Friday 5!

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I thought I'd share 5 pictures from Christmas past!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!

1985- I was 3 years old!
On our tree hung handmade ornaments and strings of popcorn. My mom has always been crafty!
Around the tree was a train with a light up chicken coop and an engine that had steam coming out of the smoke stack!
Fire hazard????

1988. I was destined to be a singer! I loved that microphone.
I'd put my mouth right up against it and the foam would get wet.
Kids are so gross.
Wasn't my dad's hair epic?

 1985.
If you look closely, you will see I'm holding Thundercat action figures!

 1988 in the Capitol Rotunda.
Why did Julian have on pants and shorts?
I can't believe I was wearing jeans. I hated jeans but I do remember I had two pairs when I was in first grade. After that, I didn't wear jeans again until high school.
I still don't wear jeans a lot because I don't find them comfortable.

1989- THE BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER! I had some fun times on that bike.
Did you ever get a bike for Christmas?
Were you into Barbies?
Did you watch Thundercats?

  1. I love, love, love those pictures! I could look at old pictures forever--they bring back memories and often times you think "um, what the hell were were thinking"? I was into Barbies but more into dolls, I would say. One year I got this really big, portable chalkboard--such a memorable gift and used so much because I really wanted to be a teacher (and spent hours teaching a "classroom" of my dolls). The shorts over pants...LOL. I saw a guy out jogging wearing shorts over sweats. Dude, why?!? P.S. I didn't know you hated jeans? OMG, since I was a kid I have pretty much worn jeans like every day. I find them so comfortable and easy to "dress up" or "dress down" depending on the day. I guess I just learned something new about you!

    1. I liked to play school too! I had a chalkboard but it wasn't too big.

Me not liking jeans is like A BIG FACTOR about me. I think we are closer now that you know this about me. :) I just don't find them comfortable. But then again, I go for the tight, fashionable jeans, not the relaxed comfortable ones. I have one pair that are pretty comfy and fashionable, but I would never wear them around the house. They are for "going places"... and not just the store!

    2. I have all kinds of jeans depending on the day--I love how skinny jeans feel but I don't always love how they look. I try to stay away from anything baggy because even though they are comfy, they really are not flattering.

  2. I love seeing these old pictures! I always question the styles from the 80s and pictures like this just really make me laugh.

    1. I think they 80s were definitely the ugliest as far as fashion, hair, AND makeup!

  3. My mom didn't take a ton of pictures when I was little--seriously. But the ones I have just crack me up! LOL!

    1. P.S will you and Paul be making a Christmas recording this year? I played the one from a few years ago the other night and Scott even mentioned how good you two are at singing! The ones I played were "Baby it's cold outside" and the sound of music one ( I know I won't spell it right so i'm not gonna try..lol)

    1. I was never scared by Thundercats. My dad actually made us a big pyramid to keep all of our Thundercats in and to play with. I wonder what ever happened to that???

Yes Tyler looks like his daughters for sure! Especially Clementine.

  7. Awwww what lovely pictures! I can feel the happiness from everyone radiating through them.

I didn't like Barbies because I thought they were boring. I would usually try to give them a haircut just to have something to do with them, but obviously it's really hard to give Barbie a nice haircut with her plastic head and straw like hair. I would get frustrated and then just make her bald. Then I would throw her away (so cruel), and start over with a new one. My mom got me the Barbie with the replaceable hair thinking that would help but it didn't. I hated the velcro strip you used to attach the hair. It gave her a huge bump in her hair! So I had to cut all the hair off again! Thinking back on all of this is actually making me feel just as frustrated as I felt when I was a kid HAHHA!

The best toy I received as a kid was an electronic puppy that had a leash and legs that moved so you could walk him. I wanted a dog soooooo badly so walking this fake dog was really fun for me since my parents wouldn't allow me to have a real dog!

    1. LOL it sounds like a lot of your Barbie frustration has been repressed, but now it feels good to let it out! It is Festivus, after all, a day to air your grievances!

The reason I liked Barbies was because I liked to dress them and then "play" with them. I would make them talk. Who the hell knows what I had them talk about??? I never EVER cut their hair! The thought hadn't even crossed my mind as a child...

  9. I got a bike! A few bikes actually, as a kid. I don't remember watching Thundercats though, I was mainly into girly cartoons and maybe that was after my time since I was born in 85. I didn't like jeans either for a long time, and I wore them a lot in college and for work at corporate, but now that I work from home I hate jeans and only have one pair that fits right. I wear my khaki pants or dressy pants, or either yoga pants/"athleisure" ;). But since I live in Charleston, I mostly wear khaki shorts and race shirts.

I need to go home and look up old family photos from Christmas. I had some really stellar Christmas memories growing up!

    1. I would love to see some of your old Christmas photos! I think you may have missed the Thundercats phenomenon. Did you like Jem? My Little Pony? I loved both of those.

At my school, teachers can wear jeans on dress down days but I never wear jeans because my leggings/dresses or leggings/tunics are way more comfy than jeans.

  14. These old photos are AMAZING!!!! There is nothing quite like 80s and 90s toys/clothes/styles. Even the rooms in the background scream 80s! We had this wallpaper in our living room that was like...yarn? Like really soft cloth with seams down it. It was the weirdest thing. We would peel parts of it off when we were bored. Ugh.

Christmas Eve is often really stressful for me because we spend ALL day at Matt's mom's and then spend ALL Christmas at his dad's, but this year we did Hanukkah on Christmas Eve with my family (because it was the first night) so we split Christmas day between his parents and it made life SO much easier. I hope we do it again next year! It made me anxiety 100x better.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday!!

    1. Our wallpaper was peeling too! I do remember picking at it. I am sure I wasn't supposed to do that!

I am glad your Hanukkah, Christmas Eve, and Christmas were less stressful than usual! We do the double house thing each of those nights too and I never want to leave! I know we have to so we can see all of our family, but I wish we could stretch Christmas out to four days so we could spend an entire day with each side of the fam!
