Something I forgot to tell you, an ugly dress, and a SCORE!

I just got some RANDOM stuff for you today...

Something I forgot to tell you about!

Two weekends ago, when Debby and I were driving to the AT to hike, I slowed down a little to abruptly to make a turn. But when I slowed down, I ended up having to completely stop because the turn was right at the crest of a hill and there was absolutely no way to tell whether a car was coming or not! (For local folks, it's turning right onto Deer Lane off Wertzville Road.)

There was a car behind me who was driving too close to me. When I stopped to wait to make sure I could turn, he somehow swerved to the side and missed me. It was a CLOSE CALL!!!!

Technically it was the other driver's fault as he was the one behind me, but I did stop pretty abruptly.

After I made my turn, I pulled over and rolled down my window.

"Are you okay?" I called over to the driver.

He was a young guy in a nice car and he looked a little shaken up. He assured me he was okay and said, "I didn't hit your car." I triple checked to be sure he was okay. He didn't seem mad or annoyed at all. I drove off, but in my rear view mirror, I saw him get out of his car to inspect the front of it.

Of course I felt terrible, but Debby and I were able to put it past us and go on to enjoy our hike.

The next day when leaving work, I noticed that indeed he DID swipe the back of my car! We did not feel any impact, but he definitely swiped it.

The white stuff is smudge that can wipe off but but the black is paint that chipped off. There are no dents.

I really hope that kids' car is okay. It is a lot nicer than mine!

An Ugly Dress

I was putzing around Ross the other day and I found what looked to be a possibly cute dress. BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!!!

I swear, it looked way better on the hanger!

SCORE!

I did find one good deal at Ross, though. I've been kicking around the idea of lap swimming this summer but I didn't have a one piece bathing suit. I found a Speedo suit at Ross for $8.99. It fits perfectly!

ORIGINAL PRICE $74!????

Did anyone ever rear end you are swipe your car?
Do you own a one piece?
Tell me something random!

  1. Ugh..that is scary and yes, I have been a hit a few times in my car. Thankfully all while going slowly (stop signs, parking lots, etc). I'm glad you are all OK. I own a few one piece suits to swim in. Bikinis for the beach. I am so excited you want to try swimming! I slack off on swimming in the summer (because I can cycle outside) but I make up for it in the winter when I go 2 x per week due to snow!

    1. How many miles do you normally cycle? How far do you swim?

  2. Thats so annoying about the car, but Im glad no one was hurt! A few years ago someone swiped my car in a parking lot. Luckily it was so old and battered already that it wasnt really noticeable.

    1. I'm glad we weren't hurt either! It could have been bad and then Debby would never go hiking with me again because I got us into an accident!

  3. Holy cow $74 for a one piece bathing suit that's pretty much all black? I hope it's the highest quality material ever and that you got the steal of the century getting it at under $10!

That's a bummer about your car getting a scratch. I have a scratch on the back of my car that looks similar in about the exact same spot. I wasn't in an accident but I was parked in a big parking lot shared by two different companies. One of the companies decided to put up a chain link to separate the two lots and it was way too close to my car. In order to back out and leave the parking lot I had to press my car into the chain link. I was hoping if I did it gently enough it wouldn't leave a mark but it did. Oh well.

    1. Haha I hope so too! I guess you have to pay a lot of money for the name "speedo". But it is very comfortable. When I swim laps I like a really tight suit but I don't want it riding or digging anywhere. This suit feels just like my old swimteam suits.

Bummer about your car and the chain!

  4. Awesome deal on the swimsuit! I once had a guy back into my car. It did leave marks and the guy basically paid me $100 cash on the spot to just drive away and act like it never happened. My car was super old and I was very shaken up but I was glad to have the $100. I love your new swimsuit and it was a GREAT deal too!

    1. Wow $100 cash! I guess that was better for him than insurance getting involved. Were you able to fix your car or did you not care because it was already old? I am probably not fixing mine. It's just a little paint.

  5. First of all--holy crap about the price of that swimsuit! I buy those for Katie and I spend nearly $100 on them once the tax is all tallied up. NICE FIND! That really sucks about the car. :(

    1. Oh man, do they have a "specific* suit you have to buy or can you look around for deals?

  6. One time a guy fell asleep at the wheel while we were waiting at a traffic light in the morning. He slightly dented my bumper, but I was never able to track him down to pay for it! (back before cell phones cameras!). Luckily it was a Saturn so no metal to rust, and I never got it fixed.
Funny about that dress - I see that style dress all of the time and when I put them on I look like I'm wearing some sort of cleaning lady outfit! I definitely need something that fits to my shape in order to look good on me. Also, I have a weird thing about wearing "shapeless" clothes ever since I had kids - I think they all look like maternity clothes on me so I avoid them!!

    1. What a rude guy! Did he know he hit you?

I agree, shapeless stuff is not flattering on me either... clearly!!!

  7. Oh man, I'm so sorry about your car! Will you get it fixed?
I was leaving work for Christmas break one year (when I worked at the University) and a college student ( who I think was on her phone) rear ended me and I ended up rear ending the SUV in front of me as we were all stopped at a stop sign. Luckily I didn't do much damage to the lady in front of me and she was totally understanding but my poor car was totaled. I was SO mad because I had to go through all that for something that wasn't even my fault! I really liked that car and would probably still had it today. I'm glad everyone involved in your situation was okay.

    1. I don't think I will get it fixed, it's just a little paint and I don't care about it too much.

That is crazy how a car can be totaled just from an accident like yours. I'm glad you were okay, but I have been there before when someone totaled my car and I had a REALLY good interest rate on my loan for it... and I had to get a new car but it had a higher interest rate. So pissed. It's a lot of work.

  8. I really want to ask the clothing industry why shoulders all of a sudden are out of fashion. I can't wear shoulder-less shirts and dresses to work!

    1. Oh I can't wear shoulderless to work either! Well, I don't think I can, I never really asked. I did buy one shoulderless shirt this season. It is casual with flowers on it, loose fitting, and very cute with jean shorts! Definitely not work appropriate though because this particular one has slits up the side where you can see some skin!

  9. A few years back, Megan and I were on the way to school. She was not licensed yet so I was driving. We came to the bottom of a hill and traffic was stopped. We were about third in line and about four cars stopped behind us. I heard the sound of screeching tires and I told Megan to hang on. She looked at me like "What?" and then we heard a succession of crashing sounds and then we got a good hard bump from behind. A car was going too fast, came around a curve and by the time the driver realized she needed to stop, it was too late. She totaled her car and damaged four cars ahead of her. Megan was fascinated that I recognized that we were about to get hit and that even though we were doing everything right, we were in an accident. Great lesson for her. Yes, I do own a one piece for swimming laps. I have tried on many things that look good on the rack but look like crap on my scrawny body :)

    1. I'm glad you and Megan were okay! Yes, that is a good lesson for her to learn. Especially to be VIGILANT and aware what is going on around you.

  10. I used to own a 1970 Pontiac firebird. It was so low to the ground that if I was in someone's blind spot, they never saw me. There were 4 separate times when other cars merged right into me. The first time I got the bird repaired; the next three times I saved the money for a downpayment on my next car!

As for your ding - just get it buffed out. That should hopefully take care of most of the damage.
