A Day In My Life: My last day of work!

Tuesday was my last day of work!
Here's what I was up to...

My alarm went off at 5:30 and I wasn't sure what I was going to do for a workout. Since my groin still hurt a little (but much better than yesterday) I figured I'd lift at home. I lifted back (heavy stuff!) and did all of my PT exercises. Chrissy helped!

Then it was off to work! The first couple hours were just spent alone at my desk, sipping coffee, making sure my was in order and I had everything I needed to take home so I wouldn't have to come back during the summer.

At 10:30 there was a district wide meeting at the high school. We reflected on the year as well as recognized the teachers in our district who have been teaching 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, even 40 years in some cases!

Dang, call me a slacker if you want, but I am hoping to do 30-35 years and then be OUTTA HERE.

I spent my lunch running errands. First, I went to Party City to pick up some decorations for my friend's bachelorette party!

I will also be getting penis straws,
but surprise, surprise, they don't have those
at Party City!

Then I headed to Giant for some odds and ends. It was a busy lunch but I got it all done in just a little over an hour. Oh duh, I did get lunch too!

Get in my belly!

Then it was back to my building for just a few more hours of sitting alone in my classroom. We got dismissed 1 hour early due to the fact that the district "owed" us an hour from the evening we came to school for my musical and it getting smoked out.

 Smell ya later!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was very surreal to not only get out of work early, but to be done for the SUMMER! What's a gal to do with the newfound freedom?

Well, first I headed to the mall to get my eyebrow and lip waxed. I want to look good for when I meet Nancy Grace at CrimeCon.

Today, the eyebrows HURT and my eyes watered like mad.
Do you like my bright red "mustache"?
And what the hell is going on with my hair!? I hope it didn't look like that all day!

I needed some new tanks and short sleeves for summer, so I stopped in Aeropostale. I know that is a "young" store but there are some basic pieces in there that someone my age can wear... Like these two short sleeve v-necks I got for $5 each!

There was one impulse purchase, this cute layered necklace for just $3.99! I love cute, inexpensive jewelry!

Then I went home and taught two piano lessons. That gave me some extra spending money to go out for dinner and drinks at Duke's with this fun gal!!!

If you're not already reading Ana's blog, you should hop over there right now! She writes the best race recaps and she covers topics other than running, which I appreciate. Especially because I always learn something from her!

Ana and I laughed and chatted for 3 hours and nearly close the place down. I housed 3 angus beef sliders. They were delish.

When I got home, I finally got to catch up with Paul! He had been gone overnight at a Tool concert in Pittsburgh with his friends. Tool is one of his favorite bands and they apparently had awesome seats. It was fun to hear about his adventures!

I fell asleep researching a new murder case... more on that later!

And that was my last day of work!

Tomorrow I am headed to CRIMECON so if I am MIA for a little bit, that's why. Don't worry, I have posts scheduled so you can get your daily dose of Meg Go Run!
Are you a Tool fan?
Do you wax anything?
Any bachelorette part tips!?

  1. I cant believe the school is over for you! This year seemed to go so fast. School here ends next Tuesday but that doesn't mean anything for me...in fact now summer is my busier time of year. Enjoy your time off!

  2. Kudos to you for striving for 30 years of service! I'm striving for for 20...lol!

I don't now why the end of the school year seems so "magical" but it does! We have a "short" summer this year because we will start back in August instead of September, but I hear we are done by Memorial day next year so I guess it's a good trade off???? Have fun at Crime Con!

    1. It sure does! Our summer will be normal length. We always go back mid Aug... which makes Aug the longest Sunday night ever. Let's not talk about it! I'm only on Day 2! ;)

  3. Oh God, I can barely stand to read this post. I won't be writing anything titled "My last day of work" for probably at least 25 more years!!!! I wonder if we'll still be blogging then? It's so hard to imagine!

It sounds like you have many fun things planned for this summer and I'm sure the break is well deserved! I am looking forward to having a couple days off here and there over the next two months, especially four days in a row for 4th of July! I have to tell you about something with regards to time off in messenger though.

  4. I LOVE Tool! I really liked them when I was younger, but don't listen to them as much now. But they are really fun to run to!
I wax everything! I am a good Scottish lass who has hair everywhere and if I didn't take care of it, I would be one hairy lady!
    have fun at CrimeCon!! Kristen

  7. It looks like a great day! I am totally with you on retiring after awhile and not working forever. I want to enjoy my golden years, maybe have kids and grandkids or volunteer more.

Our Aeropostales closed and it made me sad because they have the BEST khaki pants.

I hope you have an awesome time at Crime Con and happy summer!
