Weekly Workouts

I ran... 11 miles!? Yup. Only 11.
2 forty minute spin sessions.
2 lifting sessions.
3 PT appointments.
1 rest day.

Saturday- Epic lifting session @ Planet Fitness w/ PT exercises. The FOULEST smelling dude was there. He smelled like an onions sub.

Sunday- Rest & PT exercises. I was in such a crappy mood and I didn't feel like doing anything. It was the worst I felt in quite a long time. I almost didn't do my PT exercises but I'm glad I did them

Monday- 6 miles in the morning & PT appointment. It was cold and I had to wear a fleece vest and gloves! My adductor started bothering me at mile four, which was super annoying. I'm gonna rest it a couple days. Maybe one of my PT exercises is aggravating it?

Tuesday- Lifting chest & PT exercises. I also did burpees and mountain climbers- exercises I haven't done in such a long time! The tape on my knee makes it feel so strong, so I figured I'd try some activities that normally bother it. I'm happy to say it held up well throughout the day! My adductor was pretty sore... not sure why because I didn't run! I am starting to think something PT related aggravated it. Clam shells perhaps?

Wednesday- 5 mile run & PT appointment. My adductor started hurting at mile four, so I called it quits at mile five and ended up walking 2 miles. My goodness, with my body, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Thursday- SPINNING!!! Can you believe it??? I haven't been on my spin bike in years due to my knee. It felt strong the whole grueling 40 minute workout, but it was a *little* tender under my patella about 12 hours later. Do you think it's weird it took 12 hours? Or do you think it's unrelated?

Friday- SPINNING & PT appt. I did the same 40 minute workout. Knee hurt under the kneecap later on in the day. Yup, gotta be spinning related. I guess I am not meant to be a spinner!

Do you spin? My undercarriage hurts!

  1. Wow, girl...spinning! Haven't seen that, um...ever. But bummer that it hurts your knee. Did you talk to your PT about it? What about your adductor? Did he have thoughts on what may be causing that? I kind of want to get a spin bike. I have a bike on a trainer but the bike is really quite old so I either replace that or get a spin bike. Maybe I would cycle more in the winter. As it is now, I pretty much don't cycle for a good 4 months of the year since I can't do it outside. What kind do you have? Do you like it?

    1. I used to post about swimming WAY BACK in the beginning of my blog, probably before you read it. I have no clue what is going on with my adductor. I didn't tell my PT about it. I feel like he is already treating two things going on with me and I don't want to bother him with something else! Maybe it is because I can't stretch my hips right now due to my pinched nerve? We love out spin bike. I put a lot of miles on it back in the day and Paul has started using it these last couple months. I will go check what kind it is once Jelly is off my lap. He is asleep purring and I can't get up! But I will send you a link on Amazon of exactly what we got. We do like it. It's not as good as one you would ride in spin class, obviously, but we have thousands of miles on it and we only had to replace the resistance band thingy on it once. And I actually think the company replaced that free of charge!

  2. I don't do spinning. I have a friend who swears by it, but I'm a one-trick pony. I just run. Well, I do yoga and lift but I don't really think that's so much cross training (I think of cross training as things like spinning that take the place of running). I did spin when I was injured a few years ago and it kept me in decent shape. It's neat you actually OWN a spin bike though! I hope your little aches and pains will go away and that you can run, lift, and do whatever you want without any discomfort, and soon!

    1. Thanks girl! IF it's not one thing, it's another. And you know me.... I like to err on the side of caution. Spinning used to not bother me and I took spin classes at the YMCA all the time. I think it is a REALLY good workout. I was absolutely exhausted and I hadn't felt that way from running in such a long time since I haven't been pushing myself.

  3. I only ever took one spin class at the gym cuz my sister was teaching it. NEVER again! I did not enjoy it but then maybe it was just the instructor....haha. Let's just say I didn't always "turn it up". I do have my Nordic track exercise bike that I ride here at home but I haven't been on it since Inran the NYC half.
I hope the thing with your knee heals up. Isn't that usually called Runners Knee when it aches in that area?

    1. I'm not sure what it's called. I know the under the knee thing is usually called runners knee but it only hurts there when I spin, not run. Spinners knee!

  4. I really want to try spin!!! I wish I lived near you so I could borrow your bike as I am such a baby and am too afraid to go to class. Well, Barbara has been to spin class and said she will go with me next time she visits. Maybe after that I'll have the courage to go on my own! I tried to get Adam to take spin with me but he's not interested haha.
