Fall Races- Yup, I'm running some!

What????
Megan running races???
I am registered for #2 and #3.
#1 would be a race day decision.

Note: I am not RACING these races. I'm just running them for fun!

1. KTA 25k Trail Challenge. This race is on September 9th, and I will run it provided I feel like getting up early that day! From the course description, it looks like this will be a very beautiful race. It's coming up soon, so I'm not sure what kind of training I would do for this. I guess I just look at it as a fun walk/run in the woods.

2. The Dam Half! I am really excited for this trail race at RB Winter State Park on September 17th. For years, I have heard good things about this race. It was only $50 to register and I'll get a hoodie and meal after the race! I don't see myself doing anything special to prepare for it. Perhaps I will do a 10 miler on the trail a week or two beforehand. But if I do the 25k, I'll just count that as a training run for this!

3. Baltimore Marathon Relay. I'm running this race with a couple friends! It will be a fun girls race for sure. I think the relay distances are between 6-7 miles. I'm not sure what distance I am running. The race is on October 21st, so I'll just keep doing my normal running until then.

Three races that I don't really plan to train for... I guess that is the perk of just running for "fun"!
Do you have any races planned for this fall?
Do you ever NOT train for races you are doing for fun?

    1. Ooh then it's a good thing you're not doing it since you'll be out of town. I actually hate committing to races but since it's just 6-7 miles and for "fun" I am okay with it.

  3. What?? you are doing 3 races? I don't recognize you! I'm kidding, they look like fun ones!

We will need to have sangria by the inner harbor after the race, and tapas.

  4. Those races sound like fun! I'm really glad you can run for fun and get away from some of the competitiveness and pettiness of the sport... I really need to give myself some grace on the running front these days because it hasn't been fun over the last few weeks. The Dam half sounds incredible! $50 for a race that includes a hoodie and post-race food is an awesome deal, especially a half marathon.

    1. I think running is what *we* make it. If we make it competitive and petty, that's what it is. Does that make sense? I mean, I think it is good to be competitive and set goals, of course, but if we get burned out, it's good to just chillax and run for fun.

I know, I thought that was an excellent deal as well! I hope I like the hoodie... aka, I hope it's not like bright orange or bright yellow! Then I can actually wear it.

  5. Wow, look at you!! Fall races are the best. I do have a couple of races coming up. I've really cut back this Fall, but you'll see me volunteering and running a few of them. Heck, I'm a course marshal this weekend. Oh, and packet pickup worker at 6:15 am. zzzzzz

  8. I'm doing the RnR Las Vegas 10k, and that's it for my fall schedule ATM. I might keep a small race in mind to get through the holidays, but then I don't have anything planned for the spring.
