A Day In My Life!

This was my day on Friday, July 15th!

Even though I wasn't up very late on Thursday night, I slept in like a champ on Friday morning!

Paul went out to breakfast with our friend Bree and her daughter Alice, so I had the house to myself when I woke up. I did my normal thang... coffee + computer.

I wasn't up long before Paul popped in the house and said my car was done at the shop! Bree was outside and was going to take me to pick it up. I was so freaking happy!

Before my run, I had my new favorite cereal...

The real feel temperature was 92 when I went out around 11:45. I mapped out a 2 mile loop around my house. I put out lots of water and Nuun to grab after each 2 mile loop. I also planned to go inside and cool off in the a/c if need be while I drank my water after each loop.

It was pretty hot, but giving myself 1-2 minutes to cool down between each loop really enabled me to get 10 miles done with 8 @ MP (7:49!) Actually, I was just a tad fast.

AFTER:
I don't look like Ali after a 10 mile run but I didn't look too worse for wear!

After stretching and an epic lunch, Paul and I TORE UP THE TOWN!!! I mean, we had my car back. What else were we supposed to do!?

We ran a lot of errands...

Aldi

Dollar Tree for a new puzzle

Sangria...
(Yes I am still going to make it and thank you Ana for the recipe!)

Annnnnnnd, I met my new nephew, Clark!

When we got home, I felt like cooking! I made pasta salad.

 BEFORE:

AFTER:

Oh, I harvested my first zuke from my garden! After receiving such a great response to my zuke pics last week, I figured I'd do another zuke photo shoot...

This is supposed to be me singing into a microphone. I assume you would know that without clarification buuuuut... it never hurts to clarify!

Paul says of this photo: "Clearly you never played baseball."

Then we ate dinner and watched Colbert. I had some lovely couch time!

Chrissy had some couch time too....

I went to bed with my lap top. I hadn't been on FB all day so of course I had to scroll through my news feed. I fell asleep around midnight while reading Big Brother message boards.

What a great day!

Does anyone have a good sangria recipe they can share with me?????

  1. I was able to find the sangria recipes I have! I think I have only made the white version and I think I left out the sugar:

    Red sangria:
1 bottle of red wine (usually merlot)
    1.5 - 2 cans of sprite
    .5 cup triple sec
    .5 cup brandy
splash of juice (OJ or pineapple)
(you can add pieces of fruit to it for more flavor)

    White Sangria
    1/2 c sugar
    1/4" lime slices(1-2 limes)
    Cherries(optional)
    1 pint strawberries
    1/4" lemon slices
    1 fifth white wine
    1/4 cup rum
    24 oz lemon lime soda

Let me know if you try one of these! Your day sounds great, but there is no way I could run 10 miles in the middle of the day like that when its so hot out!

    1. The ONLY reasons I was able to run in the heat/sun like that was due to cooling off in between and also I have been running in the heat basically all summer so I was acclimated. But still, without the cool off periods, it would not have happened. I guess that is cheating on the tempo run but oh well! I did not want to hop on the treadmill.

The white sangria sounds cheaper to make but the red sangria sounds yummier! Thanks you for taking the time to share those recipes and I WILL let you know if I try them.

  2. Hooray for another Aldi shopper! I bought their peanut butter with honey in it ($1.89). It is the best peanut butter I have ever had, no lie. It knocks those pricey, trendy "blogger brand" PBs outta the park ;).

Looks like you had a great day! Hooray for nailing a long run with some miles at MP and getting your car back from the shop.

    1. I really can't fathom why anyone would shop anywhere other than Aldi. Everything is just so much cheaper! That cart you see pictured? $95. CANNOT. BEAT. THAT.!

  3. The zucchini pics--way too funny! I wish I had a recipe to share w/ you but I don't make Sangria. I will, however, drink it if it's available at a party (e.g. last nights BBQ with friends). I am in awe of how you can run in that heat. My run today was 60 degrees and I was warm. This is another very good reason why I don't race. If there was a race that started at 5 am, I might consider it but so far....never seen that (shocker).

    1. I think it would have kept growing but it was running out of room in my small garden and was almost touching the fence!

  5. That sounds like a cheaper way to make sangria and I bet it tastes really good!

Tell Kenny he is not allowed to let you stop running!

  6. You ran at 11:45?! I don't know how people do that. I either run early -early-early or around sundown so I can avoid the day's hottest temperatures and strongest sun!

  7. You are a beast for even attempting to run after 10 am and seeing that you even did 10 miles you are just awesome!

I have never had sangria but it looks refreshing! Is it a sweet drink?

  9. You zuke pics... thanks for clarifying about the singing. I was about to report your site to Google for adult content! Now I will just report you to the police for looking too beautiful after a long, MP pace run in the middle of the day.
