Thinking Out Loud: Celebrity Dinner Party List

Thank you to Amanda @ Running With Spoons for this Thinking Out Loud link up!

I was randomly daydreaming... If I could ever throw a dinner party for me and my favorite celebrities, who would I invite? Here is my invite list!

Barack Obama

The president has to attend. End of story.

Madonna

I was slightly obsessed with Madonna in high school and college. She is one of the best entertainers out there. Even though I am not as obsessed as I once was and think she has gotten a bit weird, it would still be cool to have her at my dinner party.

Joy Behar

I loved The View and Joy was my favorite panelist of all time- probably because
we see eye to eye on most issues.

Neil Patrick Harris

Sure Neil, you may wear this to dinner. :)

Jerry Seinfeld

As long as he is exactly like his character on Seinfeld, I want him there.

Peyton Manning

This one is for Paul. Aren't I a generous wife? I couldn't care less about football or Peyton Manning. But I am sure he is a nice guy, so he can come. Paul and Peyton can sit in the corner and talk football all night. Peyton Manning does play football, right?

Terrie Gross

Terrie is my girl. I listen to her on Fresh Air every day on the way home from work, and then I download her pod cast and catch up on what I missed while I run. She has such a soothing voice, so it's not that great for speed work- it's better for an easy run.
Who would you invite to your celebrity dinner party?

  1. I love your list, Meg! It is GREAT. Of course, I am a Peyton Manning fan, too, along with Paul. This is kind of hard. But for actors I would love to have dinner with Meryl Streep. I love her. I would also love to talk to Sean Penn about all his humanitarian efforts. And Matt Damon, simply because I think he's adorable. I would also want to visit with Deepak Chopra. I could most certainly learn a thing or two from that peaceful man.

P.S. I am sure you know this already but next week they are airing the top 25 Seinfeld episodes in celebration of the 25 year anniversary!

    1. I did not know about the 25th anniversary episodes- thanks for letting me know! You have some great celeb selections as well. I wonder if we had a joint dinner party, things would get awkward between Madonna and Sean Penn????

    2. That is SO true. I completely forgot about that...but then again, who hasn't Madonna dated, right?!?

  2. I would NOT invite our current President, but I WOULD invite former President George Bush. Hell, I would invite the entire Bush family! I've actually met them all and they are all really nice people!
I would also invite Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benetar...you know where I'm going with this. And if imgoingto be kind to my husband, I'll invite Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones).

    1. That's cool that you met the whole fam! I like watching Jenna Bush on the Today Show. I think she is good and maybe could have a career in journalism. :)

  3. I think NPH would be an great dinner guest. I would invite most of the cast of Friday Night Lights (the TV show), Oprah, Lisa Ling, Kerri Walsh & Misty May…hmmm, that's probably good enough since I'm a terrible cook and would have a hard time cooking for more. :)

    1. I think I would be too stressed and would have to order out for my party!

  4. I LOVE this post so much! I'm stealing the idea for one day next week so I can't tell you who I would invite in this comment :) I would want Pres. Obama at my party, but I don't think I would actually invite him because I think having him there would make the dress code too formal.

    1. Maybe you could specifically tell Obama he HAS to wear shorts and a t-shirt??? Can't wait to read your guest list! I see some Miami Heat players on it, perhaps??? Oh and your man Scott, right???

  5. First person that comes to mind? Ellen. I freaking LOVE her and I imagine there'd never be a dull moment at any party she attended :) And good call on Jerry -- I've met him in person and I'd say he's preeeeeetty similar to how he was on the show.

  6. Oh what a fun topic!! Okay, I would want Stephen King and JK Rowling, pretty much the entire Harry Potter cast (don't judge me), Hilary Clinton, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert. That would make an interesting mix!

    1. Oh now I am mad that I did not include Hillary and Colbert!!! Good ones, Ali!

  7. Not totally sure what happened to the comment I just posted a second ago...apparently I somehow deleted it :P Sorry for the confusion! Let's try this again, shall we?

Good call on NHP - he'd definitely be on my guest list! Hmmm...I think I'd also invite Hillary Clinton, Morgan Freeman (can you imagine him saying, "pass the bread" in his god voice?), Hugh Jackman, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Craig Ferguson, and probably every member of the Boston Bruins :) I don't think I'd invite Pres. Obama, only because my dining room/kitchen isn't big enough for his Secret Service posse

    1. You know I should have invited Hugh Jackman for my hubby cause he is one we both like! I am with you on Hillary too. :) Okay, don't hate me but I can't stand Morgan Freeman- or his voice!

  8. I'll be honest--at first I thought that you guys were throwing a dinner party where people had to dress and act like a celeb. I'll be even more honest--I was hoping to be invited!!

  9. Hmm....I might invite Gordon Ramsey (as long as he promises not to critique my food!). And, I think it would be fun to have the New York "housewives" - I love that show!!

    1. I used to watch that show! When I discovered it, I totally binged and watched it all. Good choice for some drama. :)

  10. Is it sad that I would want to invite famous strongmen? Haha :)

  11. Hey Megs, Dad and I had fun with this. We decided I'd pick his list and he'd pick mine. IMO, Dad's best dinner party would be: Dr. J (Julius Erving) , Steven Tyler, Jeff Gordon, Milla Jovovich, Jaime Pressly, and Mike & Mike. (He said he'd switch out the one Mike for Pamela Anderson. : )

  14. Many celebrities say that they didn't grow up thinking they'd be a famous. They just have certain passions, which naturally pulled them down the path.
