Weekend Wrap Up!

WHAT A WEEKEND!
I need a weekend to recover from this weekend. There's something about sunshine and beautiful temperatures that make me enjoy actually getting out of my house and having a life. Here's what I was up to...

Work was exciting on Friday because I spent the morning at the high school with my 4th grade chorus and show choir perform at Share the Music Day. My students got to perform for all the other music ensemble students in the district from elementary to high school. The audience screamed and cheered for them after their performance and I had tears in my eyes. I'm so proud of them and glad they had a ton of fun!

After work, Paul and I went on our weekly Aldi date. That night's trip was SCANDALOUS! A women who didn't bring a cart INTO the store tried to take one OUT of the store. Obviously, she did not know the proper Aldi etiquette.

Later that night, I went to see two of my favorite friends perform in the musical Company at Oyster Mill Playhouse. It was my favorite role I ever saw my friend Jen in. She owned her song. And Randy... let's just say I heard people in the audience whisper "Oooh!" on the last note of his song.

The show is running for at least another weekend! Check out Oyster Mill's site for info!

After the show, I went out for drinks and food with Randy and Jen. I laughed so hard and had an excellent time. (Although... I made some pretty bad drink/food/staying out late choices that really affected my run the next day! I will talk more about it tomorrow...) But it was worth it! I had a grilled Rachel sandwich that was HUGE w/ fries, a merlot, and a dirty martini. As my friend Maren would say, "Go big or go home!"

Saturday morning was a little rough, but I woman'ed up and rolled out of bed pretty early. My parents came over to help me make a garden! I will write more about it later this week but here is a sneak peak...

Then, Paul and I had a disc golf/running date. His game rocked but my run SUCKED. Hmmm I wonder why?

The rest of the evening was spent playing cards, blogging, and watching the season finale of The Mindy Project. WE HAVE OFFICIALLY OFFICED IT. We're no longer just talkin' the talk, we're walkin' the walk. Good bye, Mindy Kaling. Your show used to be funny but now it sucks!

We did some kitty shots too...

Sunday morning, I had a hot and sunny 5 mile run. I felt ten times better than I did on my run the day before- probably because I got a lot of sleep! Then I headed to my Grandma and Pappy's house for a little visit. Grandma sent me home with these...

These are more stuffed than Double Stuff and they are INSANELY GOOD!
I left them in my car all day, so by the time I had one, they were all melty and the cream
busted out the sides. Wow. I am glad I only gave up ice cream and not milk and cookies!

I met my mom and SIL for lunch at Stoney Creek Inn. to celebrate Mother's Day. I got some amazing Maryland crab soup and a huge piece of seared tuna. It was the best piece of tuna I ever had in my life.

Mom, me, and SIL...who will soon be a mom for the second time!

That flower was edible and I ate it. My SIL, Debby, ate hers too because she does what she wants.

That afternoon, I met my friend Bree for our semi weekly walk. We want to start a podcast of just all the stuff we talk about on our walks. It would be called, "Bree and Megan Go For A Walk." Would you download that from iTunes? It's NC-17!!!!

Sunday night, I baked 9lbs of sweet potatoes! I say it lasts 2 weeks!

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend!!!!

Do you like Oreos?
Did you do anything special with your mom for Mother's Day?
Tell me something fun about your weekend!

  1. I'm super weird and hate Oreo cream so I only eat them if I scrape everything out of the middle first. I also hate frosting on cake so eating sweets with me means getting a plate full of my icing to finish off on my behalf ;)

    1. Wow, then you and I should eat sweets together all the time! :)

  2. I nearly died when you said you were giving up ice cream, but I calmed myself down when I realised you were still eating other desserts in its place. Life is too short to go without ice cream!

    1. Agreed! It's only for my hubby, who wants to eat healthier and can't control himself around ice cream. We're giving it up until Hawaii- which is only until July so it won't be forever! You know I love my ice cream!!!

    2. Seriously though, if I didn't know you liked Seinfeld so much I would question whether you have a sense of humor or not! ;)

Have you ever watched the Louie show? Adam thinks it's hilarious and I'm so-so about it. Some parts of it remind me of Seinfeld a bit.

    3. LOL I know I told you before but I think Morgan, Tamra, and Peter are HILARIOUS. If it was the Morgan Tamra Peter Project I would loooove it! I have never watched Louie... as in Louie CK? I heard him interviewed on NPR and I liked him. :)

    4. Yep, Louis CK. If you have Netflix I think most of the episodes are on there. I might need to give the show another shot!

  4. What is a Rachel sandwich? Sounds pretty amazing just by the name! ;-) Your weekend sounds great! Any weekend with theatre people is a good weekend. I would totally download your podcast.

The beach I went to on Sunday is one that is about 30 minutes north of my house (even though there's a beach literally a 1/2 mile walk away from where I live). And the redwood park is right behind my college. :-D

    1. Very cool! Are you unable to share any specific details about the places??? ;) A Rachel is grilled rye bread, turkey, russian dressing, and saurkraut with cheese. It is sooooo good you HAVE to have one!

  6. I just slice them up and roast them in the oven. Sometimes I toss them in oil beforehand. Then we keep them in tupperware and just eat throughout the week. I take them to work for lunch. :)

  7. Because I'm an avid reader of your blog, I understand 'officed it.' ;) How do you get such awesome cat shots?! I LOVE sweet potato! And I SO want to start a garden this summer. You should do an 'how to garden' post. :D

    1. Oh Heather, my "how to garden" post would go something like this: Call my parents, have them bring all the supplies, dig where my dad tells you to dig, and do everything my mom tells you to do. VOILA, a GARDEN!!! ":) My cats are DIVAS and love to sleep in those positions. :)

  10. Mwahahahaha I LOVE OREOS! When I'm not on my Swedish fish kick, I'm usually on an Oreo kick. The more creme filling, the better! I have to ask, when you give up ice cream, does that mean you say no to gelato, too?

    1. I actually never had gelato! And the ice cream thing is only until July 13th. Hopefully I can hang that long...
