Bench is with a straight bar. Dumb bell chest press is good because you are also working your stabilizer muscles. When you have a bar, you don't have to stabilize as much yourself, the bar does it for you. So if you can't dumb bell chest press the same weight you bench, it would make sense because it is harder to do.Meg Go Runhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11707890742715926971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6003023702428993428.post-11490813380113502282014-07-14T00:34:54.109-04:002014-07-14T00:34:54.109-04:00lol @ being impressed/disgusted. I'm not sure how much lifting I will be able to do Friday and Saturday. I know what it's like to feel "soft" after not lifting for a few days. It's not a good thing, as I know I definitely won't get soft from two days of not lifting. In fact, it probably helps my muscles! I don't do speed work really. I run intervals, but only to build fast twitch muscles for volleyball. Other than that I've never paid much attention to how fast or slow I go. I have to get back to you on that one. I don't know how you ran with your eye in that shape! When I'm running in the trail and a bug gets in my eye, I feel like it's game over...trying to fish it out without stopping is also stupid I know, but for some reason I do it.

I've recently been back at the gym and I do enjoy it. Sheesh.

I am really thankful I have come so far since then. Still have moments but really trying.

I love hearing about your strength workouts! Since I got way more serious about it this year, I am amazed at the changes in my body. It took me awhile but FINALLY I see how important not only for how you look but how it helps support the body with other sports (and hopefully avoid injury).

ENJOY the beach!! Beach/water/sun = my happy place. N...Susan, I am laughing at you blood blister story. Not because of the blood blister, but because your doctor CLEARLY didn't know how runners think. You know those doctors... lol! They clearly underestimate us! We could go in with a broken leg and still ask, "Yeah but can I run on it??" hahaha!

Eye is totally normal. I cannot believe how quickly the eye can heal itself!

Girl, I was the same way, I never ever lifted. What was I thinking? I actually gotta hit the gym now. I took my rest day yesterday (although I ran errands all day then we had a leak in our basement so their was water gushing out of a pipe so it wasn't very restful hahaha) so today I must get in a full body workout before we head to the BEACH!Meg Go Runhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11707890742715926971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6003023702428993428.post-39161053892256208162014-07-13T07:28:00.839-04:002014-07-13T07:28:00.839-04:00I had a stress fracture one time and I was given t...I had a stress fracture one time and I was given this really tiny boot/brace which totally made it feel better. The dr. said I didn't have any restrictions but since I was not actually training for anything "maybe don't run". Did I listen? Hell no. 6 miles later when I took it off I had a blood blister on top of my foot that was about 3 inches long -- I could feel the blood sloshing around inside it. All I could think is "you're an idiot". Because then I was back to no running while I dealt with an open wound. Lovely.

I am so glad you are back and feeling good from your eye injury. Really scary, Meg.

I lift 2-3 x per week. On alternate days I do an abs DVD workout. I can't believe how bad I used to slack off on lifting (either barely do it or not do it at all). Now I almost would rather lift than cardio if pressed for time because I love the results (however I still choose cardio so I can get a "high" which I still never get from lifting).

Happy Sunday!Susannoreply@blogger.com
