We be old.

Guess what my husband and I have been doing EVERY night for the past two weeks?

Relax. We've been playing cards.

Monopoly Deal has been our go-to card game for the past 2 years. (Try it. It's ADDICTING!) Recently, we decided to spice things up.

First we added Rummy. But after I beat Paul in a best of three tourney 5 nights in a row, he decided we should learn some new card games to play. Now, Casino Royale and Golf have both been thrown into the mix.

Wine is very important to my Rummy strategy.

Paul does not like having his picture taken.

I do, as long as it's not a close up when I have on zero make up
and my cruddy blue fleece.

I've determined we're officially old. Of course the fact that we play cards every night is not the first sign we're getting older.

We already spend Friday nights grocery shopping and running errands.

Staying up past 9pm on a work night is scandalous.

When I go into Aeropostale, they call me "ma'am".

On runs, I've been noticing garage doors that I find appealing.
(Garage doors! I don't even have a garage.)

I guess the next step is to pop out a few kids!? (Just kidding. Never gonna happen.)

What card games do you love?

Is there anything you and your love do that makes you think, "Mmmm... now we're old!"?

  1. The idea of going "out" (e.g. a bar with smoke and lots of drunk people) sounds about as appealing as a hole in the head. On the other hand, take out pizza and wine while playing Yahtzee sounds like heaven.

    1. Plus bars aren't even inhabited until after nine... That's way too late!

  2. OMG this is too funny! Last month my husband and I filled out a raffle for something and we had to check one of those boxes that corresponded to our age. I had to check the next box up....Gasp! Now that's old!

  3. Yes, let's please skip popping out a few kids and move right along to adopting 10 cats :) I love playing Rummy ... Adam and I play Rummy Cubes a lot. I've never heard of Golf. I need to look that up!

  4. LOL...entertaining post Meg! I know I'm old when I find staying in on a Friday night in PJ's watching TV more appealing than wearing mascara and heading out on the town, (in other words: heading to Boston Pizza=going out). I'm wild! ;)

    1. I think we must exhaust ourselves with teaching and running that weekends we just need to chill!

  5. Oh I should have added the grey hair thing! I have that too! But I feel like at 31 I shouldn't have it yet. Oh well. My dad's side of the fam greys early.

  6. I liked the 'Aeropostale' note the best! I feel like I'm too old to be seen in that store. I'm worried that going into American Eagle is borderline at my age.
I feel ya'. We went to bed at 8PM two weekends ago but in my defense we were up at 5:30 and I ran a half marathon. I just couldn't believe we were in bed THAT early though!

    1. I swear I never fit in anything from American Eagle... not even when I was a teenager! Now Aero is not really my style but I have this awesome zip up hoodie I got there on sale a few years ago that is sooooo comfy and warm and I wear it as pjs around the house. So from time to time I go in there to see if they have any- CHEAP. I mean, not more than $15. Usually they only have weird sizes (like XS, which is actually XXXXXS in real people clothes) so I never luck out!

  7. I love Texas Hold 'Em, but we're more likely to place Cards Against Humanity, Apples to Apples, or Trivial Pursuit. We love board games!

    1. If Texas Hold 'Em is poker, I bet Paul knows how to play that! I should ask. You know he taught me how to play poker back when we were dating but I totally forget now!

  8. I am secretly an old lady in so many ways. We went to a party the other weekend that started at 5 pm. I was so excited because it meant we wouldn't have to stay out late.

  9. Umm...we go grocery shopping like every other day...and call it FUN, our ideal weekend night is staying in and hanging with the Hounds, and you'll find either one of us falling asleep on the couch or the recliner on any given day of the week before 10 p.m.

  10. My husband and I joke all the time that we are old! It is hard for us to stay up to 11pm {which happened both Friday and Saturday!!!!}!
