Exciting News!

For the past couple years, the East Pennsboro Education Foundation has been holding a Dancing with the East Pennsboro Stars event to raise money for our schools. At the event, a professional dancer performs with an East Pennsboro "celebrity". Votes are cast, and in the end, one couple goes home with the trophy! Last year, the Education Foundation raised over $20,000 for our schools! The whole community comes out and the high school gym is packed.

My 4th Grade Chorus has performed at the event every year. My ensemble always sings and dances to Footloose! The students get all jazzed up in their fun 80's clothes. They look really colorful and bring so much energy to the event. They will be performing again this year!

However... I will not be able to lead their performance. I have had to delegate that job to a fellow colleague because.... this year...

*** I am a STAR! ***

That's right! This year, I finally got paired up with a professional dance partner and we will be dancing our way to that trophy! Well, I hope we win the trophy... and raise a lot of money for the East Pennsboro Education Foundation in the process!

If you want to come to the event, here are the details!

  2. Oh this is SO cool! I often thought about "what if we could do something like dancing with the stars at our school but with teachers" but never really thought schools did that. This is amazing! How much practicing will you have to do?

    1. I guess schools do it! And we raise LOTS of money. I do not know how much practicing... I know I will practice A LOT on my own because I am a perfectionist and want to be able to perform without having to concentrate the whole time. My partner and I practiced for 2 hours last night and almost got the choreography hashed out, but of course have to tweak and perfect... plus there are a lot of things I CAN'T practice on my own because it involves him lifting me up or me jumping on him.

  3. Wow that is so cool! I love dancing and would love to do something like this :) I went out on Wednesday night and did some pretty serious ballroom dancing - it was so much fun! Although getting home at 3am on a school night is probably not helping that whole 'not being able to sleep' thing haha

    1. I didn't know ballroom dancers were out so late! Yeah, I would imagine it is hard to fall asleep after that. I rehearsed with my partner last night until 9pm (late for me!!!), got home at 9:30, but wasn't able to calm myself down and crawl into bed until 11:15. Thank goodness it is the weekend!

  4. So cool that you are going to dance with someone who went to Julliard... and to raise funds for your school district!!! Will there be video? Because I totally want to see it!
