MGR's Weekly Workouts

I decided I am going to keep track of how many miles I run each week so at the end of the year it's easier to add up!

This week I did 35 miles.

My goal is to generally run anywhere between 25-40 miles per week as long as I am feeling healthy. There's no need to run 40 miles on the reg. Not like I do that on the reg anyway...

Saturday- 9 mountain miles with my Daddio. This run was awesome. Running through the mountains with my dad was a great way to end the year. He pushed me hard. We powered up the mountain and pushed the pace on the rail trail on the way back into town. When I was done, I felt like I had worked harder than I had in several months. Let's face it, I have been just running for "fun" for awhile now. This was tough and it felt good. My quads were sore the next day.

Sunday- 6 miles in my hood. I ventured out into new areas for something different. Today was the first day of my period (HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!) so I basically felt like I had taken two sleeping pills. My body didn't hurt I was just fatigued. I got it done.

Monday- Lifting upper body at home. Pull ups, push ups, all that stuff! I also did some "light cardio"... I put away all my Christmas decorations! It was sad. It took me about 3.5 hours. CRAZY!

Sometimes I take a picture after lifting and realize I have made some great gains! This is what I mean by "swole"!

Tuesday- 7 morning miles. It was back to work today after ten days off.

Wednesday- 7 more morning miles. I found a new murder podcast called My Favorite Murder and I'm trying to decide if I like it. Yes, listening to murder podcasts while running in the dark scares me!

Thursday-  Lifting at home. My left hammy or crotch (I couldn't tell which) was sore for some reason. I decided it would be a good day to lift.

Friday- 6 morning miles. There was a dusting of snow on the ground, but surprisingly the plows made a path for me. It was not slippy as long as I stuck to certain roads. You guys KNOW I DO NOT RUN IN SLIPPY CONDITIONS. I wanted to do 7 miles but decided not to push it. As soon as I was done with my run I remembered there was a race on Saturday (today) that I was thinking about doing. Oops. Normally I would taper before a race...
How were your workouts this week?

  2. Did you end up racing today?!? Girl, I wanna know how it went. So, I ran Sat - Tues (who am I!?!) which is crazy because I never run 4 days in a row but I knew the storm was coming and it did. Wednesday I went out snow trekking (as I like to call it) with my new poles, Thursday I took a rest day, Friday I swam and today I went to the indoor track at the rec center (I wish they would turn down the heat in that place). It was not the best because I would rather be outside but I couldn't even go trekking because it was -5 and even I won't go out in that (although, back in my 20's I would have). I am counting down to next week when the streets have cleared enough to run outside again!

    3. Girl, snap me! I am so proud of you. My friend is a BAD ASS!! Yeah -5 is insane but back in the day, I did it. I think even as recent as 2 years ago, I went out when it was -3. I have this sinus thing going on + the lovely shingles so I am trying to just be smart and not push myself too much!
