Weekend Wrap Up!

Yo yo yo!!!
It's Paul's B-day!
Happy Birthday to the nicest, funniest dude I know!

Friday was my birthday and Paul made it extremely special! He surprised me in the morning with a Keurig! "I'm not worthy," I told him. "Oh, you're so freaking worthy," Paul assured me!

I know my hair looks darker. I dyed it the day before so I wouldn't have grays on my b-day.

Oh, I vlogged about it in case you missed it!

He also got himself me a ton of candy AND a new batch of framed pictures from Colorado we hung on our vacation wall.

To celebrate my big day, we headed to my home town of Millersburg to relax at the community pool. Buuuuut it started raining as soon as we hit the road and it continued the whole way there. I even had to pull over twice to wait for the rain to die down and had to carefully make my way through some standing water from flash flooding. Not fun.

Instead of hanging at the pool, we decided to visit my Grandma in Millersburg. We had a great time visiting and listening to her stories. She does puzzles (just like me) and she told me sometimes when she closes her eyes to go to sleep she sees puzzle pieces. "ME TOO!!!" I exclaimed. Does this happen to anyone else?

As we jumped in the car to head to my parent's house (a couple blocks away), we discovered my car wouldn't start and my keys were stuck in my ignition. Paul and I tried everything but couldn't get the keys out or the car to start. To make a long story short, I will tell you my dad saved us by discovering the battery was dead and getting someone to jump my car.

I may be 34 but I still need my Daddio!!!!!

Then my parents took us out to dinner on the porch at Swing. I had boneless wings, sweet potato fries, and sangria. Can you think of a more perfect birthday meal?

My mom gave us a huge zuke. Of course I had to have a little fun with it!

I slept in very late on Saturday but made up for my laziness by running 6 miles in the soupy weather. When I say soup, I mean the air was hot and thick. Then I lifted chest at the gym with Paul.

That evening we had some cat sitting to do! Here is cute little BOT! (Brienne of Tarth)

BOT drinks Fiji water, which I think is just excellent!!!!

After cat sitting, we met our friend Lauren for hibachi at Tokyo Diner! We talked for so long that we closed the place down. When we walked out of the restaurant, there were fireworks going off at the navy depot! It was perfect!

Fun Fact: I got carded at the state store today! I go to the store a lot and I get carded there maybe like... twice a year? Never during the school year. I look too haggard during the school year.

Even though I was up very late Saturday night, I had to get up early to go see little BOT again. Boy was she a ball of energy and she woke me up!!!

Since I had a slight pain in my ass for the past couple days I decided to rest instead of run 15 miles. Yeah. Not good. I am hoping to do it tomorrow or Tuesday. We will see. Or I'll just say "eff the marathon!" and not do it. Ugh. I have problems, guys...

I took a rest day because I didn't really feel like lifting. Instead I cleaned the house and did some power weeding. I even chopped off part of my neighbor's push that was growing into our yard. I wonder if he will care? Oh well.

That evening we went to see The Oxymorons improv group at ABC. They are hilarious and the show was extra good that night!

Does your dad still have to bail you out now and then?
Does your pet drink special water?
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!
Go see The Oxymorons!!!!

  1. You had a really exciting weekend! Stinks about the keys getting stuck in the car and the battery dying... my old car used to have problems like that all the time and I was glad to get a new car. Hooray for getting carded too, that always makes me feel really good (maybe the hair dye helps?).

    1. Oh yes, the hair dye definitely helps, as well as the overall happiness that washes over my face when I have an extrended time off work. :)

I think I left my high beams on. :( But I really don't remember even PUTTING them on. I hope that is what happened because it would be nice if it was just my error and there's not something wrong with my car/battery.

  3. Happy bday Paul!

Congrats on your new baby, Zuke. S/he's beautiful.

BOT is adorable! My mom gives her cat bottled water too, but when he stayed with us for a few days I gave him filtered water from the fridge.

I can see why you got carded! I would have carded you too!

    1. Aw shucks thanks Kristina. :) I did feel pretty awesome getting carded and I will tell that story until I get carded again. When I handed the clerk (who was anywhere between 50-60) my license I said, "I turned 34 yesterday." and he goes "Wow, you look GREAT for 34 and my wife would say so too!" Hahaha. Actually, looking at the situation objectively, I DO sometimes look young but there are times I look every bit (if not more) than my 34 years.

Our cats drink water from our brita pitcher.

    2. It's so funny that we all avoid giving the cats tap water! I never see Cecil drinking any water but I see food dibris in his bowl at the end of the day so I know he must!

  4. I'm 31 and I still call my dad if stuff like that happens, and he's not even in Texas. I have Triple A for a reason.

    1. I have AAA too but since my dad only lived 2 min from where my car was, I figured he could look it over first before I started the whole AAA fiasco that would probably take 2 hours!

  5. Happy Birthday to you and your husband! I think it is cool that you share a birthday month :)
I had to cat sit for my dad and stepmom last week---the cats only get water from the water cooler!!

  7. Happy Birthday to Paul! it has been birthday weekend in your house!! Lots of celebrations all around! Yums!! Sangria!

Congratulations! It's a Zuke!! I hope you enjoy it!

That is so awesome that your dad helped rescue you and your car! Last time my battery died, I abandoned my car and ran home. Fun fact: My zumba studio is only 4 miles from my place! Another fun fact: I now know that a Toyota Prius has the batter in its butt, not in it's mouth, like a normal car.

  8. I wish I could go see the Oxymorons! We go to Theatre Sports in Vancouver sometimes and it's one of our favourite things to do ever. I love improv! I'm glad you had such a great birthday! Crappy about the car. I always do stuff like that.

  10. Yep my dad still has to bail out both me and my sister. He is always the first one we call, especially with car issues, and he's like "don't you both have husbands/boyfriends"? But of course he still helps. Happy birthday to Paul!

    1. It just goes to show that they must have been good dads that we could always depend on. The fact that we know we can call them to help us means they must have always been there for us. :)

  12. The zucchini pictures are my favorite thing ever. So funny.

I still expect my dad to bail me out on car stuff, even though we live 6.5 hours apart. The other day, I texted him, "My air conditioner sounds funny" and fully expected that he could tell me what was wrong with just that information. He couldn't, of course... but figured it out after a few more details! Dads are the best.

    1. I think my dad thought I was crazy when I started posing with the zuke like that but I KNOW WHAT MY READERS WANT!!! :)

Dad's certainly are the best! And like I said to Lisa, the fact that they're the ones we call means we are just used to them being awesome dads and always being there for us! :)
