Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday!!! Is there such a thing??
I hope you had an awesome weekend.
Here's a sneak peek at mine...
Actually, it's a big peek.
Grab your coffee, this is a long one!

Friday started out wonderfully- a 2 hour delay! For those of you that live in fair weather climates, a 2 hour delay is what happens when it’s snowy or icy and it's not safe to travel right away. The schools open 2 hours later. We get an automated phone call from our district to notify us the night before or that morning. We do not need to make up 2 hour delays but we do have to make up days that school is closed due to weather conditions. Needless to say, 2 hour delays are awesome, because I get to relax at home before hitting the gym!
The gym was pleasantly dead that morning. I lifted back and then ran 4.5 miles with my knee brace on. I felt pretty strong and even managed to bang out a couple sub seven minute miles. I haven’t been running much, so I owe my speed to intervals on the arc trainer. I am thankful that I am still able to push my body anaerobically, even if I’m not running!
After work, we celebrated my dad’s birthday a few days early. My parents, grandma, brother, sister-in-law, and niece came over to hang. We ordered pizza and subs. It was a carb-fest! We had a lot of fun!

So happy!
Future piano student.
Gettin' rowdy with her Auntie Megan!
Now, remember I told you my dad always dazzled us with magic tricks and brain teasers when we were kids? And that he did the same thing on Christmas Day? Well for my dad’s “’present”, me, my husband, brother, and sister-in-law each learned a trick and performed a little magic show for my dad.

Dad tries to figure out Tyler's rubber band trick.

I'm pretty pleased my trick actually worked!

Paul, in all his glory, after he made a quarter disappear!

Later on that evening...

Chrissy trying to get my cereal milk Saturday morning.

I was ticked when I got up Saturday because it was pouring! I really wanted to run. (Knee be damned!) Well, I ended up getting out on the road during a break from the heavy rain. I ran 6 miles at a 7:51 average pace. When I run 5-8 miles, my average pace is usually just that. This is the natural pace I run. However, usually my first mile and a half is in the 8s and by the time I'm done, I'm running 7:30s. I just naturally speed up as I go along. Anyone else out there do this?

I was pretty pleased that I found the match to these gloves!

That afternoon, we met my in-laws for a late Christmas celebration. We went out to eat at Gullifty's, a yummy place in New Cumberland. I got a seared tuna salad which was amazing! We talked and laughed for two hours and exchanged gifts.

A cat purse! Score!

Cat wine! Double score!

Later on I went to Amelia's. It's a discount grocery outlet. The food they have is not expired, it's just very discounted! (You know I'm a bargain shopper!)

Look what I ended up getting...

That's Campfire S'more ice cream, in case you can't tell!!

Yes, I eat junk food. Just not a ton of it. Right now I'm at a point where I can
have it in the house and not go crazy and binge on it. I can eat a little chocolate here,
an Oreo there, a handful of cheese curls once in awhile.. Some of that is for my hus, too...
The cereal, pop tarts, cheese dip, and gold fish I don't have any interest in!
(Look at me trying to justify all my junk food!!!!)

And the one healthy thing I bought at Amelia's... sweet potatoes! On sale for 67 cents a pound!

I thought it was supposed to be sunny today? Well, at least it wasn't freezing cold. My workout was pretty intense- THREE Deck of Cards workouts. It was 5 times more difficult than my 6 mile run yesterday!

My set up...

 Here's what I did...

16:55

20:19
(For jump rope rotations, do in multiples of 10. Ex: 3 of hearts = 30 rotations)

19:51

BEFORE 100 BURPEES AND 200 MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS.

AFTER 100 BURPEES AND 200 MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS.

Oops.

If you want to learn more about how awesome/horrible Deck of Cards workouts are,
check out this post and learn how to design your own!

Since my husband has been in football play off land all weekend, I was able to spend the afternoon walking with my dear friend, Bree! I know I talk about my walks with Bree from time to time in Weekend Wrap Ups, so I finally managed to snag a picture of us. And Sasha Bear!!!

I was super tired after our long cold walk. The rest of the evening was spent studying, watching American Horror Story, and chillin' with my man and my fur balls. Oh, and I started reading one of my favorite Sweet Valley High books...

Yes, it is ridiculous.

Tell me something fun you did this weekend!
Have you ever done a Deck of Cards workout?
What's your favorite JUNK food?

  1. I used to do deck of card workouts in my apartment in grad school! Someone once knocked to see if I was dying haha. I'm weird in that I don't eat the healthiest food but I'd rather have a big cheesy burrito than candy or anything. I guess ice cream if we're talking "treats" but I totally lean savory rather than sweet.

  4. Sounds like a great weekend. Aren't 2 hour delays the best? Yes, I have done a deck of cards work out before, thanks for reminding me that I need to post that on my blog soon! We went to a concert at the Wittaker Center on Saturday. It was Fabulous!

  5. Um. I cannot believe you did THREE deck of card workouts. My circuit instructor will do the deck of cards workout for class sometimes and ONE kills me. I love it when we get to Aces and she makes us do 20 of each thing. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.

    1. I couldn't feel my legs on the 3rd one. Oh and my ass hurts so bad today from the kettle bell swings since I haven't done them in like 2 months.

  7. Omg that cat purse, haha! I got a cat umbrella and a cat neck massager for Christmas. I think people know that we are cat ladies :)

Favorite junk food? So hard to choose ... I think it has to be cheese balls. How are they so much better than other cheese puff type snacks? Mmm.

    1. That's funny cheese balls make me barf, but cheese curls are fine! I don't understand the difference? One is a ball and one is a curl and I'm sure they taste the same but not in my mind.

I'm impressed how you naturally speed up.......I really need to 'work' to accomplish that! Great job!

    1. It was tough, my ass is still really sore from the kettle bell swings... which I have not done in like 3 months. (So why not do 100 in one day, right!!!???)

  10. I've never done a deck of cards workout; I'll definitely have to put this on my to do list! Favorite junk food? Wine and ice cream (or gelato) or wine and chocolate...yum!

  11. I've never done a deck of cards workout before but I love the creativity behind it! I seriously could not imagine running as fast as you, and that's even done a one mile sprint! Incredible! I did a trail run race which I really enjoyed...more than I thought. I liked the mixture of terrain. I'm really sore today from it though! :)

    1. I love trail! Even though I have run a TON of trail, if I take a month or two off from it, my ankles are very sore the next day!
