7 More Miles

I recently decided I need to RUN MORE. On Tuesday, I focused more on time than mileage. I ran for an hour, but kept going for a few more minutes to bring myself to 7 miles. It was so hot out and the whole run basically sucked.

The good news about such a sucky run is that the next one just had to be better! So I decided to tackle another 7 miles on Wednesday morning. If at all possible, I wanted to get it done early before it was too stickin' hot out.

Somehow, I managed to drag myself out of bed at 6:28 and I was on the road by 6:50. It wasn't cool out by any means, but it was at least twenty degrees cooler than it was the day before! Because of the vastly different temperature, I was able to finish the 7 miles at a pace almost 30 seconds faster than the day before.

The entire run was much more enjoyable. My knee felt strong the entire run and it did not ache the rest of the day. My glutes felt a little tight afterward so I did mucho stretching while watching the ladies cackle on The View.

I ran more miles these past two days than I did all last week! Don't worry, tomorrow I plan to lift upper body so my legs will get a rest. But the day after that, I think I will tackle at least 5 miles!

Operation RUN MORE is in full effect!

Do you get up early and beat the heat, or do you sleep in like I usually do?
What's on your workout agenda today?

  2. Yay for a better run! I need to get out and beat the heat. Although this week has been a nice break- I only ran 3 miles on Wednesday and I will probably do about 5 tomorrow. If its this hot next week the first week of marathon training is gonna be rough!

    1. I hope it cools down for you then. The good news is I saw Candy Corn Hershey Bars at Dollar General yesterday so that means fall weather has to be right around the corner... ;)

  3. :) :) :) so happy that this one went much better - the heat sucks!

I WANT to get up early and beat the heat but I love sleeping in too much so I end up running in the evening or on the treadmill. Today is a total rest day for me before ramping up for 18 miles this weekend (5 + 13)!

  4. Fist pump to a better run. :)

Today is supposed to be a rest day but I'm going to the gym because I basically rested on my entire vacation other than the race, lol.

I 'say' I'm going to get up early to beat the heat, it never happens.

    1. I guess so. Apparently it's mind over matter? I am still so confused about all of that!

  6. I woke up at 5:45 this morning to run and it's already 7 and I haven't left the house yet. Oops! Operation procrastination. Good job at getting these runs done. I'm proud of you! Enjoy the rest for your leggies tomorrow!

  7. I'm always up early. It's not even by choice. My body just wakes up, no matter what. When does school start for you? Early days are good ways of easing back into the schedule, right?

    1. As summer goes on, I end up staying up later and later, thus sleeping in later and later. Last night I went to bed after 5:00am and today I slept until noon! Aug 17th is when I start. Damn, no more staying up until 5am, I will have to GET UP at 5am!

  8. Congrats on your mileage. I should start getting up earlier to beat the heat but I'm that foolish one running and noon so I can't sleep in. During the run I wonder why I do that to myself.

  10. I'm glad you're running more and that your second 7 miles was so much better! It's funny what a difference temperature makes. I need to start getting up at 5:30 for my runs...But we'll see if I'm able to discipline myself to actually do that!

    1. I can't imagine getting up that early during the summer but I suppose that is the reality of living in FL! I went for my run at 8am today and it was already horrible!

  11. The heat will be gone soon and we will be complaining of the cold! I am making progress in the fact that I am making myself complete the run, even if it sucks!
