Joyous Christmas, Blogland! I hope your day is merry and bright! Paul and I want to wish you the happiest of holidays! We recorded a special gift for you...

I'm not sure Edelweiss as a traditional Christmas song, but there is a story to this one. Paul's grandfather- "Bubba", passed away this year. His favorite song was Edelweiss from The Sound of Music. I wish we had recorded this a year ago so he could have heard it. We listened to it with his family last night and we hope you enjoy it as well!

Love, Megan & Paul

ps. Did you miss last year's recording of Baby It's Cold Outside? Check it out here! Bubba did get to hear that one!

    1. Thank you! I can't wait to hear your uke song! I got one for Christmas! Paul has to string it up, tune it, and then I have to learn how to play it hahaha!

    2. I just had to listen to that song again! Man so good! I've seen the sing a long sound of music many times at the Hollywood Bowl and when this song comes on people hold up their cell phones and I nearly cry it's so beautiful. Did you get a soprano uke? I hope you love it as much as I do!! I learning some finger picking right now from some free lessons on the internet. It's tough! BTW did you take voice lessons growing up? I wish my voice sounded better! You're amazing!

    3. Thank you so much, I am glad you enjoy the song. :) I agree Edelweiss is so beautiful. I am not a Sound of Music fan, but I do like this particular song. I think I got a soprano uke- it's pretty small. Paul is downstairs stringing it right now hehehe. I plan to learn off of youtube. I mean, I do read music so I understand the whole concept of reading/playing music, but now I just need to learn how to do that on the uke. I don't think I will be finger picking for awhile. Maybe I can strum Edelweiss?? Yes I did take voice lessons growing up and I was a music education major in college, an I was a vocal major... so I pretty much majored in singing! :)

  8. This is amazing!!!! I LOVE that you shared this with us and that you do this every year. I think you downplay your theatric abilities a bit...we know you teach music and piano, an have done showtunes and stuff...but clearly you're SUPER talented!!!

    1. Thank you so much :) I don't really talk about singing because I haven't been in a show in over 2 years, and the only singing I do is w/ the kids at work.

  11. Goodness, girl! I knew you were talented but that voice is like that of an angel! And Paul's voice is the best compliment to your voice for that song. Edelweiss is a beautiful song for any occasion including Christmas. Thank you for sharing that gift!

I know you are not but I am such a fan of the Sound of Music (Christopher Plummer and Julia Andrews). So much so, that 2 years ago, I fulfilled a dream of mine and traveled through Europe (mostly by car) with a focused stay in Salzburg, Austria to visit and have a bit of my own Sound of Music experience.  Went to the amazing Leopoldskron Palace and the Hellbrunn Palace, the convent (still active) and my own version of running through the meadow (in the rain) on Untersberg Mountain while singing the famous title song. :-)

I'd forgotten you recorded a version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside"! That's my beau's favorite secular Christmas song. We do a pretty good duet with it, however, we do it a capella. We wanted to record it for his parents (since they are elderly and want/need no material gifts) but I had no track music and no idea where to start with how to get it accomplished. :-(

    1. That sounds like a great trip! I can just imagine visiting places depicted in my favorite movies. I know I am in the minority in not liking the sound of music. Either way, I would not pass up the opportunity to run through that meadow!
