice cypress. It's supposed to get really big. I was expecting it to be kind of big already, so when I came home and saw this tiny thing in the yard, I laughed! We're going to take pictures of Paul with his try every month, kind of like women do when they're pregnant. Maybe we will name the tree. I asked Paul what we should name it and he said, "I was actually thinking about that... how about Calvin?"

JELLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you name your trees or any other weird things?

A morning full of puzzles, bran flakes, and swimming: yay or nay?

What were you up to this weekend? I hope all the DADS out there had a happy Father's Day!!!

  1. What a super fun weekend! My bike is named but I haven't named any plants or trees, yet. I had a fun weekend of baseball watching and shopping w/ Rick. It's never long enough, though!

    1. I am all for 3 day weekends. I would totally work 10 hour days for 3 days off. What did you and Rick shop for?

    2. I would love 3 day weekends all the time! I wanted a Colorado baseball cap...which I got and then I also got a cute t-shirt, a shrug/shawl thing and a skirt! Boom, just like that in and out with a few cute things :) I love shopping like that.

  2. My fiance and I have an Anker blue tooth speaker whose name is Paul Anka. I love puzzles and my weekday breakfast is Grape Nuts, so I'm fully down with the 80 year old life!

  3. Megan - I read The Passenger too! I loved it - so well written and such an awesome plot - what did you think of it?
Your nieces and nephew are adorable - they look like little old-fashioned children! have a good day! Kristen

    1. I also loved it! At first I was very confused why she felt she needed to run off after her husband died on the stairs, but obviously they explained that later on. But that was gnawing at me. I figured if she didn't love her husband then him accidentally dying would be GREAT for her. The book made me uncomfortable because just the whole lifestyle she had was so different from what I am used to. I couldn't imagine living in hotels, staying in people's houses when they don't know, spending your days doing basically NOTHING. Even though it made me uncomfortable, I still enjoyed ever second of it!

That is funny I have heard other people say my nieces and nephew look old fashioned too!

  4. Getting up at 8 is getting up early?! Sounds like a lovely morning of sleeping in to me. Want to trade schedules?

    1. No thank you on the trading schedules! I am enjoying my summer and when school starts again it will be back to the 5:15 alarm. I just get in a baaaad habit in the summer staying up super late (like 2) so I was trying to get up at a decent time. Although last night I went to bed at midnight and didntbwake up until my alarm accidentally went off at 10:30. I guess I needed sleep but now I feel lime I slept the day away. :(

  5. I'm so jealous that you got to swim in a nice lap pool! My university had one and it was so much fun. I can't swim worth a crap but I enjoyed dogpaddling in that pool when I was a student. It sounds like your PT experience was the worst ever and I'm glad you're saving your $360 and can use that on something else that will benefit you (like the pool, maybe?). Looks like you had a pretty awesome weekend too.

    1. I was on swim team growing up but it wasn't the kind where they made sure we were using the correct technique. But when Tyler took up tris, he got a swim coach for a couple lessons so he was able to show me how to do it.

It seems like every time I go to PT, I start feeling hopeful and end feeling upset. I don't get it. How many PTs have I been to so far.... 4!!!!!!!!!!

  6. I always look forward to reading your weekend wrap up, is that weird?
I think you pretty much know what I was up to this weekend...lol.

We don't name our trees but we named our car GPS "Miles" and our home security System "Dora" because she always tells us which Door is open in the house! Those names seem fitting for their jobs...haha

    1. NO it's not weird! My wrap ups get the most views, so part of me wonders if I should do more "here's what I did the past couple days" posts!

I really hope you are feeling better!

DORA that is freaking awesome. :)

  7. YOU ARE HILARIOUS! Naming the tree, your 80 year-old woman reference... HA HA! Glad you had such a good weekend!

  8. Since I'm not training at the moment, I'm trying to do one chore each afternoon, and it frees up a bit of time on the weekends. I know once I start training again, I won't want to do chores during the week.

    1. That is a great idea! I find cleaning takes my mind off working out too. Maybe because it is a little bit of a workout and there is that feeling of accomplishment when it is done?

  9. What a fun weekend!! What did you name the tree? Will you have a tree naming party?

We change the names of things... like we change the name of trail mix to Obstacles... because when Roger gets chocolate trailmix, he only eats the chocolaty parts, then refills the chocolate portion. So we call it chocolate with Obstacles, and if there is no chocolate in it, we call it only obstacles.

    1. Paul decided on CLARENCE. I don't like the name, but it's his tree. :) That is hilarious- obviously anything that is NOT chocolate is an obstacle.

  10. Yes, I think the tree looks like a Calvin! I am looking forward to seeing it's progress. Over the weekend Adam's step mom was showing me a money tree in their backyard that is probably 5.5 feet tall now, but she said Adam's dad gave it to her when it was just a little plant she kept on her desk at work!

How did three treats manage to escape the boys? Cecil would never let a treat go untouched. He scarfs them down immediately!

Your new jewelry is beautiful. Layered bracelets like that are so in!

    1. Aw, how long did it take for the money tree to get big? I think I know what those looks like! I wish we were putting in another corkscrew willow. We have one in our backyard and we basically planted a STICK. Now, 9 years later, it is HUGE!! Way taller than our house! We should actually try to trim it...

It is weird that the treats went unnoticed because sometimes they DO camp out by the piano when they smell one under there. Maybe these were old and stale, though I doubt they would mind.

    2. Hmmm I think it's probably 10 years old now or close to it. That's so cool that your willow was a stick and is now bigger than the house. Someday I want to have a yard where I can plant my own trees, including fruit trees! A neighbor down the street has a mango tree that I'm really jealous of!

  11. You're hilarious!!! Swimming was great! It didn't hurt my knee or my hip at all. But my shoulder hurts a little from it so we will see.
